Niall McGinn did alright today. Not a standout by any means but I thought he was a comparable standard to a few of the guys who started today. He certainly has the measure of some of our guys when it comes to pace – which in our team might be better deployed…
I’d still say he would be a stronger return player than Mulgrew – who has been very good.

Thanks for your thoughts. It’s all about opinions.
Terrific to get the ole Gazebo pitched at K Park with Jobo Baldie for EKFC’s 4-1 win over Selkirk in the Lowland League. Decent football, esp first half.
To be honest, if we just wanted to replace Hooper’s goals – Leigh Griffiths would be a better option – if we put him under 24/7 surveillance/ house arrest out with games. Hooper, McGinn and Griffiths all much of a muchness in terms of goals in SPL last year…neither of the other two are marquee replacements but they would cost 20% of what we sold Hooper for..

Both looked composed..and relaxed. The big fella at right back (whatever his name is) had a few bad first touches and looked a wee bit dubious but then began to impress. Rarely looked troubled and I would think very unlikely to be bullied.
Van Dijk – was on for part of 2nd half but he looked decent to me. Composed but then again he was introduced once the team were coasting against 10 men..

Like you, I have been on this blog a LONG time… I think I first started reading a few weeks after Paul started… and from your posts, I know you to be a decent Celtic mhan..
I wish I saw it the way you do… but, honestly, I dont.
I loved this blog when it first started (I still do, but for different reasons), because it shone a light on some areas that weren’t otherwise being challenged (marble staircase kind of stuff) ….
Now, I do think the blog has become perhaps too closely focused on the bottom line, as opposed to looking at corporate governance more broadly … which would include the same kind of stringent analysis that this blog always brought to bear on Sevco’s and the SFA’s governance…
I agree that much of what passes for discussion sometimes is not more than ‘no i’m not’, ‘yes you are..’ sort of school ground stuff…. which frustrates the bejesus out of all of us!
But I do think that a certain triumphalism has set in for a good portion of the posters …
And the guys that seem to want to challenge those leading the club do, in my opinion, get unfairly derided by too many on here.
And I think that certain unconscious biases (often linguistic or financial) have crept into the discussion (for example, your use of the word ‘club’…. for you, is this the same thing as the PLC)…. these are important questions for the club and for those of us on the blog. I personally do not think Celtic ‘the Club’ is necessarily the same as Celtic PLC (although there is a connection/overlap, obviously).
I do get a bit frustrated as well as times… but for different reasons than yourself perhaps… I think this is the best celtic blog, there’s a good bunch of lads, it has asked (as still asks) important questions, and, perhaps most importantly, it has generally lived up to the level of courtesy that Paul, to his credit, has always insisted upon …
but I just find that, increasingly, that level of courtesy isn’t being extended to some good posters on here (who, in my opinion, are asking important questions)….
but, hey, no blog is perfect … and this is still the best celtic site I know, and those guys will, I believe, keep asking those questions….
CowieBhoy, watched on TV, recorded it, Myoloko was excellent, solid and good use of the ball, not afraid of a challenge, not a Bambi. Derk looked solid and composed when he came on, not long enough to judge though.
