Kinda reminds me of about 30 years ago when my very naive lass needed the toilet after a night out. I’d parked up in Glassford St,IIRC. Not much open around there after 1am.

But she was struggling, and saw the The Duke of Touraine still had lights on.

Aw,hell. Even I knew this wasn’t a good idea, but needs must. Knocked on the door, got told to eff off in no uncertain terms, stood my ground and said she just needs to use the toilet.

Quick word wi the heid honcho at the table,we get the nod and are TOLD to come in. And I’m TOLD to join the table, have a drink, what does your girl drink…

I’ve drank in some places in my time,Shankhill Rd,gangster hangouts in East and South London, but I’ve never been so uncomfortable in my life.

Bassas spoiled her rotten, she loved it,and arranged to go back the following week!

I’m sure they knew that I knew what they were, and took a great pleasure in my pain. That relationship was doomed from that night on.

  6. I still can’t believe (well I can but) that a SFA referee ran past a professional footballer lying on the pitch after a collision of heads without stopping game allowing and hoping for a goal from our opponents. Do referees not have liability under H&S for players health and well-being while they officiate games?

There’s been a fair few of us pointing out H&S and duty of care for quite some time.

    The board ignore it.

Rangers use Ibrox property including WiFi and TV screens as security over £3m funding

RANGERS has agreed to place property within Ibrox including the WIFI system and the stadium TV screens as security over a £3 million funding facility.

It had been known that the Manchester-based financiers Close Leasing, who have offered the working capital, had ensured the funding against the club’s Edmiston House and Albion car park properties.

But now it has emerged that the financial protection required by Close to guarantee Rangers’ performance on its debt obligation has been widened to include movable assets within Ibrox.

They include the stadium catering outlets said to be worth £1.567 million, the Ibrox public address systems valued at £556,000, the bowl TV (£432,000) and the WIFI system (£675,000).

The club has previously indicated that it would be the first credit facility since Sir David Murray sold Rangers to Craig Whyte in 2011.

The value of all the assets being used as collateral for the funds is estimated to be £5.53 million and was set up to cover for any possible extra costs and interest on any default. The Albion Car Park, which is directly opposite Ibrox, and at one time had space for 1200 cars has been valued for at £1.5 million, according to new documents relating to the funding deal.

Edmiston House, which stands derelict and was formerly home to Rangers FC’s Social Club and ticket office, which has also been put up as collateral for the funds was valued at £800,000. Four years ago the building and the car park had been part of a redevelopment plan suggested by previous club owners that never materialised.

The deal has come about as the club struggled to get a banking facility since the liquidation of the so-called Rangers oldco RFC 2012 plc in October, 2012.

The board had said they were faced with a multi-million pound shortfall for this season and next season.

A list of conditions that have to be met include keeping the assets “in good order and where appropriate good working order” except in realtion to Edmiston House which is to be kept and maintained in “a fair condition”.

The assets within Ibrox that are ‘on the line’ is property that can be lifted up and take away and does not include any part of the fabric of Ibrox.

Rangers managing director Stewart Robertson said after announcing the facility earlier this month that it will allow the club greater financial flexibility, “another key step towards normalising the business”.

Rangers have been relying on soft loans from the club’s directors since Dave King won control at an extraordinary general meeting in March 2015.

Mr King, the club chairman had admitted that the loans were necessary to keep the club running due to the lack of a credit facility.

The latest operating company financial report signed off in November showed the business was passed as a going concern while accepting they would require at least £4 million additional funding by the end of this season “in order to meet liabilities as they fall due”.

Further funding of £3.2 million was forecast to be needed next season, although the board says the final amount was dependent on football performance and whether they qualify for lucrative European football participation.

The board said it had discussed the club’s forecast cash shortfall and reached agreement with Mr King’s New Oasis Asset Ltd company to provide additional loans as necessary.

There were interest-free unsecured loans amounting to £15.9 million – of which £6.7 million is owed to Mr King’s company.

Dave King and other investors had agreed to extend their existing loan facilities to July, next year.

The board said at the time that it was “satisfied that those parties will continue to provide financial support to the company and satisfied themselves to the validity of the undertakings”.

And directors acknowledged that without the assurances then “a material uncertainty would exist which may cast doubt over the company’s ability to continue as a going concern…”

The board said that financial support committed before the new credit facility was sought “more than covers the projected the shortfall for this season and beyond”.

Mr Robertson had insisted there was no risk of club chairman Dave King and his fellow investors withdrawing their backing, when announcing the new funding facility.

“Dave and the other investors remain firmly behind the club. The contingency is still there if we need money for a particular project or to head into the transfer market in the summer,” he said.

“A £30 million business with no bank facilities is very, very unusual.”

It is not the first time Rangers have been linked with Close.

According to administrators’ documents, Close Leasing had been owed £1.6 million by the Rangers oldco having had a previous security when it fell into insolvency nearly six years ago. Former owner Craig Whyte had sold future earnings from matchday catering at Ibrox to Close to pay for the lease of kitchen equipment.

