A victory for ugly men everywhere

921

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has managed to register his image rights on the off-shore tax-efficient territory of Guernsey.  Income received there for use of his rights everywhere else will not attract the kind of tax mere mortals pay in their daily lives.

Pellegrini, 60, developed a genial personality to combat profound ugliness, an affliction which has affected him for decades, so news that his image has commercial value is a wonderful boon for the multi-millionaire.  Manchester City will also benefit as any monies they pay for use of their manager’s image will not attract tax or National Insurance contributions.

Uefa president, Michele Platini, who has never had to worry about ugliness, now has a different challenge.  Whether or not to abandon his well-meaning Financial Fair Play aspirations, or get ugly on those who try to usurp his best intentions.

  1. Its about time I stopped being amazed at the stupidity of the hordes, each and every time I think they have reached the absolute height of idiocy,BOOM!!,they manage to surprise me,the latest fawning pleas to have dave king as saviour are SURELY the zenith. Can anyone imagine the sanctimonious bleating we would hear if such an odious individual was being portrayed as the man to save Celtic?,yet, despite all the evidence proving just how shady he is,they are championing his case to become the new messiah at ibrox. It is only my lifelong and intense dislike of all they stand for that stops me feeling sorry for them.

  4. I think recent events show panic in the ranks of those involved in the sectarian agenda in Scotland, the corruption goes all the way to the top.

The use of the police to harass and intimidate Celtic fans, and the reasoning behind it, is clear.

Their plan for a masonic independent Scoddland is doomed, but the threat of sanctioned sectarianism is real, and is happening right now.

Im not an expert in legal matters, but im sure there a few on the blog who are.

Ive seen many beautiful and compassionate things on CQN, and it shows what Celtic fans are all about….im certain we should be putting in some effort to find out if a defence fund is feasible.

Whats going on now is not acceptable.

That’s a pretty major rewriting of history. I always thought it was Nazi Germany that was responsible for the death of so many millions of Soviet citizens.

    It was,pal.

Stalin slaughtered many many more.Probably because he had twice as long as Hitler.

    German fascism /Soviet communism.

    Same poo,different name.

Be enlightened if you can tell me which fact is wrong.

  7. 79 Caps

It’s estimated the Nazis killed around 20 million soviets

Conservative estimates suggest that Stalin was responsible for the murder of over 35 million soviets over the course of his 30 year reign of terror

Over that 30 year period which includes WW2 it’s estimated that approximately 62 million soviet citizens died an unnatural death. This includes the figure killed by the Germans.

    Thanks,mate.Very thoughtful of you.

My interest stems from wanting to find the truth.Hard to achieve.

However, the amount of info. now coming from Russian ( formerly Soviet ) sources means that we now have a much better chance of gleaning the truth, free of Western and other bias.

” … tell me which fact is wrong”

    Neither is a fact.

No reputable work of history – not something written by professional anti-communists or people trying to deflect from the crimes of Hitler – will say that Stalin killed more Soviet citizens than Nazi Germany did.

The equation of German fascism/Soviet communism is your opinion, not a fact.

  12. I heard that the Russian revolution happened because all the peasants were just bored and all this talk of overwhelming injustice is only pinko lefty nonsense.

Oh and the Russian aristocracy were in fact wonderfully humane and generous people. So there.

  13. I am still shocked that after the hate fest at ipox, the police arrest 7 Celtic fans.

The significance of this is blatant…..the ranks of sectarian agenda are terrified that the putrid corruption they engaged in for many many years will be uncovered.

The crumbling monstrosity that is ipox, holds many dark secrets, and they are covering and conspiring to hide the very worst of it.

What we have seen so far…is nothing.

“Conservative estimates”? You should try reading sources other than the Tory Party ;)

It beats me how the USSR was able to defeat Nazi Germany if Stalin bumped off so many of his own population, and most of them men no doubt. Still, your conservative sources may be right.

  20. Fit & Proper? Not according to this quote.

    “I do not believe that

there is a reasonable prospect that the

company can come out of administration. I

    believe that liquidation is inevitable.”

He continued: “I seem to be one of the few

people who actually invested cash into the

club. I have made a claim of £20m on the

basis of non-disclosure by the then chairman,

David Murray, of Rangers true financial

position as far back as 2000.

“Other shareholders may feel deceived like I do

and wish to take similar action. (David Murray

will no doubt argue to the contrary and the

merits of this will be dealt with in due course

    in the appropriate forum.)

“For present purposes however, I simply want

to advise the fans and fellow shareholders

that any benefit I receive from my claim will be

fully reinvested into the restructured football

club. I remain 100% committed to the Rangers

football club and will do whatever I can to

    advance its interests.”

A spokesman for the Murray Group responded

to the comments made by Mr King, who

invested £20m in the club in March 2000 and

    is currently in China.

He said: “We note with some interest, and

much incredulity, Dave King’s press statement.

“It is difficult to understand his motives, given

he has been a director of Rangers Football

    Club since the year 2000.

“Throughout the period of his directorship,

Dave King has attended and participated in

    regular board meetings, including those

    approving the annual audited accounts,

received board papers quarterly, had full

access to the executive management of the

club, and been privy to the same detailed

financial and commercial information as every

    other board member.”

Ha the last thing I would ever read is source material from the tory party! In fact all of my leanings are firmly to the left ;-)

The estimate of deaths while Stalin is in power is over a 30 year period not the 4 years the Soviet Union were involved in the war. (I am of the opinion that without the Soviet Union Germany would not have been defeated)

I have no axe to grind on this, regardless of the true amounts, the loss of life caused by Hitler and Stalin is horrific. It’s unfortunate that people of both extremes of the political spectrum have over the years tried to get some kind of one-upmanship on who was worse. Both regimes were brutal, both were responsible for the untold sufferings, hardship terror and death of millions of people.

It’s probably impossible to ever get a true figure on the amounts that were killed during the 30 years Stalin was in power. A lot of it is guesswork. I have seen estimates as low as 12-14 million – again not including the 20 million deaths caused by the Nazis – and even that is a horrific figure.

The book was written by an MIT Proffessor who, after the colapse of the Berlin wall went over to the Eastern bloc and found some documentation.

It was recommeded to me sometime ago, party as I’m a Technology guy, it doesn’t look at the big picture but gives you an insight into Czarist Russia, through the Bolshivek revolution to the Stalin Era, through the curtailed life of an outstanding Engineer.

The second half of the book looks at Projects after his death and you can see the lost lives, hardship and wasted resorces that could have been avoided if they had listened to him rather than executing him.

Although it was written by an American it’s not political ~ then again by presenting the facts it didn’t have to be.
