Alexandro Bernabei was finally announced as a Celtic player by former club, Lunas, in the early hours of this morning. At 21, the left back is the same age Greg Taylor was when he joined the club in 2019.
The environment Alexandro worked in at Lanus could hardly be more different than what he walks into at Celtic. Lunas won only three of the last 20 league games their former defender played in, including his final game, which saw Alexandro red carded. The pressure to win was significantly less than in Glasgow.
That factor possibly permits young talent more scope to flourish; teams stuck somewhere in the no man’s land that is lower midtable of a 26-team league, need not stress about winning or losing too much. Even relegation is a multi-year process in Argentina, no one season alone can put you down.
One year before Alexandro’s contract expired, the reported £3.75m fee is a discount on the money Lanus earned when selling a central defender to Parma last year for €10m, or a midfielder to Atlanta for €6m in 2020. Hopefully that discount is due more to the expiring contract than any perception of the player’s prospects.
Welcome to Celtic, Alexandro! There is a lot of hard work ahead, but it is great to see Celtic work the globe to fine value. Contrast with the days we travelled the M8 to find Chris Killen could scarcely be greater.

Having read back, and with special mention of Sin City’s post @11.07, I have to say that even with scrolling by reading the Blog has become quite the chore trying to find ‘Celtic-minded’ posts.
I myself have not/do not read the IdiotMuppet’s posts for so long I could not put a date to it, but am of course conscious of the sheer amount of drivel necessary to pass by while hunting for some Celtic talk.
I manage it, of course, because it is still there. I understand the view’s of some that you should always challenge a Muppet, but I am in the camp of the scroll-by-and-starve-them posters. A troll no doubt, whose sole aim is to disrupt what was (is?) the best Celtic blog on the Timternet, so my opinion is to ignore it/them. Every post it/they get a mention I would assume gives them great pleasure, so deny it/them?
Now, what a season we have in prospect (gleeful rubbing of hands CSC).

Hot smoked thanks for the reply , yes I understand the days of the late 60s early 70s are gone , I just want to see us have a team capable of doing better than we have the past while in Europe . Champion league is beyond us due I believe to the money getting spread around the cash rich sponsored clubs , can anyone remember when for example Man City won anything before the crown prince took them over . I think a club of our stature should at least do a bit better . But with regards the midfield ball winner I mentioned ,I like yourself and countless others witnessed a hatchet job on our young ball playing team in the SC semi final , I not knowing your age if you were unlucky not to have seen the lions will still know that team had class players all over the park , but they also had steel right through the side , even in reserve we had tough boys , Davy hay springs to mind straight away , Roy aitken and of course broonie . it seems to me we don’t have a player like that in the team now , lunstrum , arfield , jack and the best defender in the world bassy we’re leaving it in at every opportunity ,they knew that was the only way to compete against our tanner baw players , the four mentioned would have been yellow carded or sent off had an unbiased referee ( what’s that) been in charge . So yes my friend I would love to see a hardman in our midfield more so to deal with the thugs we encounter domestically. HH
