It was Back to the Future on Saturday afternoon, listening to Aberdeen rescue a point against Dundee was more like 1985 than 2015. TV highlights suggest Aberdeen pounded Dundee, but three excellent goals were enough for the visitors to set the stage for Celtic to return to the top of the league against Motherwell on Wednesday.
Aberdeen have been imperious in recent months. Incredibly, apart from Dundee and Celtic, they have failed to keep a clean sheet only once (at drubbing at Hamilton) since September. That’s title challenging form in any language.
This run is unlikely to endure as the vagaries of form and fortune catch them up, but it appears our long wait for a notional title rival looks to be over. Which is good.

And remember, those gardens don’t ‘duty’ themselves.
Newco Rangers will need a loan, or to sell a player for cash, to avoid imminently slipping into insolvency. If Dave King is confident about carrying shareholders at a March EGM, and has the resources, he should loan the club money to get them through the next two months, no strings attached. A bit like John Keane did for Celtic in 1994. With insolvency looming, Keane, currently a Celtic director, but at the time an agitator for boardroom change, wrote a seven figure cheque, no strings attached, to pay-down Celtic’s overdraft, as the Bank of Scotland threatened to call in administrators.
Anything less than this is playing into the hands of Mike Ashley.

Dave King it is suggested, will shortly join the board of Directors of Rangers International Football Club plc (RIFC). RIFC plc is the parent company of The Rangers Football Club Ltd, which is an SFA member club.
The difficulty foreseen in such an appointment is the requirement for any Director of an SFA member club to meet the SFA’s standard for “fit and proper person”.
For information, Article 10 of the SFA’s Articles of Association requires, amongst other matters that: “The Board [of the SFA] must be satisfied that any such person is fit and proper to hold such position within Association Football.”
The Articles thereafter describe a number of circumstances in which the Board of the SFA might “reserve its discretion” on such an appointment, and include with regard to the person concerned:
…(h) he has been convicted within the last 10 years of (i) an offence liable to imprisonment of two years or over, (ii) corruption or (iii) fraud;
…(j) he has been a director of a club in membership of any National Association within the 5-year period preceding such club having undergone an insolvency event;
Clearly, given that Mr King was liable to 84 years in prison for his tax convictions, and was until 2012 a director of the SFA member club Rangers Football Club plc (in liquidation), he has certain regulatory obstacles to overcome before he can accept the position of Director of Rangers International.
However, the challenge for Mr King may not be quite so difficult as the SFA’s rules appear to suggest.
It may come as something of a surprise to keen followers of Scottish Football, particularly those who take an interest in the governance of the Game, to find that in June 2013 the SFA’s Articles were amended as regards the definition of a ‘club’. This change was unheralded at the time, and remains little known outside of Hampden Park.
Whereas previously, a ‘club’ was defined as “a football club playing association football in accordance with the provision set out in Article 6”; the revised SFA Articles now define a ‘club’ as:
“a football club playing Association Football in accordance with the provisions set out in Article 6 and, except where the context otherwise requires, includes the owner and operator of such club”
Article 6 requires, inter alia, that a ‘club’ is a member of the SFA.
This change reflects the concept first described by Lord Nimmo Smith in his SPL Commission’s Notes of Reason in 2012, whereby the undertakings of a football club can be separated from its owner and operator.
On ordinary reading, and taken together, one would conclude that the SFA member club is The Rangers Football Club Ltd, and its “owner and operator” is RIFC plc, to which board it is suggested Mr King be appointed.
However, one can adopt a different reading of the rules, such that the ‘club’ is in fact the intangible entity ‘Rangers FC’ as originally suggested by Nimmo Smith, and that its ‘owner and operator’ is The Rangers Football Club Ltd.
Thus, Mr King’s appointment to the board of RIFC plc is outwith the scope of the SFA’s rules, given that RIFC plc is effectively no more than the Owner of the “Owner and Operator” of the “club”.
I am quite sure the Board of the SFA is way ahead of me here.
Don’t fall for it today again guys.

In fact,I agree with what you say,but I find it difficult to defend the manner in which you say it.
Insulting people whose opinions have changed from those you still hold-rightly,in my view-is no way to get them back onside.
Dialogue and debate may work. I hope they do. But your approach simply hardens attitudes against what was once a given.

Those policies benefit the middle class at the expense of the poorest in society.
The nats could have increased taxes to pay for them, but they chose not to. Those policies are paid for by cuts elsewhere.

A company check on David Cunningham King shows that he is currently a director of one active company – Ibriox 1972 Ltd, whatever that is.
So clearly he is not banned from being a company director.
The record shows he was previously a director of RFC (2012) plc – in liquidation – and also the dissolved Murray Sports Ltd.

Posted this yesterday and while it’s not my idea I think it would make a firm statement to the support of how we as a club view the current entity playing out of Govan?
Surprised it was met with a Luke warm response on here. As without making a long winded written statement this simple action may help end some of the understandable scepticism amongst our support.

Free education was indeed introduced by the SNP. Personally I’m all for it,class war or not. And I congratulate them for that.
A four-year course in England could cost £36,000 in fees alone. In Scotland,nada. Zilch. Nowt.
Of course,this headline of free tertiary education ignores the fact that the Labour government in Scotland had previously set maximum repayments at approx £2,000.
In the face of huge opposition from Westminster.
