Celtic will receive £1.65m from the Uefa revenue distribution system for participating in the Champions League play-off round against Helsingborgs. Add to that around £1m gate money and the guarantee of at least three Europa League games, with Uefa distribution money, you can calculate the value of Wednesday’s win over HJK Helsinki as no less than £6m (all figures are net of vat). Quite a prize for one game.
Compare this to the projected income from newco The Rangers, who claimed to have sold 25,000 season tickets. If all sales were at full adult prices (£258 in vat), net income would be £5.375m.
Should Celtic overcome Helsingborgs and reach the Champions League group stage, the club will return to a remarkably strong financial footing.

Not posted for ages…don’t post much in any case…
However, feel the need to post tonight. Increasing anxiety, annoyance, inner rage of the total and utter denial of the zombie club as to who and what they may still be. Rewriting history, making it up as they go along, deid when it suits…oldco at all other times, poisonous statements and delusions…they have it all. No recognition that they’re anything approaching a new club at all…let alone any humility. Compliant Scottish media plus an ignorant English media making it all feel worse. It makes me sick and angry at the arrogance.
Then it struck me watching the game in the States tonight…
I’m proud to be a Celtic fan…to be associated with my club. I’m able to be proud of my club ‘cos of what we’ve done, continue to do and stand for as a collective. Simple things like paying your dues, taxes and bills…as well as behaving ourselves when we travel…you know like humans. :-)
So, I’m going to stop thinking about them or what may become of them because I simply shouldn’t give them this much thought…I’m getting sucked into it because im terrified that fairness won’t win the day. How naive of me…of course it won’t. Back to Celtic for me, doing the right things, trying to do them right and doing so with a smile on our faces.
When challenged by anyone in the future over the existence and continuity of Rangers as we knew them I shall simply say “don’t be daft…”…because they know fine well…it annoys them more than any logical procession of facts.
After all…Glasgow’s Green and White. Undeniable…and unbroken…

Agree, I thought it was a cowardly challenge as well, a real madrid fringe player trying to impress. a Marinho type player. He was watching Dylan not the ball.
PhilBhoy WOW!!!!!!

It was a sickening clash.
I hope young Dylan is OK obviously.
I just don’t understand why we REALLY need to be in Philadelphia at such an important, no, CRITICAL, time in our season.
0-2 v Madrid or
2-2 v Peterhead?
Hope young Dylan is ok.
waiting only to hear WGS take on the game noo then back to all things celtic

Thank God that’s over!Hope the injured are OK,especially Dylan. We need to play these games but we must try to get them in the pre season.I know it will be difficult because these teams seasons start after ours but we must try.

Awe naw
It doesn’t make sense to me that we had to make this trip at this time.
Look at the games we have coming up.
I’d much rather have played D Utd today.
Hope we get good news on Dylan through soon,he was out cold before he hit the ground shocking to watch
Great experience for our young squad
These games which give our club and the Celtic family an opportunity to show off the Celtic brand including our history and charitable ethos to a wider audience
Hopefully it will pay dividends for promising talent to come to the SPL hell and play for us, as experienced quality players are shunning Scottish football, its a backwater
PL and the club IMO were correct to play this game, god speed Dylans recovery
Lets just calm down a bit here.
YES the money Celtic earned from that game was good and it is nice to rub shoulders with Real Madrid and it raises the profile of the club and it helps secure our fanbase in North America.
These are all positives.
But is 1m quid worth that Head knock to Dylan? Not on your life.
Is it worth the other injuries? Not really.
We know the club need money and we all accept that but if it means we are losing players who we might need for a game or games that can make us 20M quid then I say it is foolhardy.
PL is all about the money on every level – we know this but he didn’t know that they’d lose players in such a fashion.