Shareholders cleared the way for fresh investment in Rangers last November when they backed moves for a new share issue at the club’s AGM.

Edmiston House and Albion car park have previously been put up as insurance for Rangers financing, under the previous regime at Ibrox.

Three years ago Rangers announced they had accepted a £10 million loan offer from Mike Ashley’s Sports Direct in return for a number of conditions including security over Murray Park training ground, the Albion car park and Edmiston House.

The previous year Laxey Partners announced it had used the assets as security for a £1 million loan. The club had just six months to repay the loan.

And Morelos is not going to bring in £11m either.

Pretty sure that when I first brought the subject up about eight years ago,I pointed out that it wasn’t only the referees and their employer who had a duty of care.

    It was Celtic.

The fact that they’ve said sod all speaks volumes.

  14. Thanks all for the good wishes.

    Mum and Luca doing well.

  15. Morning Bhoys and Ghirls.

Good result yesterday! I will admit to feeling a little apprehensive as kick off time approach yesterday and even more so when Brother Bobby pulled the red card out. Thankfully a KT burst and a left foot blast brought the warm fuzzy feeling back.

    Something to ponder???

It is often said that football is a results business. I think the last few days sum that up really well. Reading back over through the blog in the aftermath of the game on Thursday there was a lot of emotional reactions to the result and some very strong criticism about the players and performance, but was it really that bad???

On reflection apart from the goals conceded probably not, it’s certainly been a long time since I witnessed a Celtic team retain as much ball away from home as they did but by losing 3 abominations of goals its hard look beyond that.

Fast forward to reading back over the comments from last evening and there is a real positive vibe about the team and lots of credit given for the performance but on reflection apart from 2 very well taken goals did the team actually play well? I’d suggest not that much, I’m not sure the tempo was anywhere near how they can play and if Aberdeen and not been so negative they may have perhaps got something from the game.

This post is not to criticise anyone who slaughtered the team after Thursday or showered them with praise for yesterday but merely to spark a conversation on how “results” influence the perception of a “performance”

  16. SEAN1816

We were playing in Russia less than 3 days previously then had a long journey home.

Plus the number of games we have played this season our energy levels must be down.

Hopefully see an improvement in performance and results when we get proper rest between games.

  17. Cant believe the Herald are being allowed to spread lies like this about Rangers.

The story might be true, but it’s lies nonetheless. Lies. Herald Liars. Fenians. liars.

Everything in BearWorld is just fine, so leave them alone.

  18. SCOTT Brown has announced his retirement from international football after an impressive career with Scotland which saw him gain 55 caps and captain his country for the past five years.

And after speaking to new Scotland boss, Alex McLeish, the Celtic captain explained why he has decided to call time on his long and his distinguished international career.

“I have spoken to Alex McLeish over the weekend,” Scott Brown told the official Celtic website. “I really wanted to tell Alex first what I was thinking about things.”

“As I said to Alex, I felt that, given the demands which are increasing all the time in football and at this stage of my career, I wasn’t able to give both my club and country my best and I needed to focus purely on Celtic at this time.

“The football calendar is more and more demanding now, and in terms of looking after my own body and in interests of my family, I felt now is the right time to take this decision.

“I have really enjoyed my time with Scotland and making over 50 caps is something which I will always be really proud of. It was a huge honour to pull on the Scotland jersey every time I was given the opportunity and to be able to captain my country is a privilege I will always cherish.

“I would like to thank all the Scotland managers I have worked with over a number of years. They have all been great men to work with and supported me brilliantly as a player over so many years. I’ve had the honour, too, of working with some great players – great team-mates and so many lads who always gave their all for their country.

“I would also like to sincerely thank the people who are the most important, the Scotland fans. I have had great support from the Scotland fans. I have always given my best to the Scotland team and I know that all the lads in our squad enjoy playing in front of our supporters, who follow the team home and away in such numbers.

“I want to wish Alex and the squad the very best of success for the future and particularly for the upcoming campaign. I hope he can do what we had always aimed for. Obviously I’ll be supporting the lads all the way as they try to get to the Euros. We have a very good squad of players and I know they will be doing all they can to take the country to a major tournament. I’ll be right behind them.”

  19. It does seem obvious but often not considered especially when emotional both in a happy or angry way. I think its a true fact for all of us that because we invest so much emotionally into Celtic that we tend to react at the extremes and often the truth is somewhere in the middle.

I actually think our European run this is better than most of us think it was but equally despite a trophy in the bag and a 9 point lead the general performances in domestic football have been probably 25% off where they could be.

  20. Seanp

You are 100% correct, we played well enough on Thursday, plenty of the ball, but no inventiveness or killer pass, no darting runs to the bye line, no dangerous crosses, nothing. The lack of creativity was the killer. Maybe we set up for a dour 0-0 but 3 individual errors scuppered that. Who knows?

Yesterday, we were involved in a bloddy battle on a dreadful pitch with a referee determined to hinder us and our players. Yet, despite less finesse and less of the ball than Thursday, we done more with it. Our attitude and apitude was spot on.

    Congratulations Twists and Turns.
