A quick £13m profit for Green and pals

885

Charles Green and his initial backers have achieved a remarkable result with what is already evident in their prospectus.  Page 66 notes: “In the period to 31 August 2012, a total of 25,340,000 shares were issued for a total consideration of £7,719,000”, issued at approximately 30.4p per share.  At a price of 70p per share these shares would be worth £17.738m, a cool £10m profit.

Since that August date Green has enjoyed something of a windfall.  Page 83 notes, “The contractual right to an option over 10 per cent. of the enlarged ordinary share capital of RFCL was exercised by Charles Green on 31 October 2012 by a partial exercise notice pursuant to which 5,000,000 ordinary shares of 1p each in RFCL were issued to Charles Green on 31 October 2012.”

That’s 5m shares, worth 70p each, which is a stunning £3.5m to add to the above £10m!

Have you heard how great the CQN Annual is? You can order online here, not many posting days left before Christmas!

Next month a raft of new bodies will have notifiable shareholdings, specifically: Hargreave Hale, Artemis Investment Management, Cazenove Capital Management, Legal & General Investment and Insight Investment Management, all of whom will seek returns for their money.

2012 was the year Rangers were liquidated.  It was also the year the assets were snatched from the grasp of an array of Rangers fans by people who saw an opportunity.

2013 will bring an SPL Commission and Upper Tier Tribunal issues for oldco but the consequences of these share issues will determine the performance of newco for decades to come.  I think you and me should keep quiet about this.  Let Charlie carry on and do what he needs to do over the coming weeks.

Arsenal were 9/1 to win the shootout when they missed the first 2, I resisted, thankfully.

Any other top club and he would have gone once he reached 4 or 5 years without a trophy, 8 years and counting, makes no difference.

More chance of Arbroath getting underground heating than that!!!

  9. Arsen’s time is up but I expect Arsenal will use more dignity than most. Would fully expect Wenger to see out the season with a close season “football department restructure”.

I think he would fully deserve such respect.

Jock Stein & Bill Shankly would have appreciated something similar!

  10. Real Madrid Loses Cross From Logo…

The top-ranked football team in Spain,

Real Madrid, has removed a Christian

cross from its official logo as a way to

strengthen its fan base among Muslims

in Europe and the Middle East.

    According to Spain’s top sports

    newspaper, Marca, the change was

made to “avoid any form of confusion

or misinterpretation in a region where

the majority of the population is

    Muslim.”

Real Madrid says its decision to remove

the cross from its logo (see image

above) is simply a cost of doing

business in a globalized world. But

critics say the move represents yet

    another erosion of European culture

and tradition in the face of encroaching

    Islam.

The cross controversy comes as Real

Madrid begins to build a $1 billion

sports tourist resort in the United Arab

Emirates. The foundation stone for the

50 hectare Real Madrid Resort Island

was laid in the emirate of Ras al-

Khaimah on March 29; the complex is

scheduled to open in January 2015.

Real Madrid says its resort island will be

the first theme park on an artificial

island to combine tourism and sports,

and it will be the first recreational

tourism complex built under the Real

    Madrid trademark. The complex will

include a 450-room luxury hotel, luxury

villas, a sporting harbor, and the

    world’s first-ever football stadium that

    is open to the sea.

According to Real Madrid, “This is a

decisive and strategic step that will

enhance the strength of this institution

in the Middle East and Asia, a key

region in which the passion for this club

has been apparent. Real Madrid and

    the Government of Ras al-Khaimah

want to transmit the passion of Real

Madrid and what it means throughout

    the world.”

As part of the agreement, however, the

ruler of Ras al-Khaimah, Sheikh Saud

Bin Saqr al Qasimi, required Real

Madrid to remove the cross from the

crown on its logo for all promotional

materials related to the resort island.

The president of Real Madrid, Florentino

    Pérez, dutifully complied.

The cross was first to Real Madrid’s logo

in 1920, when King Alfonso XIII granted

the club his royal patronage. The word

Real is Spanish for royal, and the cross

still forms an integral part of the coat of

arms of the King of Spain.

To be sure, Real Madrid is not the first

Spanish football club to remove a

    “religiously incorrect” cross from its

logo in an effort to appease Muslim

    sensibilities. Some observers, in fact,

say Real Madrid’s move is part of a

concerted effort to prevent a rival

football team in Barcelona from winning

    over the Middle East.

In addition to earning €30 million per

season, the agreement has enabled FC

Barcelona — which claims to be “the

    undisputed brand leader in world

football” — to expand its influence

    throughout the Middle East.

FC Barcelona’s public relations efforts in

the Muslim world have not been

    without controversy. Like Real Madrid,

FC Barcelona has a cross in its official

logo. But after Saudi Arabia complained

that the so-called Cruz de San Jorge —

a red and white cross that forms an

integral part of FC Barcelona’s logo —

was offensive to Islam because it

    evokes memories of the medieval

Crusades, the horizontal line (and thus

the offending cross) was removed from

all FC Barcelona shirts sold in the

    Middle East.

  11. NEIL LENNON last night admitted Anthony Stokes had “been dealt with” after recent poor off-the-field publicity about the player reflected badly on Celtic.

The Bhoys boss has reacted following pictures and stories about his striker back in Ireland.

And he has laid it on the line to Stokes, left, that such behaviour won’t be tolerated at Parkhead.

“We have spoke to him and it has been dealt with internally,” rapped Lennon as he prepared for tonight’s Scottish Cup replay against Arbroath at Gayfield.

We have spoke to him and it has been dealt with internally

“I am not going to moralise to him but you cannot damage the reputation of the club which he did.

“He is aware of that now.”

Stokes found himself on the front pages rather than the back pages recently when he was back in Dublin and attended a memorial party for a murdered Real IRA boss and Celtic have taken a dim view of it.

The striker is likely to have been fined two weeks’ wages but Lennon is convinced he has learned his lesson.

When asked if Stokes had taken it on board he added: “Absolutely, yes.”

These are difficult times for Stokes who has been out injured for months and is not expected to be back until the new year.

When Lennon was questioned on whether it was make-or-break time for his player at the club he declared: “No. But maybe it is in terms of football.

He has been out for the best part of four to six months, so he wants to get back playing and we want him to get back playing because over the last two seasons he has been a very important player for us in terms of goals.”

With Celts facing a glut of fixtures this month there was better news regarding winger James Forrest who has resumed training after his injury-enforced absence

  12. Not so woried at the moment about lenny as i think he’s enjoying proving a lot of people wrong.

My worry is the breakup of a young Celtic team that if kept together could achieve things i never thought id see.hh

  13. Arsenal take a very long term view. As do their fans. They are the top club in the world when it comes to generating their own revenue i.e – no sugar daddies, no loans.

The expected football Armageddon has not materialised. But I don’t see Arsenal suddenly resorting to borrowing to capture trophies. Remember they built a very expensive stadium in a very expensive city. It’s almost been paid off.

The one handicap Arsene Wenger has is he will not countenance a player who takes a drink. So most of ours will be safe from his bony clutches.

  14. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

Personally I’d tell the club where to stick it, it’s not their business if he wants to pay his respects to a deceased friend three months ago, this is outrageous.
