You did this

470

This year some of your money went to Whizz-Kidz, who help some of the estimated 70,000 children in the UK waiting for the right wheelchair.  They not only provide equipment and life skills, but also offer support to young people.  Take a look at this video to find out the kind of way your cash has changed a life:

We’ve just sent off money to Action on Depression, a Scottish charity working with some of the 10% of the population who suffer from this illness at some point in their lives.  Like all of the recipients of your money this year, there is a feeling that we provided no more than a drop in the ocean of what is required, but with depression we felt that bringing the subject out into the open was as important as the money donated.

This illness can do enormous damage lurking in the shadows, let’s kick it into the light.

Many of you will remember the Martin Chamber Ecuador Trust.  Fr Martin left Scotland some years ago to help some of the most deprived people on earth.  In his words, this is why we helped:

“I would say that people should care about the poor people of Ecuador firstly because they are our brothers and sisters.  On top of that their needs are great: they have no running water, no proper sanitation, no sewerage system and poor electricity.  They have little access to education or to medical care and they are crammed together in bamboo huts – mile upon mile of houses, millions of people living below the poverty line.  That’s why people should care.”

You gave to the Ronnie Coyle Benefit Trust, sadly, Ronnie is no longer with us, you donated to the Aberdour PTA, from the Fife village that hosts our summer get-together, and you gave a donation to The Haven, who help people with life limiting illness from Glasgow and Lanarkshire.  Their story is available in a short video here, take a look at what your money is doing.

All in I’d say you did very well.  Very well indeed.  Have a great Christmas, you deserve it.

Good afternoon to the Celtic family from a wet Central Scotland. I feel we Celtic fans should be more cautious about Wednesday nights game The Poundland mob will raise there game 100% .We also have to consider our home form in our last 3 games 1-0 2-1 2-1 in all 3 games the last 10 mins of each we ended up hanging on nervously we are not demolishing teams and that is a fact. I expect a very hard match and will be more than happy with any kind of win.Its already been mentioned that Chris Commons could be off in th transfer window I have also heard that Blackpool have an offer on the table for Paddy McCourt and the player is considering his future.H.H.

  4. Swally will adopt his tactics from last years league cup final with a 4-5-1 whic when they have possession turns into. 4-3-3. Both Dignity wide midfielders will push high up on to our full backs thus preventing any movement down the wings. In the LC final, we were rank Broony dodgy ankle, kayal couldn’t trap a bag of cement on a very bumpy pitch…. for Wednesday, we need these 2 ghuys to turn up and play at high tempo from the start… and het Dignity turning back to their own goal. Key players for me are James and George who if they can drop a little deeper and pick up possession and run at Dignity will cause real problems.

    If Dan was playing then absolutely certain of victory, defensively we are in the grand scheme of things poor, Victor and Chas together have poor recovery pace, I would therefore go with the following line up;

    ———————- Fraser ——————–

    Cha—— Thomas ——- Chas ———Joseph

    —–Scott ——-victor —–beram—–James

    —————–Gary————————–

    ——————————–George ———

Ki looked lost on Saturday never sure whether to press or mark up, we should use victor and beram to provide the cover and really looking for James to make his mark do what he does best and go past opponents.

If we start well then a comfortable win which in my wilder moments could reach epic proportions, Dignity have a small squad and they are trying to crawl through fixtures, saving themselves for a big push in the spring. There are real question marks over whether they can raise their game, if they cannot then a good Christmas stuffing is a real possibility, which will have the added bonus of shining more light on their off the field financial hi-jinks.

There will be no complacency from the Celtic players and management team, we have a score to settle after the game in September, that desire must be burning deep in their stomachs.

Literally got a box-seat for the game, so it’s all good. My God, if they play Weary Dave, things must be desperate! Hooper and Stokes running them ragged, Sammy down the left. Brown and Kayal to handle the hun thugs in mid. Could Izzie do a wee turn? Raking passes from Ledley. Cha doing his thing. Broonie asserts himself and we learn to love him.

  17. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

Expectation is too high, guys and need tempered. The support’s complaints are too audible at Celtic park when things don’t go as we expect or demand in a run-of-the-mill game. Would hate to hear the moaners starting earlier at this game. So, remember it is our hated foes we face and few games are won easy against them.

Celtic are better than them. But our inability to get forward form full-back, and the demise of Commons, we’re two scoring threats down. Glaring deficiencies from last season and the main reason why we are still struggling.

