2 January game and subverting Celtic

231

Discussions about normalising ticket allocation between Celtic and Newco were coming to a positive conclusion ahead of the first meeting between the clubs this season when it occurred to Newco the landscape may change by the time they visit Celtic Park in January.

In the late summer, we were back and gathering in our thousands at events, indoors and out, for the most part, jabbed and ready for the world.  When Celtic alerted Newco that an equal distribution of 7,000 tickets would depend on unrestricted access at public events, Newco went cold on the idea.  The prospect of government action with major sporting events in the middle of winter has been actively considered since.

Newco have the curious advantage of playing their most difficult away fixtures: Celtic Park, Pittodrie, Tynecastle and Easter Road, between now and 2 January, when facilities face the greatest uncertainty that they can remain open to full attendances, with or without variants.

Call me a cynic, but that 2 January date looks vulnerable to some of the Scottish Government influences you have become accustomed to.  They have yet to miss a trick when it comes to subverting Celtic.

This is Scotland.

  1. I wonder how a 3-1-3-3 line up would work for us?

    Hart

    Ralston, Carter-Vickers,Juranovic.

    …………………Bitton……………..

    Rogic,McGregor,McCarthy.

    Forrest,Kyogo, Jota.

I guess that would leave us exposed to attacks from the wings but Ange`s philosophy of score more than the opposition should make up for that.

will barbados have a name change”

They are removing ` Royal` and `Crown` type describes .

  3. read the article.

so am I too believe that The Scottish Government is using the pandemic just to subvert Celtic ?

    Id that the summation ?

only a matter of time till it is only declared Celtic supporters who have to isolate.

beep beep they will be along in a minute.

  4. when Rogic comes back, I would swap out Turnbull. Deserves a rest and we look a bit more solid with Bitton or McCarthy holding

  5. Things would have to deteriorate rapidly for a return to closed door games in the next month.

But then we seen a lot of nonsensical covid decisions work against us last season so nothing can be ruled out.

  6. IF and it’s a big IF the new variant turns out to be more transmittable and more deadly and the vaccines are less effective against it then an empty Celtic park on Jan 2 will be the least of our worries.

  7. Rangers loan details

The board were asked for the details of loans.

They are asked if the loans are interest free.

Vice chairman John Bennet said: “The 6 per cent interest is the lowest the club has paid.”

    It’s been over since 1699.

Painful, isn’t it for all us Scottish patriots?

    What might have been, eh?

A Scottish empire! Bossing the world.

Never mind. Nicola will save us. She’s oor pal.

  9. Been in the HTCS since the start, i have only once not taken a ticket, the St Johnstone semi final, no access rights to get a ticket for the final…..

  10. I took a wee diversion route to look at the fabled MurrayPark (call it that it drives the zombies mental) grand stand.

small seated enclosure , one third the length of the touchline, 4 rows of seats – seating 248.

further research finds it was paid for by the “rangers fighting fund” (sounds like a military no surrender siege of derry fund). at a cost of £450,000.

    Its shitey.

    Port Juniors has better facilities.

    big wowee.

  11. i don’t think crowds will be banned again this season. Scotland has allowed relatively low restrictions and accepted a pretty high infection rate up to now (compared to Ireland, a bit stricter than England).

  12. An Dun

Maybe so but it’s a bit early to set that hare running when we know so little about the new variant.

I’d prefer to have read an update on yesterday’s article confirming that Celtic has raised the issue with the appropriate authority. This is something within our control the Jan 2 is not.

I can’t see them closing schools, and Holyrood won’t pay for a furlough scheme, so sporting events ie football might well be a possibility. Depends on the severity of the variant I suppose.

  14. Just as well they don’t spell it Ombicron or it would be an anagram of No Crimbo.

    It’s a conspiracy I tell you……..

Closing stadia while allowing the economy to otherwise run seems exactly like the grand standing nonsense we seen last season.

As gene says, let’s wait and see, but, p67 is entirely right to raise the possibilities.

My positive view has just taken a dunt! Irish Gov now saying I need a PCR (73 hrs) or ‘professional’ Antigen(48hrs) test to get back out of Scotland on 27 Dec.

GLA centre is shut when i arrive on 24th and then 25/26th. Leaves me with 27th at 1pm as last slot before i fly at 3.30. £165 for the 3 of us and they might lift the restriction just before Christmas.

    Decisions, decisions….

  21. Good afternoon,

Enjoyed a wonderful night at the Hydro last night. Some wonderful insights and the humour was excellent. Brought back some wonderful memories as well.

Unfortunately my brother lost his wallet at the event. I know it’s a long shot, but if anyone knows of a wallet handed in would be very grateful if you could let me know. His season ticket was in the wallet. Reported to the police, Bank cards etc all cancelled, and Hydro say there was no trace of the wallet, but just asking on the chance that someone may have handed it in.

    Many thanks

    Dan

  22. Dog whistle leader usual suspects appear

I think Celtic FC should contact FIFA, EUFA, and all human rights orgs about the discrimination the club is being subjected to by the Scottish Government and the entire NHS in Scotland, the scale and depth of this operation to derail Celtic FC attempts at winning the SPFL title are staggering, surely our Chairman Ian Bankier should be calling this out and not leaving it for blogs to deflect sorry I mean fight on behalf of the club, let’s get all the evidence out in the public domain people named and shamed from the Government, track and trace and medical, leave no stone unturned.

  23. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

I agree this is a risk, but I can’t fathom why. The Nats draw much greater support from our support than from the huns. There are also Tims amongst them (Humza and James Dorian).

Can only assume the wee hun FM has calculated she can indulge her dislike for the Celtic whilst still counting on the support of the fan base. Which so far she has been vindicated in.

  24. There are a lot of blog articles I’d like our board to be taking forward on our behalf.

However, they don’t appear to have the ability or the willingness.

Our board is spectacularly good at keeping the powder dry.

  25. The Celtic board do their work behind closed doors, we are told…

Just after the knuckle shuffle handshake, donning of the apron and before the goat is brought out I suspect…

We should take no part in any collaboration with ‘the Rangers’ they detest us and everything we stand for. They are too small or unimportant to be worth consideration, we justify their existence by talking to or about them.

  27. PeterLatchfordsBelly on 30th November 2021 1:13 pm

Did you think that through before posting?

You really don’t know why butchers apron waving huns don’t want an independent Scotland?

Maybe they also don’t support a united Ireland?

Some things just don’t make sense I suppose.

  28. This subversion attempt to undermine Celtic even includes the Scottish Government forcing Celtic FC to appoint Bernard Higgins as a safety officer ? the tweet below and Twitter is full of the shenanigans by Police Scotland in respect to the foodbank collection on Sunday this appointment and harassment by Police Scotland is causing unrest within the supporter base inside the stadium, this part of the dastardly plan to jeopardise our season appears to be very successful as the fanbase believe its the board clever eh

To whom it may concern @CelticFC

…This season offers so much promise under Ange. Supporters are united behind our leader and his new team. Why then would the club jeopardise this ? Re proposed Higgins appointment ? This would be a massive own goal, as disharmony would ree havoc.
