128 seems impossibly indiscriminate

1423

Banning 128 fans seems impossibly indiscriminate.  I don’t know how it was decided but it sounds like “those eight columns and sixteen rows” – painting with a very broad brush.  If so, the Club must meet with those in the affected area as soon as possible to allow fans who have had nothing whatsoever to do with vandalism or dangerous behaviour to continue to follow their club.  If such a letter arrived on my doorstep, I would want to face the Club urgently.  We’ve all been tarred by the pyros, banners and vandalism, but some are paying a higher price.

Unless there is specific evidence against an individual, the default expectation must be that bans will be lifted after interview.

Back in July, after the Club and the Green Brigade met to agree a way forward following some early season Uefa disciplinary problems, we wondered if either could control every last hanger-on hoping to ‘stick it to the man’.  Statements in recent days from both organisations show how impossible this has proven to be.

When I wrote my article on Saturday I didn’t expect the condemnation of the previous night’s incidents, from all sections of the support, to be so comprehensive.  We’ve seen elsewhere the damage procrastination and deflection can be.  There is no need to deflect.  We will not blame Chelsea fans. Nor is there need for ‘whataboutery’. Vandalising seats and throwing flares is now endemic in our game but Celtic fans are judged by higher standards. The Celtic support is characterised by by enormous generosity. Still.

The wife has spoken about amalfi and positano, also mentioning Capri, going for a week in total, would u recommend hiring a car or is public transport ample in the region.

Capri is lovely – but quite expensive. “If you’re going to Capri, buy film for your camera in Sorrento before you get on the boat…it’s very expensive in Capri”. That advice was given to me by an Italian gentleman with an Americal accent and sheepskin jacket. I thanked him for the advice. I later went into the camera shop in Sorrento and found him behind the till. It was his camera shop. :-)

I have attempted on a few occasions to inform you better on Res12.

Fact of the matter is if Canalamar had not instigated Res 12 Celtic would not have looked at the issue.

For that, not to mention the effort involved you should be grateful that Celtic have shown themselves to be accountable. The very thing the GB are not and has led to their demise.

But you do not appear to do gracious.

  8. hahahaha jist as weel ye put(aircraft btw) or me and Bobby would have been thinking that your wed to the lovely Nigela ! now theres a sight ….wee Nigela with a credit card ….lining up yer brekkies ……hahahahahaha

  9. Bankie…14.14

The inference I think is 128 tickets were allocated to the GB but those seats were not taken by those who were allocated them. Instead they took seats behind the goal and prevented the fans with tickets for those seats from sitting there.

Public transport is rather chaotic /sporadic . .

Driving in southern Italy is somewhat anarchic. . The road between Castellammare and Agerola is fabulous. Zig zag hairpin bend time and fab scenery..An experience !

I haven’t been in Capri since I lived in Napoli [ 1999]. It was beautiful , overpriced and very busy

Like weeminger, I also stayed on Ischia for a week. Absolutely loved it.

I spent 3 days doing trips from the island to Positano, Amalfi, Sorrento and Capri.

I will definitely be returning to Ischia in the next few years, but as the guys have told you, the Amalfi coast is beautiful.

    Their demise? Doubt it

    …………………………………

Was gonna say that WC Fields line “Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated”.

I am not a member and don’t agree with all of their expressed views but I am more sympathetic to them know and more mistrustful of our board now than I was before this media hyped episode began.

The board must be naive in the extreme if they think they can woo the MSM in Scotland and get an easy ride.

The attention of the MSM will now turn on to Celtic in another area and as in the past if there is no story to exaggerate they will invent one.

Remember the story about the drunk in a bar in Barcelona singing IRA songs? That ran for about 4 days?

    This one: http://ifyouknowtheirhistory.blogspot.co.uk/2008/03/celtic-fans-chant-ira-bile-in-barcelona.html

These newspapers are the boards chums now and I judge them by the company they keep.

    Auldheid:

There was a GB before section 111 was allocated to them and I’m sure there will still be one now that it’s been taken away. Of the 128 banned anyone who was not involved in seat breaking or the setting off of pyro should have their bans lifted, this guilty until proven innocent attitude Celtic have adopted to the incident is a joke, there’s plenty of people who will be banned who had absolutely nothing to do with either.

If you can, visit Herculaneum, a town destroyed by Vesuvius at the same time as Pompeii (where I wore the Hoops and the young guy (Napoli fan) taking tickets let us jump the queue as a result).

Herculaneum is much smaller but much better preserved and looks like it was abandoned only last week. Fabulous place.

In Positano, where you get the bus back up the (very steep) hill, a middle-aged woman has a small, nondescript granita trolly.

You will taste nothing nicer on your trip.

Given everything that’s out in the open at this stage, anybody that doesn’t contact the club and say “I couldn’t get to my seat as it was already full in that section” is probably not safe to be out on their own.
