CELTIC have been issued a stern ‘hands off’ warning over in-demand AEK Athens goalscoring winger Levi Garcia.
Hoops scouts have been monitoring the dynamic 18-goal Trinidad and Tobago international in action this season, as CQN reported at the beginning of the month.
However, the Greek league and Cup winners have insisted they have NO intention of parting with their hottest property who had been rated in the £13million bracket earlier in the term.
NOT FOR SALE…18-goal winger Levi Garcia is staying, insist AEK Athens.
Now AEK, who picked up £4.5million for flop keeper Vasilis Barkas from the Parkhead club in the summer of 2020, are admanat Garcia is not for sale – at any price.
The club have stated their intention to hold onto the exciting 25-year-old touchline ace until the Champions League qualifiers at least.
Chief executive Dimitris Melissanidis, in a report in the Scottish Sun, said: “Levi is NOT for sale. We’ll happily suck it up and we’ll see later.
“I don’t want to sell him. I want to enjoy him. Do you think everything in life is about money?
“This team will be able to distinguish themselves in Europe and the goal should be the Champions League.”
Garcia still has two years to run on his contract after joining the Athens club for £2million from Beitar Jerusalem in 2020.
It had been previously reported the Parkhead talentspotters had earmarked the explosive flanker as a likely replacement for Liel Abada who is still attracting transfer speculation and could be on the move in the summer.
