You did this

470

This year some of your money went to Whizz-Kidz, who help some of the estimated 70,000 children in the UK waiting for the right wheelchair.  They not only provide equipment and life skills, but also offer support to young people.  Take a look at this video to find out the kind of way your cash has changed a life:

We’ve just sent off money to Action on Depression, a Scottish charity working with some of the 10% of the population who suffer from this illness at some point in their lives.  Like all of the recipients of your money this year, there is a feeling that we provided no more than a drop in the ocean of what is required, but with depression we felt that bringing the subject out into the open was as important as the money donated.

This illness can do enormous damage lurking in the shadows, let’s kick it into the light.

Many of you will remember the Martin Chamber Ecuador Trust.  Fr Martin left Scotland some years ago to help some of the most deprived people on earth.  In his words, this is why we helped:

“I would say that people should care about the poor people of Ecuador firstly because they are our brothers and sisters.  On top of that their needs are great: they have no running water, no proper sanitation, no sewerage system and poor electricity.  They have little access to education or to medical care and they are crammed together in bamboo huts – mile upon mile of houses, millions of people living below the poverty line.  That’s why people should care.”

You gave to the Ronnie Coyle Benefit Trust, sadly, Ronnie is no longer with us, you donated to the Aberdour PTA, from the Fife village that hosts our summer get-together, and you gave a donation to The Haven, who help people with life limiting illness from Glasgow and Lanarkshire.  Their story is available in a short video here, take a look at what your money is doing.

All in I’d say you did very well.  Very well indeed.  Have a great Christmas, you deserve it.

  1. just perusing the online press today and they are unanimous they McThumpers elbow was a “swinging arm” . They`re not even subtle about theIr allegiance,it`s like the last days of a rotting empire.

  2. Morning bhoys, cooler today, but hun free as ever.

Hope you all have a good St .Stephens day, tis a funny day in the football gambling world, swithering whether to give it a miss, but the old instinct comes to the fore.

Would be sorry to see Kriss Commons go, but once you fall out of favour with the manager your times up, [ if the rumours are true ] I think we have enough without him.

Whatever, I would much rather be in the position we are in, as to the state the hun find themselfs in, at least this time next year we will still have a football club.

  3. I see from the BBC news that the tories want to bring back fox hunting with dogs.

Someone has brilliantly commented that they should replace the foxes with Bankers, personnaly I would go further and include MPs as well, I am sure it would be a popular sport and might even become the new national sport!

After his last comment, you can replace bankers with Bankier,as far as I’m concerned.

  5. The Honest Mistake on

I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas. Waking up to the news on boxing day that davie weir has been resurrected from his slumber in an old folks home to face the mighty hoops has taken the bite off my hangover. No doubt the headlines will be rainjurs boosted by return of captain. Wednesday shall be my first derby since the mark antoine fortune chalked off goal game. Hopefully there will be less honest mistakes in this game. Hail hail

  6. Merry Christmas to all CQN’rs

McClugger is called Elbows for one reason – the very reason he saw red.

Let them cheat all they want – one way to shut them up – score score score score.

Sammi v Weary – I am getting in a frenzy just thinking about it.

4-0 to the Hoops – McClugger sent off again for an elbow ( sorry forgot it was Collum) and 52,000 of us singing You’re just a Fat Paul Le Guen – Carlsberg Wednesday.

Christmas was great – who’d have thought Celtic would be given a present from Paisley?

I reckon Wednesday will be a tight match, but as long as we win I don’t care how it pans out. If things go as well as we all hope they will I’d fancy Bartley for first use of the soap. He has no discipline and will get caught up in the atmosphere.

  8. David Peter Deans on

    Good morning all,

A very merry christmas to everyone, and lets hope after Wednesday it will be a happy new year. Im just leaning on the side of caution going in to this fixture, the Huns are a wounded animal at the momment, which makes them more dangerous. On form and confidence we should win. So come on Celtic, i want to celebrate going in to the new year 2 points ahead.

  9. just read the bbc match report for ragners – elbows got a red for elbowing – fupping funny so funny

  10. I just don’t like feeling as confident as I do re the hun game.

The last time I felt as confident as this was when one of our coaches a certain Alan Thompson smacked one in off the crossbar, 3-0 if I recall, that will do for me.