Having said all that I’d like the Celtic to go for them from the first whistle if we can get an early goal then party time here we come. They are poor, will be bereft of confidence and must not be allowed to settle in to the game.

It’s likely they will revert to Smith’s defensive plans, with forays on the counter and attempting to win set-pieces. They’ll do this to exploit the poor aerial ability of our back four.

Is Lustig available, that’d be a real rabbit-out-the hat.

Am a little the worse for having got myself outside some rather fine burgundy, and rather more of it than originally intended on account of its magnificence, but I am now prepared to call it. Late January/early February by the latest.

Noticeable change in the mood music these last couple of weeks. Real fatalism about the future among those who have a stake in it. Either these guys are unbelievably smart (and I mean way beyond anything I’ve ever seen in the best part of 20 years of this) or they are skint beyond belief.

I agree about the performance though. Whyte has had an easy ride so far. A loss on Wednesday, and especially if followed by anything less than a win against Motherwell will leave the FF brigade howling at the moon. His response to that sort of collapse is to sell anyone sellable and buy no one. Not hard to see how there might be a presentational issue. They are the original angry mob. On his side to date but can turn in a flash”.

  23. Lennon’s passion

I think the issue for us will be set pieces.

With uncle tom collum as ref they have a big advantage in that area.

Also if Neil goes with team from last two games we will struggle to create chances as the Ki and Kayal partnership reduces our attacking options and threat.

I would like to see Neil go for it as they are vulnerable but think he will play cautiously.

The recent elevation of Sone Aluko by the Scottish media and Rangers FC as some sort of “star” is absolutely baffling to me. Aluko at first glimpse looks the part. In his Aberdeen days he had the ability to grab your attention for about 10 minutes before completely fading from a game. Enjoying the schadenfreude of Saturday (us winning, Them losing) I decided to watch their game on TV (which I had recorded) when I got back home from Parkhead. They kept looking for Aluko to do something but apart from one shot across the face of the goal he fell over the ball, let the ball run out of play, ran it out of play himself and generally lived up to my opinion of him as a butterfly who flutters to deceive.

I would have been apoplectic if I had ever seen his name connected with Celtic.

    PaulieW,

I agree with you on Whyte & Co. They are either a clown-comedy troupe or the most talented insolvency team in history.

If they raise the minimum cash required to see them through the season (and to hear the FTT(T) findings) they could go beyond Jan or Feb if they so choose. The mystery over their intentions clouds our ability to predict their actions. If profit is the motivation, they will pocket the cash after the transfer window, at least making it available for the Newco.

How much do they fear vilification for a Rangers FC restructuring before the tax case result is known? We just do not know.

The other wildcard is if the current on the field troubles continue. More losses will cause uproar- especially if key players are sold and sizable reinvestment is not made. That could cause Whyte to deviate from any plans for his own profit maximisation. We could see an attempt to replicate SDM / Smith’s very successful spending after Unirea. Too many moving parts to really know what is coming next, but as hinted as on here, Whyte has some other issues that will become increasing sources of anguish.

I recall saying when Whyte’s name first came up as a buyer that I could not believe that someone as colourful as Whyte would be so stupid as to buy a club as high profile as Rangers”.

  27. The avoiding of daft free kicks against them on Wed is key.

Beram get stuck in hard and fair as too many times he reacts and gives childish free kicks away.

    Broonie too.

Davis is their man who keeps them going like him or loathe him, without his influence they are poor.

Stop Davis , Jellylegs and Aluko who will be a danger and the game is ours.

Our team need to look at Cha when fouled who gets up and runs back into position, as we need to let them react as we have seen what happens when they do.

Forrest will be booted off the park but while they are doing that they are not causing our goal any problems and wee James will get free once or twice and deliver as long as we do not move him to the left as we did Saturday and he looks lost.

Keeps Sammy left and James right and the middle tight and goals will come for us.

One question is , who is going to take our penalty on Wed?

I feel we will get one watching them defend recently as Willie (chameleon eyes) Collum will even things up.

  28. Ten Men Won The League on

Greetings and a Merry Xmas to all (apart from any hun lurkers)

I said before the game on Saturday that 3 points was all that counts, the fact they unexpectedley dropped all 3 at St Mirren was a huge bonus

Make no mistake, Wednesday will be a tough game. Collum will not apply the rules as McLean did against their battery of thugs. I sincerely hope they appeal Elbows red card, as any Hun i have spoken to over Xmas wants him nowhere near the first XI as he is a liability. “Ally’s pal” as one of them said to me on Saturday.

