Aberdeen stand up for the fans against Doncaster and Regan

755

Blogging on the move right now but want to pass comment on one part of the statement by Aberdeen chairman, Stewart Milne.  As he confirmed his club would place the fifth and decisive vote against Sevco being allowed access to the SPL next season he said:

“Reorganisation of the game is a priority and is something we have been actively involved in for a long time, but it is not something that should be rushed through just to deal specifically with one club.

“As we have indicated there are a number of other areas that we feel need to be addressed openly in the coming period if Scottish football fans are to feel that their views have been properly taken into account.”

Those well-paid executives who work for us and on Friday met to discuss a way to reorganise the league structure in the next couple of weeks should pay heed.  As Mr Milne suggests, we are the game, not you.

Just goes to prove rangers are in a league of their own as they owe more than the accumulaive figure of these English clubs .

Quite a revealing statistic on the amount of clubs that have entered into Administration. Football authorities need to do more to stop this happening time and again.

  2. I posted about a week agp regarding the way celtic would vote re newco.

The reaction was sensible – but with the casting vote now cast its time for celtic to be honest? Dont you think?

I agree, the Hibs banner made me laugh. That is rivalry but not rivalry based on naked sectarianism or racism.

My point by highlighting it was that it goes some way to dispel this idea that we’re all in this together to defeat the dark lord.

We would be next if they had their way.

  5. The Quiet Man on

Good evening all. Avid reader of CQN, RTC and AT for the truth that the MSM simply refuses to print.

Like most on here, I can’t quite believe that they are dead, deceased, gone etc etc (a la Monty Python) but yet they WILL be liquidated soon enough.

So why do I still have a nagging doubt at the back of my mind, which won’t quite disappear?

I just can’t quite buy the remarkable landslide of “No to Newco” that has emerged ONLY in the last 2 or 3 days mind. When something doesn’t fit for me or seems odd or plain daft, It leads me to ask “why”.

    For example:

1 Why would Donkey nail his colours so firmly to the mast of a clearly holed and sinking ship (and that’s ignoring the EBTs etc for the moment) and leave himself so utterly isolated that he must surely resign after the vote goes against him on 4 July? No one is that stupid. He is not on a frolic of his own, but the mouthpiece of the SPL members. Therefore, could he possibly have been testing public opinion (ie would the fans tolerate it) on behalf of the clubs to see if the SPL could get away with voting a newco in?

    2. The avalanche of NO to Newco – each new declaration of “No” shouted a little louder than the last – seems frankly a little too easy for my liking. Remember only a few weeks ago we were all very worried that we may not get the to magic No 5. Now it looks le only Killie may support Newco (and even that’s not certain). This smacks of a choreographed movement by the SPL. So why have they all folded so easily. Yes, the risk of losing ST renewals is there, but, what if the real agenda has always been to go as easily on Newco as they possibly can, ie a one season relegation, which Sky and the clubs’ banks can just about swallow, but at the same time get rid of the hated 11-1 voting structure and let the fans think they(the fans) have won the day.

    3. Why has the AT under Lord Calloway not been asked to re- sit to reconsider its sanctions on RFC (IA) for crimes (admitted crimes mind!) which high court judges said were just short if march-fixing.

    4. Why have no charges been brought by the SFA against RFC (IA) for taking a football dispute to the CoS ….which has just encouraged Hughie Green to threaten Oldco’s players (for they still belong to Oldco) with civil court action if they try and leave. Nice eh – esp when he still hasn’t paid a penny to Duff and Duffer for the assets, has no licence to play football anywhere (as in “in the world”) oh, and hasn’t yet bought the ground or training pitch. not yet got the ground.

    5. Why are SFA and SPL bending over backwards for a Newco which can’t produce any accounts for one year, let alone 3, has apparently (per PMcG) sold less than 1,000 STs and seems to have run out of money already, let alone produce a credible funding plan to show it can finance itself for the whole of the coming season. Oh, and can’t confirm who its investors are, so cant possibly pass a Fit and Proper Test.

Can it all poss be because Walter is waiting till all the dirty work is done by Charlie before he steps in to take over when Newco has been safely born into Div 1.

We won’t have won this war for the future of Scottish football if Newco isn’t forced to start in Div 3 and instead, the whole of Scottish Football is restructured to accommodate one team and one team only.

There you have it, my nagging doubt. No wonder I sleep with the lights on.

