Your supporter groups, your club, your streets

1022

The umbrella group, Fans Against Criminalisation, issued a statement yesterday (kindly published here by Joe O’Rourke on the Association site) which details a number of events in response to Saturday’s policing on Gallowgate, and the resulting response from the SNP government.  Witnesses are invited to give evidence on Saturday (23rd March), with three protests planned next month.

To the relief of all, I’m sure, the statement also records that issues surrounding meetings two organisations had with the Club in November have been resolved.

Our Club and supporters groups are led by the kind of people you would trust with your most precious valuables, as many of us do.  They each strive in new and innovative ways to herd cats in the right direction, with remarkable success.  The tasks, carried out by hundreds of Celtic fans, of running buses, chasing tickets and navigating the impossible political challenges, is often thankless.  I know a few who wonder why they bother.

They bother because they care.  The office-bearers dedicate even more time looking after the common interests.  There are more Celtic heroes than those who wear the hoops.

I hear Fifa president, Sepp Blatter, has appointed Jeffrey Webb, currently head of CONCACAF, as chief of a newly created Fifa body to fight racism in football.  Mr Webb is a director of one of the largest banks in the Cayman Islands, known for its…. unique standards of propriety.  Nice.

Quick word for Tommy in Glasgow…. brilliant!

From CQN Magazine:
Watt a goal. Celtic started this season’s European adventure against HJK Helsinki..”

  2. Re the FAC protest on 6th April,

This is not within the 28 days required for a march (unless previously applied) from the carry-on on Saturday.

But if, and it’s a big if, they have permission to march after the protest at George Square…

Why not march along London Road… it is, after all, a Scottish Football fans protest…

    No?

I had hoped that you might reflect on the simplistic analogy.

What is the single most effective predictor of literacy levels achieved by young people?

Ill give you a few clues.

It bears no direct relationship to the party in control of local education though there is a link between high educational achievement and the party that those families are likely to vote for.

It bears no direct relationship to the religious persuasion of a school.

It cannot be improved by changing party control or religion.

To assert otherwise is as daft as stating that Labour is voted into power from voters with a disadvantaged background, therefore voting Labour causes poverty. Please don’t tell me you believe that one too.

  7. Listen – I’d be prepared to bet Paul never listened to Tommy’s latest offering. He is a few guys down at his day job and is working flat out. He barely has enough time to get the posts up and doesn’t read the blog as much at the moment due to this – not that he has moaned.

Tommy has done well in all his previous interviews and he has also had Paul on his show and has supported CQN. Paul sticks in a word or two of support and we are suddenly on his case.

It is completely out of order the way the Police acted at the weekend against the Green Brigade. We all know what happened. Who knows about some of the stuff that isn’t discussed so openly – cars getting scratched night after night, CCTV having to get installed – all because someone starts a blog and tells it like it is. Yeah, Paul’s a bad guy for supporting Tommy.

    pggtips,

Really not following any of your attempted justifications for the SNP’s sectarian policy of not promoting Catholics.

You are trying to tell us there are no Catholics good enough to be promoted to their cabinet, irrespective of how you dress it up, the premise is a lie, there are plenty good enough, their problem is they are like you ignoring and refuse to accept they are being discriminated against, cognitive dissonance I think it’s called :o)

  9. pggtips

If you are arguing at the level of how many catholics would it take, I may have to siphen out some of the complexity from my questions.

I missed that but with CL money compensating for any drop in SB sales (and if that is only because of anger at the Board its like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die)it could more than cost in.

It should have nothing to do with the GB, it is either something the support want and something the club should be prepared to deliver as long as the support are willing to meet the cost directly or indirectly.

no but labour are delighted that there are people who remain in poverty, the less educated, free-thinking, creative and independently minded the better.

A very good example is the amount of vacant sites left undeveloped for decades. Every single vacant, derelict site is a blight on the imagination of the people who live there, Labour who’ve controlled Glasgow City Council have owned huge sites on the doorstep of the city centre e.g. Collegelands and left the sites vacant for 30+ years.

And what did Glasgow City Council build after leaving the site derelict for 30+ years…

A CAR PARK! Oh and some offices for Council staff.

    What a surprise!

    Evening Bhoys & Ghirls

This Saturday afternoon through to Sunday evening on CQN, we will be delighted to be offering you the chance to win a fantastic and very unique auction prize.

We have been donated a bottle of Bowmore, straight from the cask from a very kind and generous CQNer. The Whisky is 60% and unlike a normal malt whisky, this has not been cut to the normal 40% proof.

I know that a couple of CQNers have already each received a bottle from this cask and can testify to it’s quality and taste. I believe a further CQNer also awaits his bottle. Each time, a very generous donation has been made to the Wee Oscar 4 Life fund.

However, not contend with donating 3 bottles from his share of the cask, we now have his prized possession:

    Bottle no 1 of 251

A very special prize in aid of a special wee bhoy

Dead club accepted that for 5 players, they broke the law, that came out as part of the FTT evidence.

Secondly, the SPL. Independent commission was only for the SPL games, they can’t rule on SFA or LC games. SFA kept out of it due to being the appellate body for either the SPL or the zombies. The appeals time has expired. RFC were found guilty of breaking the rules – it is the punishment which doesn’t match the crime.

The SFA don’t seem to be investigating the rule breaking for the SFA games over the 11 year period.

Legal action could be taken for lost ticket money, season tickets to individual games. There may/could be a separate shareholder action.

There is plenty of guilt and evidence to clearly demonstrate the SFA have been an abject failure in their governance of the game in the past 10 years. The guilt is unquestionable, it is what we can do about it or what we’re willing to do about it, is the question.