Wanyama must be taken out of the defence and into midfield for Wednesday. Wilson + Charlie the CH’s. Cha is our weak link with Lafferty almost certain to be put on him. Brown would be my pick for right midfield in this instance, to give Cha the support as well as give Lafferty a dig or two

Hopefully Matthews, Stokes + Commons returned to training today

  29. I have no doubt whatsoever that we will be victorious on Wednesday, but we need to apply ourselves,100%, no doubt about that. We are a far better in virtually all departments and if we play Super Sammi wide left, and play an attcking , fluent fast tempo game then I can see only glory.

One wee worry I have is that when we are beating them the real ugly side of them will show itself and if we respond then we willl be the bad guys as usual. So, rise above all the crap CELTIC, you know you are better than that trash.

Get to it and make our Christmas one to remember.

    KINGLuBO

  30. Well, I hope we have all recovered from the xmas day excesses? No hangover for me; not drinking can be useful at times. But I did eat way too much.

Two days to go until the big game. Is this another “biggest Glasgow derby ever”? To finish the year top of the league after being so far behind would strike such a massive psychological blow. And a couple of sales of first team players from the dark side would just add to the festive cheer.

I can see this game being a read blood and snotters affair. They will try to stop us playing and we will need to remain calm and patient. One goal might be enough to win this one. I really can’t see us winning by a few goals – but would of course be delighted to be proven wrong.

Sami could well be our key man on Wednesday. After his festive double his confidence must be high and I’m sure he would love to see Auld Weiry lined up in the huns’ defence. 1 – 0 with a Samaras special will do me just nicely.

  31. CELTIC have offered Lukasz Zaluska a new contract – and only if the Polish keeper rejects it will they move for another shot-stopper.

Hearts’ Marian Kello has already been identified as a target by the Parkhead club.

Like 29-year-old Zaluska, the Slovakian international is out of contract in the summer and could be signed on a pre-contract agreement.

But Celtic boss Neil Lennon wants to discover what Zaluska intends to do before he sanctions any approach for another keeper.

Lennon is also very keen to make Fraser Forster’s loan deal permanent, and there is a £2million option agreed with Newcastle to allow this to happen.

However, the Hoops boss wants to ensure there is strong competition for the No.1 spot at the club.

And, while Zaluska has been forced to play second fiddle to Forster for the last season-and-a-half, Lennon would be happy if he decided to remain at Parkhead to continue to push Forster.

Lennon said: “I have got two good goalkeepers. But Lukasz is out of contract at the end of this season. We’ve made him an offer, and he’s going to let us know over the next couple of days what he wants to do. But, obviously, we are always looking for players to strengthen our side.”

Of more immediate concern for Lennon is the condition of James Forrest after the 20-year-old limped out of Saturday’s 2-1 win over Kilmarnock.

The eighth SPL win in a row brought Celtic within one point of leaders Rangers ahead of Wednesday’s Old Firm game.

But Forrest is a doubt after complaining of tiredness and tight hamstrings.

Lennon said: “James was a bit flat, but that’s understandable. We’ll have to see how he is after he gets some rest. But, if we lose him, we have plenty of good players to come in.

“We looked strong in midfield in the second half against Kilmarnock with Joe Ledley, Ki Sung-Yueng, Beram Kayal and Scott Brown. But we want James fit for this game.”

Georgios Samaras was the other casualty of the weekend, coming off after scoring both goals because he was nursing a cold.

Lennon believes the Greek striker will shake this off to play against Rangers and said: “I think scoring in the game before the Old Firm match is good for him.

“At the first goal, what pleased me more than anything was that he got up and powered one in.

“We’ve been waiting for him doing that for a while because he does not score with many headers. And really, for someone of his stature, he should. So that was a huge bonus.”

  32. I see Elbows will be available to play on Wednesday if R*ngers appeal as the SFA have confimed that the Fast Track Appeal process will not be operating quite so fast this week.

Stunning in it’s incompetence. If the process is in place it must operate consistently throughout the football calendar. If fixtures are scheduled between Christmas and New Year then supporting procedures should be scheduled in alignment.

I’m not overly fussed about the presence or otherwise of McCulloch (other than for the safety of our players) but it is utterly comical that fixtures would be scheduled and no provision in place to ensure procedures are consistently applied to avoid clubs “playing the system” – which was the reason the fast track process was introduced.

Celtic to win by two clear goals.

  33. Steinreignedsupreme on

Regardless of what happens on Wednesday the Huns have endured a miserable Christmas and will spend the next two days fretting about outcome against Celtic.
