Aberdeen stand up for the fans against Doncaster and Regan

755

Blogging on the move right now but want to pass comment on one part of the statement by Aberdeen chairman, Stewart Milne.  As he confirmed his club would place the fifth and decisive vote against Sevco being allowed access to the SPL next season he said:

“Reorganisation of the game is a priority and is something we have been actively involved in for a long time, but it is not something that should be rushed through just to deal specifically with one club.

“As we have indicated there are a number of other areas that we feel need to be addressed openly in the coming period if Scottish football fans are to feel that their views have been properly taken into account.”

Those well-paid executives who work for us and on Friday met to discuss a way to reorganise the league structure in the next couple of weeks should pay heed.  As Mr Milne suggests, we are the game, not you.

  1. Aye so he did…

According to a well-placed source, Green had budgeted for three possible outcomes; life in the SPL, life in the Third Division and also for a year spent as the footballing equivalent of the Harlem Globetrotters should the Appellate Tribunal ban them from playing in Scotland.

  2. Paul67,

cheers for the reply,i cant see how this can be pushed through this year,

can you tell me do all league clubs have a vote on it or can the SFA and the others force changes through

  3. Tim Malone Will Tell on

Paul67 – if Green can’t put a team together or finalize his purchase, does that scupper the three stooges master plan? – or will they carry on regardless with the hope that Walt comes over the hill with the cavalry?

Do you reckon that arrests at Ibrox will even put a dent in their intentions?

Is there any chance that the SPL clubs will bow to fan pressure and demand that Doncaster walks this week?

  4. Paul67 – liked the previous article so much had to show to some neutral on a Ground Hopping website – cheers

Bloke109 – Dec26 hopefully we get the day off. Dundee & Dunfermline can meet in Div 1

SPL to be an 11 team league!

  5. Delighted with today’s progress *posted this morning that we’d have more declarations* and I maintain that the vote will be called off, long before 4th July.

If they had any sense they would withdraw their application, to save time, special thanks to Charles Green for making nearly every night feel like Christmas Eve.

I also maintain the SFA/SPL won’t get them out of jail either, instead they’ll get further into the mire, as they’ve left any planned restructuring too late, especially since supporters have already started to pay for next years season tickets.

    Good people of Scotland CSC

  7. Possibly the most delusional hun yet…

Seven SPL clubs have now made public their intentions to vote ‘no’ to the Rangers newco. But is it all just a big conspiracy? Ok, this is going to sound barking mad and perhaps desperate but I think I’ve worked it out. If you like a conspiracy theory then listen to this one. That’s SEVEN SPL clubs who have now publicly stated that they are going to vote against allowing the Rangers newco into the SPL. But… what if the vote comes along on July 4th and Rangers get a shock victory?

Could all these clubs coming out in public and saying they’re going to say no just be a plot? If they all vote yes and the vote is kept secret, how do we know which clubs said yes and which said no? We don’t. Therefore the clubs save face with their fans, the fans buy the season tickets and the clubs still get the gate receipts etc generated by playing Rangers.

The fans can’t prove that their club said yes. It’s crazy but you just never know. Let’s just see how the vote really goes on July 4th. Yeah I know it’s unlikely but it all just seems a little odd to me that they are all coming out now and telling us all how they’re going to vote.

  8. @bbcjimspence: SFL board to discuss proposals including newco tomorrow. EGM can be called within 5 days. 23 clubs needed to vote newco in to SFL

  9. Tim Malone Will Tell on

I dont like the idea of an 11 team SPL – seems to leave too much leeway for the exact same shenanigans this time next year.

Get Dundee or Dunfermline into the SPL and then every other league shuffling one up.

If there is an empty spot, leave it in Div 3 for ‘Club 10’ in one years time.

Evening Bhoys & Ghirls, just a wee update

Today, we launched our “Small Change for us, Big Change for Oscar” campaign to raise some necessary funds for Oscar. This campaign is fully endorsed and supported by the family.

The campaign will ask you to save your small loose change 1p ,2p,5p and 20p (well I know I am pushing it, but it is a small coin) over the next ten weeks. We are also asking that you get your family, friends and workplace to assist with this, so that we can maximise the funds raised and publicise Oscar’s need for help.

Our Go live date is Monday 2nd July, however, you can start now and get a heads start

I set out this afternoon looking for 50 CQNers to join me in this quest to help wee Oscar. Already, we have 19 fab volunteers, so we just need 31 more CQNers to join in before Monday . Are you game for a challenge?

“It does not matter what fans say on social media. Football clubs do not listen to fans, they listen to Bank Managers and they will be telling them that they have to vote Rangers into the SPL”.

