£5m MAN ON STAND-BY

ALBIAN AJETI, last week’s matchwinner against Dundee United, is standing by to make his first start for Celtic against Motherwell at Parkhead tomorrow afternoon.

The 23-year-old Swiss international striker, a £5million arrival from West Ham, is ready to make the step up with Odsonne Edouard still ruled out with a troublesome thigh problem.

The French talisman missed the 2-1 Champions League flop against Ferencvaros in midweek and is still struggling.

Edouard has targeted a return against Ross County on September 12 following the international break. He is in the France Under-21 squad, but it is unclear if he will be fit to travel.

While last season’s 28-goal hitman sits it out, Ajeti, who has made cameo appearances against KR Reykjavik, Dundee United and Ferencvaros, could get the nod ahead of Patryk Klimala to lead the line against the Fir Parkers.

The ex-Basel prolific forward is still working towards his match-fitness, but Neil Lennon could risk him on this occasion.