Problem today is operation save the hun is in full flow.

  11. Morning Celts, a quick look on this page and it seems most posters are a bit cautious re the huns game on Wed.

I posted last week that I thought we’d win 3-0, this is still my prediction but I have something else nagging at me since the huns awful display against St Mirren, our under 19’s would hammer that lot and I believe we will beat them easily, if the score racks up and it looks like 5 goals victory or more, the huns will kick us off the park in an attempt to be sent off, there will violence on the park and the huns will have insuficient players left to continue (is that 8 players ie 3 sent off?), therefore the absolute humping will be diverted and the game awarded to Celtic at 3-0.

I don’t even need to speak about the rioting huns at or around Celtic Park and in the city, so be careful on Wed Celts.

I wonder what the odds would be for the game being abandoned, remember this is a club who have an inherent superiority complex, they will not suffer a heavy defeat from us and will do almost anything to avert it.

I’m going to the game and expect a 3-0 victory, one way or another.

  12. Who was the ref for TFOD game on Saturday? The boy sure had one set of cajones sending 2 of them off.

  13. I DONT

think xmass can get any better watching the hun squirm and talk of a draw on wednesday being a good result.if only kauto star could win today .

but as ever a hint of caution last year nobody gave us a snowballs chance in the big fire of beating the hun at ipox and we turned the corner with a great perfomance at the new year .

the hun are in a simalar postion ……….i always tend to think the team who need to win or want it more are the team on top in a derby clash …….lets hope neil is not lost on that point .because we cant just turn up and expect win and we all know who the ref is .

  14. This could be a very interesting clash.

Nerves are contagious and Sally is going to be nervous.

Careful strategy could pay big dividends for us.

Welcome them in like the spider to the fly…

This game was a ‘must win’ a few weeks ago – solely for us – but now? That table has turned.

My true fear is that insidious lackey who’s refereeing – he could possibly waste the game for us – and he will be terrified to even look in McCulloch’s direction – thanks to Sally’s attack in the press yesterday.

I expect cart blanche fouls on our midfield but us first in the book.

  15. Vmhan

I see what you are saying, the hun are in a position they don’t like, they will try every trick in the book and then some.

All we need to do is keep our cool, and pass them to death.

After all, this may well be the last derby game as we know it.

‘Only a fool would predict the score of an Old Firm game.’

We are getting far too cocky for my liking.

We dominated the Kilmarnock game and then ended up looking very jittery when they got a goal.

If McShagger plays as well as he’s capable then we could dominate this game and not score.

I assume the squad will be training today and will have forgotten all about Christmas. They need to focus.

  17. There will be no complacency from the Celtic players and management team, we have a score to settle after the game in September, that desire must be burning deep in their stomachs.

Press and harry them when they are in possession, the mistakes will inevitably come.

  18. big test for sir alistair mccoist this week, 8 points dropped since 19.11.2011, the lustre will be gone and he’s hugely reduced options without naismith- he will have them playing as if their lives depended on it. I hope lennie’s showing the bhoys the 2nd half of the last derby game.

  19. Ernie Lynch,

I agree that predicting the result is folly but I will make one prediction.

If we win it will be a poor game , 2 poor sides, best of 2 bad teams.

However if we lose then it will be a Classic.

Didn’t see the Killie game but on Here Bhoys said Sammi was Playing as Striker instead of Left Mid..

Anyone think Lenny tried this with Thoughts on the Upcoming Orc Game..?

SoS, personally i would play Sammy in a free role behind Hoops as a link man between midfield and front. Let him run at the defence and right back who is a weak point for them.

  23. Summa of Sammi

re. Sammi as striker working – it did and it didn’t. I thought he didn’t get into the game properly until his goal. He still has a hard time creating an understanding with Hooper, and if you actually examine their record together, it’s not great. In the Killie game, their partnership came at the expense of Forrest in particular, who once again did not enjoy the role he had to play behind the strikers.

For me, Sammi works best as LS in a 4-3-3, or lone striker – either in 4-2-3-1 (Greece) or 4-4-1-1 (last Jan).
