A victory for ugly men everywhere

921

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has managed to register his image rights on the off-shore tax-efficient territory of Guernsey.  Income received there for use of his rights everywhere else will not attract the kind of tax mere mortals pay in their daily lives.

Pellegrini, 60, developed a genial personality to combat profound ugliness, an affliction which has affected him for decades, so news that his image has commercial value is a wonderful boon for the multi-millionaire.  Manchester City will also benefit as any monies they pay for use of their manager’s image will not attract tax or National Insurance contributions.

Uefa president, Michele Platini, who has never had to worry about ugliness, now has a different challenge.  Whether or not to abandon his well-meaning Financial Fair Play aspirations, or get ugly on those who try to usurp his best intentions.

  1. Thanks macjay and googybhoy.

My punters in the pub don’t seem convinced that Hay and McGrain played together loads of times in the hoops, but the ’73 Cup Final reference has won me a fiver.

    Apologies my friend!

I am as you may have guessed awee bit older than you!

I was carried to the ground in the early 50’s by my doting Dad, God bless him.

  7. Look forward to BBC responding to the following complaint, under the bias heading.

During a heated discussion with Tom English with regards to the current financial crisis at Rangers, Chick Young clearly stated on the broadcast that everyone who was anyone knew that at the time of Craig Whyte’s Ill-fated acquisition of Rangers that he was a rascal who was having his Google information cleared up and tidied. This was done by a company called Media House by inference.

    I am a regular listener to this programme and recall;

Many interviews by Young with Whyte where he “toadies” up to Whyte since this is what Young does to Rangers “people”.

The most serious complaint I have that I have NEVER , EVER heard Chick make this observation before. Even during the farcical, ridiculous and unprofessional spat he had with James Traynor one Saturday as they yelled at each other as to who was the bigger Rangers lapdog or poodle. ( that said that spat was, in some respects hilarious in its degree of farce.)

Please have a listen as Chick also advises us that Walter Smith is described as a knight of our realm by Chick who is now regularly displaying levels of professionalism and bias that are reaching ridiculous lows and completely embarrasses whoever is hosting the programme.

In short, Chick is wasting my licence fee money and giving the BBC a very bad name. His pro-rangers bias is astounding and embarrassing to listen to.

  8. Just listened to Chic Young on BBC Sportsound trying to stop the true tide of history coming in on Walter Smith by repeating “the debt was coming down” line and it was Walter who said the banks were running Rangers.

Chico ignores that it was Walter and SDM who gave the banks cause to run Rangers with their foolish spending in 2007/08. The latter made worse by the arrival of the £24m tax bill for EBTs in 2008 for which some provision should have been made.

All the supporting figures for Tom English’s Scotsman column are posted earlier at

    http://www.sfmonitor.org/2013/10/scottish-football-administration-in-the-21st-century/comment-page-12/#comment-68385

Rangers downfall started in 2007 when Smith was recalled by SDM to replace PLG and debt replaced EBTs as a method of funding Smith’s team and common sense was shown the door along with PLG.

    Nothing appears to have changed.

Let’s get the facts right here a vote for independence is not a vote for the snp. So some on here because of one badly thought piece of legislation would rather keep the union.

My god I despair, let’s keep shiny Dave, Gideon and the rest of the Oxbridge toffs in charge of us because they have a really empathy with the Scottish people.

  11. Paul67 once wrote this about a good guy who used to come here…

A year ago today one of our community, Martin Rigby, lost his long fight against illness. Martin, or Celticlover as he signed himself on these pages, was a member of the organising committee for our charity golf day, at which he got to know and entertain many of you. He was someone for whom being a Celtic supporter was a reason for permanent joy.

In his and his brother Bobby’s memory, five friends are walking the 70 miles of the first five stages of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela in Spain, to raise money for the Beatson Oncology Centre.

If we should remember them all. Easy said, I know.

You are of course correct that a vote for Independance does not mean a vote for the SNP , my problem is that if we do vote for Independance we are left with a bunch of idiots to choose from to run Scotland.

They will be a different bunch if idiots to the ones running the UK just now but still a bunch of idiots.

  14. Lennon`s Passion @12.03

I can see why you would think that but from the point of view of sales of the CQN annual , it is a good idea. Also, those who wish their names to be included could just as easily be doing so to show that they want to be seen as a part of the CQN community.I am not sure, anyway, that any ” vanity” would be fed by having one`s name among hundreds at the bottom of a page 0:-)

I have not asked for my name to be included as I am already vain enough 0:-)

  15. the hooped crusader,

The SNP’s primary purpose is to achieve independence, so voting Yes is a vote for the SNP.

A Yes vote is not a vote for the SNP to govern, any more than a No vote is a vote for the present UK government.

I’m also sick of the no campaign’s constant sniping, and woe betide if you vote for indy. Smacks of the same propeganda used as the old british empire disintegrated. Where natives were not intelligent or mature enough to run their own affairs. I’ll be looking to buy a new edition of “The rise and fall of the british empire” in 2015 with a new chapter on the end of Union and what the future holds for England, Wales and NI.

  17. The former manager deserves all the respect for what he achieved in the game, but in the on-going crisis at Ibrox, he is not blame-free. Rangers are still stuck in a financial time-warp. And many people have allowed it to happen.

he only achieved it by cheating !!!!!!!!! ffs

Chick has been Walter Smiths bitch since “that” interview some years ago when they got pumped. Chick is grateful, as any slavering dog is, for the scraps he’s thrown. Smith is the main scrap thrower. I’ll assume Tom English is off his Christmas card list now.
