One of the problems of doing your business discretely is that if and when agents or selling clubs publicise your interest in their player, media attention has a tendency to attribute too much focus on the most recent name revealed. Teemu Pukki is a player Celtic have been trailing for some months but the fact that his agent yesterday revealed their interest is no indication that he enjoys any pre-eminence over others strikers being considered. If anything, briefings from the agent are an indication of the opposite.
Reports yesterday that Pukki is backup in case a bid for Finnbogason fails are also wide of the mark; this is not the active path Celtic are working on. There are (at least) two other strikers under consideration, neither of whom have directly or indirectly leaked the discussions.
Nothing sells media adverts like transfer ‘news’, which is fair enough, but news is easier to find than the actual story. This is a ‘no news’ article, the easiest of all. No panicking in the back…

Aw Naw – what I’m talking about doesn’t even involve a certain dead club, so how can it be old firm thinking?!
I want our club back at the top in Europe and playing in a far better environment than the current one, as its stifling and killing us. I’d love to see us win the big one again within the next ten years.
What’s it going to take to achieve that? Selling out to the big bad money men like DD?!
Or helping to develop the rest of the Scottish game and making progress there? Not a chance of that with the corrupt, biased, myopic blazers currently ruining the game in this country.
We need out, the sooner the better and we can only hope for major re-structuring within the European game. Forget England, that ain’t happening now or anytime soon.
The problem is, what are we prepared to give up to get to the top again? Look at guys like HT, WG and others who go to all the away games. The away support is viewed as the hardcore of the fans, how would they feel about the club moving to the environment I’d like to see us in?
Now that is a discussion about the soul of the club…!

Benny was in less and less and the story was his son was going to take it on

I have to admit going to more than a few Athletic Bilbao games over the years whilst visiting the Basque country. What a stadium the old San Mames was and the fans were great. Very welcoming. I just hope the new stadium can recreate the old atmosphere.
My first visit to the old St Pauli ground also was an experience. The Milentor had and and have some of the best fans on the planet.

Aw Naw – I think the problem is that UEFA are just as corrupt, but probably not as inept as the games rulers in this country. Without their support, we won’t be able to rip up the SFA from top to bottom. That’s what needs to happen, but as others have posted on here, we can’t do it alone.
I would love to see the club come out and say that the SFA is not fit for purpose, which it is not, but would we get the support required to instigate change? I couldn’t care less what others think of us, but its all about empowering change in the game here.
I’ve spoken to fans of other clubs like the Jags or St Mirren and even after everything that the Huns have done, a lot of their fans think that we are just one cheek of the same erse!
Without the support of the other clubs, change will not happen. Guys like you would applaud the club for doing nothing more than grandstanding, with no net result.

Paul67, Celtic use leaks to the media as much as anyone to further their own agenda. Agents are simply doing the same thing.
This suggestion of a grand plan with numerous targets being pursued is utter nonsense. Transfer strategy is being made up on the hoof and the reason we haven’t signed a striker is because Peter Lawell thinks we don’t need one to beat Karagandy.