So said Jim Traynor, back when the media believed it would play the key role in keeping Operation Save Rangers on track. The work of thousands of fans, on the forums, on the message boards, on the phone lines and on twitter and texts, ground these plans to a halt. In doing so, we have demonstrated our new power to the people who once thought they had it all.

Yes, people, you read that correctly. Power. It is now in your hands, and my hands, our hands, and we must be far more responsible with it than these people have been. Their arrogance and ego, their complete removal from reality, their reliance on hand outs from one club, their laziness, ineptness and sheer stupidity destroyed their industry by making it irrelevant.

Tonight is a victory for the twitterers, bloggers, stirrers, malcontents, devil dog lovers, kestrel drinkers, howling at the moon mental internet bampots …. OUR DAY HAS COME!

Did you ever think one year ago, when the Great Whyte Hype slid in the door at Ibrox and was hailed as a hero, that you, me, your brothers, sisters, cousins and friends would be here, tonight, standing on top of the mountain, proclaiming a victory such as this? Did you ever think you would look in the mirror at a fully fledged victorious revolutionary?

Look in the mirror. That’s what you are. That’s who we are.

Don’t underestimate what you’ve done here. Against us was set a coalition of the media, club chairmen, entrenched opinion (and do NOT think that’s not a big deal … Rangers, Too Big to Fail was something we ALL wondered about), officialdom which, believe me, would have turned the water cannons on us had they been able to do it and get away with it … if I was being honest, had I know the lengths they would go to, the tactics they would use and the fear they would try and spread I would have said we were backing a loser. For a long time it looked like we were.

The most awesome obstacle facing us was one that might have proved more difficult to overcome than all the others combined; the tribalism which these people were counting on to keep fans of Celtic from joining with fans from Motherwell. The fans of Hearts from teaming up with the Hibs supporters. Those who follow Inverness from finding common ground with the people who watch Aberdeen. They counted on us being unable to come together, to find a way forward … and they were wrong.

That is a credit to every single one of us.

Every time they changed tactics, we held firm. They were never able to outflank us. They certainly never stood a chance of out-thinking or out-smarting us. We have been so far ahead of them at every turn that it made a mockery of their efforts.

The media has been roundly routed here. Traynor, et al, they now know they are without influence.

That’s not to say we can rest on our laurels. This is not yet over, but an important battle has been won. The First Division “parachute” (for a dead club!) is still being mooted, and has to be crushed … but just because the papers say it’s on that don’t mean all hope is gone … They have been wrong time and time and time and time again … and we have been right.

All you West Wing fans will remember this one: “Not all evolution mandates revolution.” Well, this one does. Sadly, the people who run the game in Scotland were so wedded to the old ways and the old ideas that it was going to require a monumental catastrophic event to transform the landscape …. and even when that crisis came, affording the opportunity to change Scottish football forever, they were ready to cast it aside to save the very club that got us here.

Shame on them for that, now and forever. Shame.

And so revolution it was. Congratulations to you all.

    John F. Kennedy said “Victory has a thousand fathers, but defeat is an orphan.” Tonight, this victory truly DOES belong to all of us … and looking across the battlefield, at the routed enemy huddled and begging for mercy, those who presided over it have no excuses, and no one person they can point to and blame;

Craig Whyte, David Murray, Ally McCoist, Walter Smith, Dick Advocaat, Jim Traynor, Campbell Ogilvie, Neil Doncaster, Keith Jackson, Darryl Broadfoot, Darrell King and all the rest of you … as we share the praise, you all must share in the guilt.

And for that you have our thanks. But for your ego, arrogance, spite, envy, greed, stupidity and hate we might not be here tonight, with the old Rangers dead and the new club on the brink.

it’s fair to say … we couldn’t have done it without you,

Kalmar – Nice place and quite a new ground that holds about 12000. Plenty hotels but nearly everyone in Sweden takes their holidays in July so accomodation might be difficult. I’ve recently stayed in the Clarion Packhuset and would recommend it. Getting there by train from Copenhagen, via Malmo, would probably be most direct but Stockholm and Gothenburg are possible with a longer train journey. Cheapest option might be to fly into Skavsta (Nyköping) with Ryanair and hire a car. 4hr drive.

    http://www.kalmar.com/en/ might help aswell.

I’ll probably get shot down in flames here but I haven’t sided with Motherwell supporters or fans of any other club.

I’m a Tim and it’s other Tims that I’ve sided with, those who have watched our club cheated out of league titles and cup triumphs.

I’m glad that the supporters of those other clubs have seen the light and decided to pressure their own chairmen into making the right choices. However, it’s romantic idealism to believe that we were all in this together.

    Just my opinion of course.

  19. at best they should start in 3rd division, anything above this is to start a team off by way of cheating another 30 clubs.

it simply cannot happen no matter how much they want it
