Your supporter groups, your club, your streets

1022

The umbrella group, Fans Against Criminalisation, issued a statement yesterday (kindly published here by Joe O’Rourke on the Association site) which details a number of events in response to Saturday’s policing on Gallowgate, and the resulting response from the SNP government.  Witnesses are invited to give evidence on Saturday (23rd March), with three protests planned next month.

To the relief of all, I’m sure, the statement also records that issues surrounding meetings two organisations had with the Club in November have been resolved.

Our Club and supporters groups are led by the kind of people you would trust with your most precious valuables, as many of us do.  They each strive in new and innovative ways to herd cats in the right direction, with remarkable success.  The tasks, carried out by hundreds of Celtic fans, of running buses, chasing tickets and navigating the impossible political challenges, is often thankless.  I know a few who wonder why they bother.

They bother because they care.  The office-bearers dedicate even more time looking after the common interests.  There are more Celtic heroes than those who wear the hoops.

I hear Fifa president, Sepp Blatter, has appointed Jeffrey Webb, currently head of CONCACAF, as chief of a newly created Fifa body to fight racism in football.  Mr Webb is a director of one of the largest banks in the Cayman Islands, known for its…. unique standards of propriety.  Nice.

Quick word for Tommy in Glasgow…. brilliant!

Watt a goal. Celtic started this season’s European adventure against HJK Helsinki..”

  1. Flounce.

    Not fashionable.

    And no one cares.

    I should know.

    Did it.

    Got pelters.

    : > )

  2. Stranraer weren’t promoted two divisions. They went from previous third tier to new second tier. The rules were also agreed before the season started.

It was also easier to promote more teams, because more divisions were created. It simply isn’t a precedent.

Sevco have a point that 12-12-18 shouldn’t be introduced mid-season, but they can’t hedge their bets and claim that it would be fine as long as they’re in the middle 12. Hypocrisy of the highest order.

  3. No one really cares about anything anyway by the looks of things.

    Otherwise…..why charles green?

  4. Earnie lynch – think you will find Roseanna Cunningham is an RC – saw her many times at St Mary’s Cathedral,Edinburgh.

I really enjoy the photos you post mate and most of your Celtic ones have been a screensaver of mine over the years. I’m still on the 1980’s Jungle one just now.

    Keep ’em coming.

    neveralone,

So your saying we should ignore the GB situation ?

Lets not discuss it, I don’t remember anyone telling anyone that is the only topic we are allowed to discuss, now if I had your problem, it’s most likely I might choose to open my own topic, which I might add, I have done many times on here, when I was bored with what was being discussed. It’s called using you imagination.

Now if you have a problem with using your imagination I think there are courses you can take, in fact I’m sure there are.

Just turning up and bleating that you don’t like what’s being discussed though typical of a small number of contributors is thankfully still a small number, is it because you still don’t like Sammi that you can’t think of anything good to say about the team, now there’s a suggestion, why don’t you talk about the team instead of bleating about what you want censored ?

  7. Sevco do not have a leg to stand on, winning the 3rd Division will leave them ranked about 30th of the 42 teams in Scotland. They are well and truely rooted in the sphere of the last 18. They know it but they are getting desperate as the money runs out. Today Share price dropped to 75p that is the lowest since launch day. The penny is begining to drop and so will Sevco.

I was just thinking that we should inform younger viewers of your lovely images that you have not photoshopped that one and that there was a time when Glasgow buses actually wore that wonderful livery.

nobody deserves to be harrased like this…especialy our own..we must stick together..ofcourse we’l have different views but our aims will always be the same..to live and breathe through Celtic h.h

  11. Mark my words, they’ll be branding men and women ‘fashion-forward’ for the wearing of the green in the months ahead.

So that cat’s out the bag now and they have been caught lying to us all.

We also are being told they are in favour of fastracking the huns – and no denial.

And they want our season ticket money again – I mean how much contempt do they hold us in?

  14. Ernie – not just now but she was Environment Minister a few years back so would have been in the Cabinet

    21 March,

The reason that the seats are getting deliberately and repeatedly broken in section 111 is the fact that certain members of the GB crave a standing area and are trying to speed up the process of obtaining one. Maintenance personnel at Celtic park who have to repair the same have been approached and told not to bother as they will just get broken again. the culprits are hoping that that Celtic will tire of repairing broken seats and will just remove them all and until there’s a change in legislation this isn’t going to happen. Now I would rather my season ticket money was spent on other matters rather than repairing wanton vandalism.

You certainly have no problem with imagination & extrapolating that imagination into fantasy.

I’m ‘impressed’ by how you assess me from one contribution and further assume the content of previous posts to match your imagination.

“Ignore”!!!??? Censored!!!??? You won’t find any suggestion of that in my post.

You illustrate exactly a point I raised though you seem too strident to notice.

Just because you’re views don’t go with the tide doesn’t make them invalid or wrong, I may disagree with some, agree with others, but I will argue the points, if you stick around.

I think there is a reaction to stand with the GB because they are under attack, for me I stand with them for this reason and because I sit close to them, and see little that brings on the level of policing they attract.

    Just an opinion.

  25. Hilarious that we are getting cheap excuses like broken seats etc to try and justify the harrassment of supporters by the police and the club. Pathetic. Ecen read the bizarre stuff on this is a move to help us get to the EPL……honestly

    Just to let you know.

I’ve already sent a letter to my MSP over his contribution to the ‘debate’ and left him in no doubt as to the militarist nature of the police action.

My comments related only to CP issues & internal relationships.

It is surely possible to be critical in one circumstance & supportive in another.

How much do you reckon your attendance at CP earns the club in terms of increased media profile, advertising and sponsorship income etc etc?

  29. The stadium manager disclosed last summer that the club have an application for a safe standing area lodged with GCC; it was going to Building control last I heard.

    Anyone heard anything?
