20p per share may be last exit chance on Rangers Mark II

364

There was never any doubt that Honest Dave King would be ordered to make an £11m offer to minority shareholders in Newco Rangers after an enforcement today by the Takeover Appeals Board.

King’s counsel claimed he was “penniless” and unable to make good on the offer, which is a legal requirement on any individual or individuals acting in concert, acquire 30% of a company. I initially considered it was unlikely that many shareholders would accept the 20p price, but the Sinking Ship Scenario is in play. This may be shareholders last chance to recover any investment in Rangers Mark II.

Of course, none of this would have happened if they stuck with the Easdales and Mike Ashley, or Charles Green and Mike Ashley, of anyone else who was able to employ a Nomad or attract tens of millions of pounds investment.  But glib and shameless Geppetto wanted control and he pulled all the right strings.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the game tomorrow.

Just read your posts I don’t have any dogs but I walk my sisters cock-a-poos around our schene anytime am off, there is a Doberman that is left to its own devices, what you went through tonight always goes through my head and I don’t even have a dog myself, hope all is ok

MIT all kidding aside anybody that enters LMS is a worthy winner, although I prefer any winner not to have reached to the dark side (old or new) so LiT has already joined that club with his brother :-)

hope you and your family have a very nice Christmas.

  5. This morning I went to a Requiem Mass for Bobby Darroch at St. Augustine’s Milton.

I only knew him for a year when I played for the St. Augustine’s Boys Guild team when he was the coach 45 years ago but I always remembered him as a man who gave his time to local boys and a great character.

We had a good team that year. We lost one league game 0-1 to Drumchapel and were sitting in second place in the league when we went to the return fixture at their ground. It was nil-nil after seventy minutes when I, who played right back, went up for a corner. The ball broke to me and I hit a shot beyond their goalkeeper to the top corner but one of their players punched the ball over the bar. The referee gave us a corner. We lost the league by 2 points.

One Wednesday in May that year I played for my school in the afternoon and then headed to Alexandra Park for the Boys Guild cup semi-final that evening. After a tight 90 minutes, it was nil-nil so we went to extra time. I was in midfield that night. The pace of the game slowed down. Our keeper kicked out the ball and it looked like it was going to bounce through the the opposition keeper but I made a run for it. I got a toe to the ball, lifted it over their keeper who was 25 yards out of his goal. Our center forward followed up and put the ball into an empty net. We held out to win 1-0 but I was on my knees by now.

In the final we were again up against Drumchapel. I had played every minute of every game that season but Bobby dropped me to substitute for the final. Never forgave him! He brought me on when we were 0-2 down and we did score (nothing to do with me) but we were cup runners up also.

Bobby was a BIG Celtic fan.

In the eulogy, there is a story that Bobby’s son Ian entered an Evening Times competition to win a trip to Lisbon in 67 on behalf of the family. He used the mother Peggy’s name to enter the competition as she was regarded as the “lucky one”. “Peggy” won the competition. Bobby told his mates that he was off to Lisbon but the Editor of the Evening Times decreed that the winner was Peggy and that she should go to Lisbon. Peggy made “very muted protests” but accepted the decision! Apparently, and elderly Irish lady was the other winner and the Editor though that Peggy would be the perfect companion for her. So, Bobby had to watch on tv.

Peggy was “delayed” for a further 3 days in Lisbon (in her 5 star hotel) due to the chaos getting everyone back home.

    ——————————————————-

Bobby was not far off 94 years old when he died and had a beloved wife for 61 years.

    I will remember him fondly.

Hope your family have a lovely time as well, when you attended the Blane Valley ? I was stuck in an office less than 1/4 mile away, would have loved to have had a pint or two, I enjoyed the posts of Mike in Dublin as well, but at least Liam in Toronto didn’t take Rangers/Sevco in LMS & GFS :-)

Thanks for the link. It’s good to hear other interpretations of great songs. Listened to Judy Garland version today on way home from Embra with my grandson. Judy is just the best as far as I’m concerned. My No.1 Christmas song with Fairytale of New York by The Pogues and Kirsty McColl (RIP) my No. 2.

