90 minute treble tightrope

789

Did we get a fright at Inverness last week?  That’s probably overplaying it a bit, but we didn’t get our own way against a team who have already overachieved this season and are more than capable of raising their game for the big occasion.

This is a team who will have no fears of facing Celtic.  They have a manager who will arrive at Hampden tomorrow with a plan to win the game.

John Hughes will not be the only one with such a plan.  Ronny Deila knows this game is the most important on the roster between now and the end of the season.  Only a potential Scottish Cup Final would be a bigger game.  Without wanting to be disrespectful of Aberdeen’s title push, which is an arithmetical challenge only, we are two wins away from winning the treble, and Inverness are the only top flight team who are able to stop us.

It we do achieve a treble this season it will be our first in 14 years.  Martin O’Neill’s triumph in 2001 was our only one in 46 years, so we have to wait a long time for these occasions.  Unfortunately, it takes only 90 minutes to extinguish the opportunity.  A few refereeing decisions the right way and Dundee United had us in a vulnerable place in the last round.  Without absolute concentration the same could happen tomorrow and the remainder of our season would take on an exhibition-game feel.

Feeling a bit nervous now.

Keep your eye on Kris Commons, he loves Hampden.

Nope I have made it quite clear on here that the SFA or any other club than Celtic, will get any money from me. But fair play to yourself, you and your families commitment to Celtic deserves an award. It’s something we on CQN should be pushing for. At least some kind of recognition from Celtic. The effort you put in as against us reasonably local punters, is astonishing. A wee stoater. :-)))))

Just logged on. You seem a bit anxious regarding not receiving your renewal pack. I am sure you can renew online presently. Saves hassle

    Thanks for that

I was getting anxious as lots of posts about the renewals but now I know that not everyone has received theirs I’m more contented. I was more worried about being moved than getting a ticket to be honest,. I’m not very good on the computer although I am slowly improving :-) I may renew online (when the daughter has time to look at it)

No worries. I am sure you will be fine. I suppose the online removal is only easy if you know what your doing. I usually do our 3 tickets close to the deadline day. It takes a few minutes as your details are stored against the season ticket client number etc.

BMCUWP/thomthethim- the book I’m reading just now is a biography of Bro Duane Allman, my #1 musical hero of all time [ ole Cadizzy gave me it as a birthday present].

What will I do if it turns out, for all his musical genius, that ole Duane was a b*st*rd?

[Actually , so far so good, he comes across as a mixed up Southern white boy [his father was murdered when he was very young] with fantastic empathy for The Motherlode.]

So is it worser to find out that your heroes have feet of clay, or to discover that the people you instinctively dislike have a seam of humanity running through them?

I never once believed that Pastor Jack was inherently evil,as I have said. His preaching of intolerance towards Catholicism had certain outcomes which were inevitable, zig not planned.

The religious divide was his raisin d’être. His pay packet.

As for heroes with feet of clay,we all have them. And in the areas which matter most to us. Whether it be football, music, literature. Even family.

We can love yet criticise. In all the aspects I mentioned above.

I doubt Pastor Jack once read a sermon of love. No harm to his memory by that comment.

Good stuff. Keep it that way, you will be happier.

As ever, bang on the button. When it was 1.1 Bournemouth were down to ten men and I was quite philosophical about it. However when they went 2.1 up with 5 minutes to go, hope kicked in. Won’t let it spoil my night though. As they say that’s gambling.

  19. Weeron- enjoy the Park Bar. Not been in it for many moons. Me and my mate always called ourselves ahem, Campbell & Dougall when we went there…complete with Heilin accents. Never got found out. Early 1990’s mind and it was a good shop to watch the Rhugby when Scotland was playing.

Hope they still have a good selection of malts!

Bourne, re BBC calling the Celtic end the Toryglen end and the Rangers end as the Mount Florida end. Maybe it is because Rangers(IL) are deid they can’t call it the Rangers end and to balance matters, the east stand is now the Toryglen Stand.

A nutmeg is when a player puts the ball through an opposition players legs then collects it at the other side. A ball going through an opponent goalie’s legs, technically, isn’t a nutmeg.

    Nutmeg arguement poised to start.

We need a top performance and better work ethic than Caley tomorrow.

No argument, a nutmeg is collecting the ball once it has been slipped through the opponents open legs, would always prefer the goal right enough

It’s interesting that as I have become older and more comfortable with myself, the philosophies I have tuned into, all start from the perspective that people and humanity is innately good.

Funny that’s exactly what I thought, started in 2012.

Big up for Toryglen though ;-)

You’re also right about a nutmeg. The saddest bit was him pulling the ball back from a metre behind the line instinctively, in the vain hope nobody saw it going in.

  27. Dallas.

Thanks for posting 2.1 game against deadco last night.

As you know that’s the game I was talking about last week. Have to say, my recollection was we won that game easily. Highlights suggested otherwise. Only one team trying to play football though.
