Wishful transfer thinking, broken Hearts

953

Celtic have been linked with a whole barrage of players over the last 24 hours, strongly linked in some instances.  While it is more fun to drool over players coming in than fret as existing players leave the club, I’m very sure that some of the reports floating around right now are the product of wishful thinking on the part of agents trying to place their players with a top European club.

For each player you read about, two others will be under consideration, and remember the golden rule, if players or agents are talking publicly, they are not talking to Celtic.  It’s easy to generate screeds of column inches for you, or your client, with a few well-chosen phrases.

Ukio Bankas statement this morning that current bids for the assets of Hearts which they hold security over, specifically Tynecastle Stadium, scene of Scotland’s most famous non-assault, do not meet their valuation presents real challenge to the club.  Hearts are a club capable of generating in the region of £10m.  Operating the club on a budget this size will be difficult, raising enough cash to satisfy Ukio Bankas might be impossible.

Unlike the situation last year with Rangers, when Craig Whyte secured an irrevocable undertaking upon liquidation to transfer Ibrox Stadium to Sevco 5088 Ltd, Ukio Bankas liquidators are unlikely to reject a CVA but accept a lower bid for Tynecastle.  Without a stadium, a Newco is unlikely.  The best Hearts fans could be faced with is going “Cap in hand”, as they sing down Easter Road, to Hibs, with a request for Newco to ground-share.

Wallace Mercer was ahead of his time. Flats, flats……….

If that is true it will be Mathews at right back with Lustig and Mulgrew or Effe in the middle and Izzy on the right. Midfield of Sammi, Joe L, Broonie and Forest, Commons and Stokes upfront

Fair comment, but I would rather we retained him. But it would be foolish to hold on to an unhappy player. If so, we move on as always.

if you are still around, well done on winning the contract bud. Great news.

  5. I am disgusted with PL I am in Sweden this week and emailed him to get the tie with the Elfs switched so I could go to the away game. I know its a European game but if he is running the game here surely he could of switched it.

    He didn’t even reply!!

  6. Kevinlasvegas – no chance re jelle Vossen. Genk are too reliant on him. he is their captain, and main striker. Also, they aren’t short of cash. if we want to sign him, we would have to offer a lot more money than we do for any other player these days. Seriously – he might go somewhere for big cash, but it would be a miracle if celtic were to sign him.

I have stated before on here though – we should watch KRC Genk very closely…. they have a lot of players who could add to our squad. if Kelvin W does leave, i would move smartly to sign Koulibaly from Genk – huge french stopper defender – came through the system at metz, along with many other very good players played all age groups for france. Kara Mbodj would also be my choice to replace wanyama – bigger, quick and very strong indeed. Their squad is very similar to ours (Kenyans, africans from scandinavia, scandinavians, tendency to sign athletic players etc etc). in fact, if J Park ever leaves, i would advocate a bid to sign Genk’s Directeur Sportif – Dirk Degraen. they have signed several players who we have expressed interest in/been linked with: Ojo – big nigerian forward from norway, sandomierski -polish keeper who we bid for, and possibly others.

Absolutely, but we take a big risk if him mind’s not 100% on any given match. Dilemma.

  8. Believe it or not we have had a Finnbogason on our books before Kjartan Finnbogason

any chance of him being related to Albert?

Icelandic striker Kjartan Finnbogason joined Celtic in 2005 from hometown club KR Reykjavik, scoring 28 goals in 20 reserve games.

He left Parkhead last year and has since netted nine times in 22 appearances in the Norwegian Premier League and had trial spells this summer with Bristol City and IFK Gothenburg.

That has been bugging me ever since his name was linked to us last week! I was sure there was a Finnbogason on our books a few years back.

Thanks – was beginning to think the gargle had begun taking its toll big time…

Jelle Vossen – what a signing he would be imo.

Apparently Boerrigter scored a hat-trick in 11 minutes in a pre-season friendly. He wasn’t playing against us was he?

  12. Took Mrs TT tae one game, the rh davidson cup final. Told her tae meet me on the train last carriage at Dalreoch as she was in her maws, on she comes with her big brother, wee sister and 5 year old brother. WTF I thought I’m taking a 5 year old tae Hampden, even her da or her eldest brother and sister widnae dae that.

That’s not all, she’s got a grey coat with red collar and red cuffs on complete with red handbag and shoes.

Nearly got lifted after some wise guy retorted after the sheep 3rd goal “who the fck is she supportin”.

    Never again.

  13. Who’s going to be lining up against Elfsborg then, with our current squad?

Assuming new bhoy doesn’t play and Kelvin does, here’s mine

    Forster;

    Lustig

    Ambrose

    Wilson

    Izzaguirre;

    Forrest

    Kayal

Same as Cliftonville, with Ledley, Mulgrew and Watt to come on

  14. It would be a Bentenke type signing if we got Vossen.

Bentenke Villa took punt on and repaid. Think Vossen would be the same, so would Finnboggasson.

Would be greedy to ask for the two :) :) :)

Come on Pedro gives us wee present.

  15. Vossen won’t need time to Jelle. Type of player to hit the ground running.

    I’ll get my coat :) :) :)

  16. Genk are wanting €8 million for Vossen though. So we can basically just write that one off the now.

#Celtic have completed the signing of boerrigter for an undisclosed fee, rapid negotiations meant he would be available for elfsborg

Mulgrew will come in either as a direct replacement for Kayal. or more likely for Stokes given the manager likes to pack the midfield in European games.

    —————Forster——————

    Lustig Ambrose Wilson Izaguirre

    –Forrest Brown Kayal Mulgrew–

    ————Commons—————–

    ————-Samaras——————

Subs – Zaluska Matthews Mouyokolo Stokes Balde Ledley Rogic

  20. Kayal

Is Mulgrew match fit though? That’s the team I’d play away from home, maybe even with Ledley instead of Forrest for the second leg and Commons out right, would keep Kayal in for both
