Aberdeen 1-3 Celtic

884

Celtic blitzed Aberdeen with three goals in the opening 11 minutes in what at that stage looked set to be a drubbing, but the hosts pulled a goal back in the 12th minute, which set a parity for the remainder of the match.

Leigh Griffiths has had to be patient this season but he made the most of his starting opportunity tonight. The opening goal, came from his corner, which was headed into the net by Dedryck Boyata. Patrick Roberts had a clear chance to open the scoring seconds earlier, but Aberdeen keeper Lewis turned his effort behind.

The second Celtic goal arrived on the 8th minute. There was nothing really on when Griffiths collected the ball wide on the right, but one cheeky nutmeg later and the Aberdeen defence were chasing shadows. Leigh crossed and Callum McGregor fired a shot which was blocked by Logan. The rebound fell to Stuart Armstrong, who contorted his body to make a contact good enough to score.

Again, there was little obvious danger when Leigh Griffiths collected the ball 30 yards out in 11 minutes. The Celtic striker took on two defenders before cracking a shot from 24 yards, which moved and deceived Lewis before smacking the back of the net.

At this point Celtic looked more likely to score six than to settle for three, but, remarkably, the fourth goal of the game arrived just a minute later, when Jonny Hayes lost Kieran Tierney with a quick change of direction before thundering one into the top corner from 23 yards.

It was now Celtic’s turn to rock. Perhaps the game’s most important subsequent moment came after just 14 minutes when Stockley lost the Celtic central defenders, but couldn’t make contact with a cross 7 yards in front of goal.

Celtic’s passing in recent weeks has been exceptional, but they didn’t get this right on a choppy Pittodrie surface, as the unforced error count spiked. The ball rotation we have become used to seeing this season didn’t happen often, underlining the importance of suspended Scott Brown.

16 ROADS – CELTIC ÜBER ALLES:

I’m not sure why you reference the 2.00am post; that post is about Davie Provan and his suffering of ME.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I think you meant to refer the post at 1:49am. I posted that without comment, I usually do because I do it for information and hope those who read it will harbour their own opinions.

There is so much included in the article that I could comment on but it is a minefield. Suffice to say I am glad it is in the past. However, one thing I find hard to reconcile (within the content of the article) is American’s praising the U.K. for oppressing a minority demographic, but then the Americans do have a chequered history of that themselves, and since the book was promoted along the lines that the IRA was “the Islamic State of its day”, would it then be fair to infer from such a promotion that the Continental Army was the Islamic State of its day?

    Hi folks.

That was a long time the blog was down for.

It’s amazing how much I miss it.

    Hall Hail to all.

  7. Lucas Leiva on a free?

Another young Chelsea player linked, Charly Musonda, a winger?

  8. Good evening Ghuys.

Has anybody had any experience of buying match tickets directly from Patrick Thistle, thinking of buying some for Thursday?

    Keep the Faith!

    Hail Hail!

  9. And apparently withdrawing your Under 20s from the development league, in which you finished 6th, to get more competition, is a work of genius!

    Gary 67.

I think Lucas would do a good job for us.

I get the impression , from his comments, thatErik has little interest in being 3rd choice centre back. If we sign Lucas, it may allow Erik to leave, if he decides to do so. Lucas has been 10 years at Liverpool, we could do with a little more experience.

    Hail Hail

  11. I’ve been unable to get on here all day, as a page came saying “ERROR 502” and that CQN was OFFLINE ? Same with my phone.

    anyone else have problems ?

I just love the media spin that it’s a good idea instead of slaughtering them, they must be the stupidest morons on the planet, but they will believe it and buy into it.

  13. I don’t often get a day to myself but that was the case today. Was at cappielow for a youth tournament this morning. Very pleasant in the sunshine. Tell you what their pitch is superb.

I took a walk to James watt harbour. So much change. For the better off course.

Did anyone see the little puffer boat going down the Clyde. Had me thinking of the boats of many faces.

Another wee stop at Newark castle and a swatch at Ferguson’s. Superb what McCall does there. A genuine billionaire who did not save the rangers.

This afternoon was all aboutvthe garden and runs to the dump. Letting me catch up on the homebhoys podcasts. Superb listen to the ones after the guns games. So so funny.

And shout out to mouldy 67 on his interview on podcast #225. Superb Paul.

  14. JIMMYNOTPAUL

Agree, Lucas would be a great signing. Only 30 years old, I thought he was at least 32-33. Would allow us to rest Broonie and in some domestic games, give us experience in European games and play in central defence when we play a back three.

  15. Would it be awfy greedy of me to want Celtic to score 8 against Patrick or hearts just so we are top goals in one game for the season. Take something else of Aberdeen.

  16. Lennybhoy

I bought tickets for the night we won 3 in a row. Patrick were easy to deal with. Just don’t say your a Tim or wear colours when going in

However it did get very tasty in the main stand with a few scuffles breaking out.

  17. Jimmynotpaul on

    Gene.

I think you deserve a podium too.

With regards Lucas considering the level he’s been playing at, he would stroll the SPFL in my opinion. As Gary 67 he could play two positions for us, which just happen to be two of the positions where we are not blessed with depth.

    Hail Hail.
