  1. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Hot Smoked , D17 – don’t sweat it.

As Disraeli once said “There are lies, damned lies and statistics”.

The BBC figures are total BS.

If these week old stats were reported to two decimal places they would show something like 3.54 vs 3.56 – which wouldn’t fit the narrative.

Just to be clear and accurate, at 2:20pm on Saturday, both teams will have played nine matches in December with both teams’ first match of the month starting at 3pm on Sunday 02 December.

Those little dears have had, on average, exactly the same rest time between matches as Celtic.

For any lingering BBC halfwit – this is the third year in a row Celtic have had a nine match December.

But that doesn’t fit your narrative either so why don’t you give the statistics a miss and go back to your day job of trying to hawk Moral-less?

    Hail hail

  2. I just don’t get BRs tactics away from CP. Once again we were all over the place until Odsonne came on. Hh

  3. Brilliant result — season defining when all is done and dusted.

Pretty poor performance overall but what a last 15 minutes.

The team was set up very poorly and the attitude was shocking.

For too much of the game there was no cutting edge and no movement up front.

Bring SB back was a double blow.

He is not playing that well and CMcG is a man down playing LM.

Plus JF seemed to be wearing his Ladybird pj’s underneath his kit and TR was demon happy.

Then we had CG playing with the fear and RC showing how much he has to learn.

So the MIB must have thought their luck was in.

And didn’t WC step up to the plate to make it happen.

Pen No. 1 — as noted by others this seems to have added a new dimension to the way the game is played. It will be interesting to see if this new angle continues in future games.

Video on KDS — KT vs Hertz — cleaned out in the box after the cross and nothing given.

Consequently WC is still learning the rules or he has an agenda that does not include fairness.

Then there was the NMcG tackle that some want to diminish — no chance.

He tackled with an energy that put the safety of his opponent at risk of serious injury.

Consequently he should have been sent off — no matter that he slipped.

He was not in control and the slip just reinforced the folly of his action.

    Very poor performance overall.

However OE changed the game and repaid half his transfer fee in less than 20 minutes.

The way he towed the Sheep defender into the penalty area was incredible.

Dry slope water skiing is not a sport but it should be.

    I’m a fan of Izzy

    But

Aberdeen today highlighted his weakness, which Brendan noticed and sorted at HT ?

Hayes has more pace to get back and support defence

I actually think Izzy recovery nowhere near where it used to be ?

He does play well usually with Scotty though

Incidentally thought Boyata lacked sharpness today ( for obvious reasons) and no other dear why Simonuvic was not in squad ?

    Anyone any idea on Simonuvic?

  5. The big decision for me on Saturday is Christie or Ntcham. It’s a big call for the Manager, i would go with Christie as i think his runs through the lines will help Edouard and hurt the opponent. I think BR will go for Ntcham to strangle the midfield and gain good control. Also as Edouard probably wont last the 90 minutes so Christie would be a good replacement.

  6. BOURNESOUPRECIPE@10-24pm

Minceyheidman posted some foreign highlights that clearly showed such

I highlighted the clear push on Gordon at third on here.

But as i said in the interest of fairness eyes in the back of head was facing incident which is why he never blew for the foul.

  7. The last 15 mins especially was a joy to watch. A great advert for Scottish football. The refereeing on the other hand leaves a lot to be desired.

  8. And down in the ” best league in the world” Mo Salah faces a possible ban after diving and conning the referee.

( I may be wrong but I think the refs in the EPL are all full time professionals.)

Players must take responsibility for their cheating and face the consequences.

    HH.

  9. Boyatta and Brown….2 men who knew Celtic had to win today to make Saturday easier.

Johnny Hayes body language and performance was the 1st time he looked like he felt that he belonged.

Same team except Ntcham for Tam…on Saturday.

    Bring Eddie on later

    Sevco 1 Celtic 6

    HH

  10. Matt

Me too, apart from the penalty but I get why he got conned.

Easy to pan the officials but not today.

Just watched the game again and noticed how Craig Gordon stays rooted to his line at penalties. Most penalties you’ll see saved , the keeper is at least a yard off his line and referees seldom order a retake . It’s almost as if Craig has given up before the kick is taken. ,

  12. Nally81

The balance and potency of team improved dramatically when Ed came on.

Before that we were struggling to create chances.

Ed on left and Sinky leading the line for me.

    GLENDALYTONSILS

Can’t remember Gordon ever saving a penalty.

He seems resigned to opponent scoring.

  13. glendalystonsils on

Another clever comment Brendan made post-match was to point out that this is the second boxing day in a row that Celtic fans have had to leave their families for a longish journey to an away game.

  14. Agree re Gordon & penalties. He doesn’t even seem to try. No hopping about, waving hands just seems to pray they might put it wide or over the bar.

He has been a great asset to Celtic and I don’t want to diss him but I do feel more confident with Bain between the sticks.

  15. After last post, just decided to look up Gordon’s statistics on penalties.

According to Transfer Market Statistics he has faced 44 penalties.

    Conceding 41 goals & making 3 saves.

2 saves were in the Premiership, saved one for Celtic Sept 24th 2014 against Aberdeen in the League Cup.

I think you would have to have a few more keepers’ stats to compare that with to be fair , but it does tend to back up my feeling that CG does not cope well with penalties

Interesting views that Collum had a good game.

Three major decisions in the game.

Two penalties and a shocking tackle.

    All favoured Aberdeen.

Other than that I agree he was fine.

    Hail hail

  18. GlenDaly.

    McShagger faced 45, saved 15 conceded 30.

Wouldn’t fancy a penalty shoot out against the Hun.

BACK TO BASICS – GLASS HALF FULL on 26TH DECEMBER 2018 11:37 PM

Yeah , let’s cut Wullie some slack , he got a lot of decisions right . It was only the potentially game changing decisions he got wrong.

  20. Craig Gordon has only ever saved one penalty playing for Celtic, that was away against Hapoel Beer Sheva.

    CORKCELT on 26TH DECEMBER 2018 11:43 PM

Thanks for that info . It’s not an exact science of course as the quality of the penalty is unknown , but it kind of backs up my thinking.

  22. glendalystonsils on

I wonder if our referees are aware of Craig Gordon’s penalty save record? if so , it might encourage them to make decisions like Wullie made today? Just a thought Time for bed.

Can`t see why there should be any emotion amongst our support tonight , other than euphoria.

Two controversial ( euphemism ) penalty decisions given against us , a red shirted mob determined to win against us at all and any cost and yet we prevailed.

Beautiful to win under those circumstances.

Euphoria will do , thank you very much.
