£3m DEAL ON BRINK CLAIM: IBROX DEBUT?

CELTIC are on the brink of a sensational £3million swoop for  Cluj striker Billel Omrani, according to reports in Romania.

Negotiations are said to be at the “advanced stage” for the marksman who scored two goals at Parkhead to obliterate the Hoops’ Champions League dreams a fortnight ago.

Omrani, 26, could be paraded as the Hoops’ latest signing this week which could lead to a dramatic debut at Ibrox on Sunday.

Media source GSP.ro claimed the move edged closer last night after Dan Petrescu’s side dropped into the Europa League after a 1-0 second leg defeat from Slavia Prague consigned them to a place in the Europa League.

French Under-20 international Omrani moved to Cluj at the end of his contract at Marseille in August 2016.

He has netted six goals in European competition this season and eight overall in 13 appearances.

Neil Lennon admitted he expected “two or three” signings this week and added Austrian international right-back Moritz Bauer, on loan from Stoke City, yesterday.

Omrani could be next in line with Monday’s midnight transfer deadline looming.

However, the transfer reports of the player’s imminent arrival were NOT endorsed by anyone from Celtic as Lennon prepared his team for the Europa League play-off return leg in Sweden as they defend a 2-0 lead.
