When you’re shopping in a sellers’ market, agility is the only way to survive. You need contacts, sufficient coverage to trawl outlying corners of the bazar, and enough experience to ensure you don’t get burned.
If you’re trying to buy Champions League-calibre players for £100k you’re shopping in a serious sellers’ market but there is good strategy behind the deal Celtic have struck with Icelandic club, Fram, for the signature of 20-year-old striker, Holmbert Aron Fridjonsson.
Holmbert may or may not be the next Ibrahimavic, experience suggests you’ve got to kiss a lot of frogs in this game to find the one you’re looking for, but if Celtic are to bring a player to Glasgow who is capable of hitting the top, we’ll have to get him before the hundred-or-so other clubs floating around the wealthy leagues of Europe, which means we shop early.
We can afford to sign a few at £100k in an effort to fill just one place in the team. The argument could also be made that our more expensive players have only a marginally higher success rate than those signed for six figures or less.

I’ve just read over 60 pages of CQN magazine and I must say it was superb. BRTH’s article on Amsterdam was superb and Joseph Ruddy’s on Sammy and another on Dalglish leaving was equally good. Pardon me for butting in but a pal of mine just discovered his low moods at this time of year are caused by SAD……seasonal affective disorder. Quite common apparently when the clocks go back.
Doc offered him anti depressants but he declined. He has more or less cured it by getting as much fresh air and whatever sunshine there is, as possible.

My 15-month-old baby bhoy goes to a smashing nursery school here in Denia a few mornings a week as we want him to be with other toddlers. This means, of course, he catches everything going.
Last week we were at the doctors with him as he had a fever, a sore throat and some spots on his body. You could have knocked me over when we were told he had HFMD (Hands, foot and mouth disease) – I didn’t even know such a disease existed. Apparently fairly common throughout the world and especially amongst under 5s.
Two days later and I woke up with a raging sore throat and aching limbs, flu-like lethargy and splitting headache. Another couple of days pass and daddy has blisters on hands and feet. Meanwhile DeniaBabyBhoy breezed through his encounter with it with hardly a tear.
Wonder what I’ll get next.

Weefrathe Tim – if it is SAD, I think UV rays are supposed to help (as in a regular visit to a sunbed). You can also get light boxes for light therapy which is recognised by doctors as being effective.

I would rather be going to Dublin than where I am going the morra, a the the total arsehole of a place called Albox, the name is rather familiar with a place that is an equally well know hell hole, it’s full of brits, and they are, in the main winkers, but Mrs TET likes the brit shops there, she can get, in her opinion, proper cleaning products…..dearie me, that’s what our lifes have come to these days >}