We do though, have to be prepared for the land grab that’s being proposed. The next couple of seasons are going to be interesting and decades worth of NEWCO humour have been put ion the bank and are earning interest at a rate Mervyn King would be apoplectic with rage at!!!! :)))

Racism can have its roots in generalisation but not all generalisation is racism.

  8. for the spl to thrive it now needs:

a fair share of t.v/ sponsorship income to improve competition/ income for all clubs

a larger league to stop the 4 x per season meeting which bore the life out of fans and reduce competition i.e. having to play celtic 4 x per season = 12 points (madness)

a different point structure: 3 points for win, 2 for score draw, 1 for no score draw, 0 for loss to promote attacking football, to increase interest and reduce negative tactics and to reward attacking football teams with points , should make league challenge tighter.

euro and relegation play-offs, generate interest at the end of season for several clubs and fans, promoting competition and interest while generating money

50/50 split of away tickets income for clubs who have 20000 fans at game to promote better attendances at games.

all clubs have to ensure a 50/50 split of profit from euro participation is put into pot for end of season distibution to all top flight clubs, again to share wealth within the league, to improve competition and to help increase scottish euro co-effic, while rewarding team that participate.

income to wage ratio to ensure all clubs live within their means

max squad size of 22 senior players i.e. 22 years olds + to ensure that youth gets its chance and clubs cant just buy their way to titles.

co-dependency means co-operation and thats what we all need to understand. a competitive league with fair distibution of wealth between clubs and a more competitive competition = greater interest from fans and t.v alike, which again increases income potential for all clubs only when this happens with the slp find its true value and only then will the spl be in a position thrive with or without rangers.

should sevco gain entry to 3rd division the income generated from their participation will filter throught the whole league system. in the event that they return to the spl,spl clubs can look forward to an enhance t.v contracts and sponsorship without any issues of integrety or scottish football being forever tainted. in addition, the newco will be entering into a league they have earned the right to play in and the landscape will ensure less risky business practices and t.v money comes second to football

  9. 'crushed nuts?' 'Naw, Layringitis!' on

imagine for a moment that it emerged that Man Utd had enjoyed the most successful period in their history, 1992 – 2011, as a result of dual contracts. Obviously this is not true, but stay with me.

Would the FA dither in carrying out an investigation?

Would the EPL adopt a ‘blind-eye’ policy?

Would the english media try to blackmail all the other clubs into not adopting sanctions against them?

Would english football accept the ‘too big to fail’ arguement?

Would SKY withdraw/change the terms of the TV contract in the event of Man Utd being punished?

The answer is ‘no’ to all of the above.

Only in Scotland do we think that supporters forcing clubs to do right is commendable. The fact is that, on discovering the misbehaviour at the Govan floater, the football authorities should have taken decisive action.

Irrespective, we are on the threshold of something better without them. Don’t let them back in.

IMO thre is only one route left open to clean up Scottish football, clear out the sfa replaces by non football people, wsministration of rules should never again be discretionary.

Disolve the failed spl and sfl, Single league organisation controlled by newly cleansed sfa.

Auldheids ref idea, seperate body who are hired but reviewed by sfa, with option to go elsewhere if unsatisfied.

I suspect the other clubs were influenced by the actions of their own fans, not by anything the Celtic board have done.

Your PP; does it mean something? Maybe my intellect isn’t up to figuring out what that means, but if you’ve got something on your mind state it clearly.

I couldn’t give a toss about your “intellectual achievements.” Tonight, on a night when this family is as united as it’s ever been, you decided to target a personal insult at me, for reasons which only you understand.

And that makes YOU a halfwit where I come from … and everywhere else besides.

Being part of this Family is about more than just putting money in the till. The attitude that you are only a “true fan” if you do, that you are somehow lesser if you don’t is idiotic, offensive and shameful. Look at the guys who support the club from afar, who get to a game once in a blue moon.

As to my “repeated” reasons for not attending Celtic Park, I will go over them one at a time for you, in case you missed it – as evidently you did.

    1) For many years I lacked the money to buy a season ticket.

    2) For many years I had a job who’s shifts made buying one an extravagance I could not afford.

    3) For one season I did not attend as I made a personal decision not to back the “strategy” that had seen Rangers win leagues we should have won.

The second of these reasons, I have in common with many others in this day and age when we can’t always choose how, when or where we work.

The third was a decision I made without worrying what you or others thought. I had to face the guy in the mirror … the only person I EVER have to satisfy … and he was perfectly fine with it.

The first I don’t like talking about and won’t discuss further except to say that I know other Celtic fans who lack the finances to go to matches … and your comments are an affront and an offence to THEM as well as me.
