£5m MISFIT ON WAY BACK

CELTIC’S £5million misfit Albian Ajeti is on his way back to Parkhead.

The Swiss striker moved to Austrian outfit Sturm Graz on a season-long loan deal in the summer, but the Austrians have confirmed they will NOT be activating the option to make the transfer permanent, as CQN forecast over THREE months ago.

Ajeti, who was bought by ex-boss Neil Lennon from West Ham in August 2020, netted a mere nine goals in 48 appearances for the Hoops before Ange Postecoglou arranged the temporary transfer.

MISERY OF THE £5m MISFIT…Albian Ajeti’s wretched misfiring sequence followed him to Austria during his loan period with Sturm Graz.

However, the 26-year-old misfiring marksman has netted only three goals during his loan switch and is currently in his homeland receiving treatment for a calf injury. He won’t play again for the Austrian Bundesliga runners-up.

Ajeti failed to impress and fired blanks in all five of his Europa League outings.

The Swiss dud is one of the best-paid players at the champions – reportedly picking up around £25,000 per week – and is under contract until June next year.

Sturm Graz sports director Andreas Schicker, speaking in a report in the Glasgow Times, admitted: “The option to buy Albian Ajeti will not be exercised.

DOWN AND OUT…Albian Ajeti is not wanted by Sturm Graz.

“Albi did quite well this season and it was important that we had the option to buy. But we were aware that everything had to fit

“Unfortunately, he didn’t get into the right rhythm to remain injury-free for several weeks in a row

“You could see his quality in individual games. In the end, however, we decided that we would not take his purchase option.”