Thank you very much indeed,I’ll wear it with considerable pride.

And I’ll probably only let my Mum wash it!!!

  9. Weet Weet Weet,

Very tough time for you. Hopefully you have close friends & Family to help pull you through.

    TroonCelt,

Kinvara itself is not a place I’m familiar with but obviously I would know the general area of County Galway , I’ve been to Kenmare quite a few times and am very familiar with County Kerry.

What time of year are you planning to go.

James Taylor also does a really poignant version, probably my favourite.

  11. Oh, and, apparently Hampden want the same terms and conditions as the Celtic one from ’94.

    Surely not the same rate????

No, my mole says PAY UP OR DIE, you do not own HAMPDEN when you occasionally turn up….

PS, Neither me or MWD want any money for this infoCSC

  12. Huge game tomorrow. The league’s ours if we win. A draw or a defeat keeps Aberdeen in it. A GMS inspired Dons were on fire last week whilst we lost our Invincibility at Tynecastle. Despite 2 well taken goals midweek it was not a convincing display. The biggest advantage we have tomorrow apart from being at home is that Ryan Christie cannot play. We’ll need energy tomorrow so play Johnny Hayes. Hh

  13. Used to be a tunathon on Friday nights but I’ve been out of the loop for a while.

Anyway, hope all y’all have a loving Christmas & a fulfilled & happy New Year.

I’d like to go back to 4 February 2007, Miami, Florida.

The NFL Superbowl took place in torrential rain that night, and there was some doubt about the Halftime actually happenning.

Prince Rogers Nelson from Minneapolis was in no doubt though and even asked for more rain.

Here’s Prince in his legendary Halftime show that night.

HD versions of it don’t seem to exist so this is a combined HD & regualr compilation edition – but it is complete.

Sound level fluctuates on a few occasions for the same reasons.

Does songs by Hendrix, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Ike & Tina Turner & Foo Fighters – but finishes with Purple Rain in torrential rain.

I think tomorrow’s game could be a cracker (no Christmas pun intended) like you say I would give Johnny Hayes a run to terrorise his old team mates, but am hoping McInnes thinks the high pressing game that Anderlecht & Hearts played (games that were nothing to lose for both teams) but The Dandy Dons have a bit more to lose, got a feeling both Lustig & Tierney can handle GMS

Stephen, totally and absolutely chuffed as a big chuffed chuffed thing for you. A week is a long time in the medical world. From your earlier prognosis to today’s is brilliant.

Keep your chin up and that smile of yours smiling through your upcoming kicking of big C and you’ll come out the other side to see many more Celtic triumphs. It’s gonna be a wee slog for you over the next few months but it’s just paying ahead for the many years to come sharing with your family and us guys here.

Always on the end of the blower for you buddy.

  18. Sounds obvious but if we don’t make any kamikaze defensive mistakes tomorrow we should win without drama.

Taking my aunt who’s over from Canada, my mum, dad and brother so hope we put on a show.

  19. Troon,

Kenmare itself is a nice wee town with some great restaurants & a fantastic Golf Course.

It is a kind of trendy place and you get a lot of Foreigners & Hippy Type personas knocking about.

So from one perspective it’s not a typical type Irish town but in a strange way it works.

The main Tourist thing is The Ring of Kerry which I would recommend. It takes you through some lovely Countryside & towns.

Kenmare is not far from Killarney & The National Park & Muckross in Killarney again a recommended visit.

The road from Killarney to Kenmare is quite narrow & twisty in parts so if you are driving be careful.

Of course being from Cork I totally believe West Cork to be the most beautiful part of the island and it certainly is the place where most of the rebel action took place. West Cork is very accessible from Kenmare.

Closer to the time, give me an idea of your plans and what you want to know and I’ll do my best to put you on the right track.
