  1. F.A.B. Virgil (WATRC),

    Thanks for that info.

Although not so happy to hear it.

I thought Emilio was outstanding away against Quarabag, after a wee shakey start, he was solid in the challenge, he was going in hard as nails. Emilio hasn’t had the competition for his place that he should have had.

Trust Ronny Deila, he does indeed know what he is doing.

  2. and Commons – im not sure Deila fancys him too much, but whatever people say about his workrate, tracking back etc, he regularly makes a material difference to big games i.e. setting up or scoring goals, in a way no other player does, so unless Ronny can come up with another player that does this, then he is making a noose for his own neck by not playing him in these types of games

“Ajax second goal was a lob into the box .”

That delivery does not come under my definition of a lob. Charlie Gallagher used to deliver delightful lobs for Big Billy to power in headers. Last night’s delivery was a flat drive at pace over the heads of defenders. It is the modern way for corners and free kicks to be taken. Now the Aberdeen goal…… that was a lob.

No appeal for 2 yellows. The Ajax player targeted Izzy which is what I would expect. He simulated in order to get the man sent off. That’s simple cheating. He had been simulating for a while. The ref was not well placed and was conned. The person at fault is the simulator because his actions were deliberate.

My thoughts exactly, the ajax boy was on his way down before izzy lunged at him.

But Izzy gave the ref a choice when he didnt need to.

But we have all saw good players do rash things.

Zidanes head butt being the foremost in my mind!!

Give him a break he has given the best part of his career to Celtic and has been fantastic for us year on year.

    For that I am grateful

  5. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Hi sandman. Quality response. Practically Shavian.

See my response of 10:20 last night. ( yes – others beat u to it with that sentiment! ).

Hail hail (to all of us).

  6. It was a result I thought was about right.

Although some in here who where saying. The same as the SMSM, yesterday this young vibrant Ajax team would do us over, are now saying that they are not that good a team, really?

Why because it didn’t suit your agenda to keep on slagging like you’ve been doing all week?

And even today, people picking out negatives on last nights result, why?

Do you think we have the God given right to beat all who play against us?

Do teams not get players sent off?

Are teams not allowed to score a set piece against us?

Do players not make the odd miss pass?

Do keepers not let in soft goals?

In a domestic league, a manager wins four, draws one, losses one, should be sacked, and the board?

Will every manager who’s team doesn’t qualify for the next stage of the EL be fired?

Are a new back four not allowed time to bed in, and make the odd mistake?

Have we had any luck with officials this year, including the SC Semi final?

    Maybe it’s just me?

  7. Over the years, I’ve seen quite a few goals similar to their second last night and by the same token have seen keepers having to make spectacular diving saves to keep them out. The problem is that Keepers expect someone to get a touch and set themselves up to save the expected change in direction, when it doesn’t happen they are wrongfooted. A second problem with a ball like that is it’s coming through a crowd of players and the Keeper is often unsighted. Any goal conceded is a bad one but one’s like the second hurt more.

Anyhow I prefer to dwell on the two we got and the fact we restricted them to 4 or 5 decent chances over the game.

p.s. There were a few idiotic post match posts, some good ghuy posters object to people using the term Hun or Troll referring to posters with “alternative opinions”. Well I reckon these guys are either Huns or Trolls but at best thy’re fecking idiots.

Well done Celtic, bring on Dundee.

  8. Well that’s 2 carps caught in jig time.

    I wonder if I’ll get a 25lb’er

MWD said AYE and doesny talk about Celtic. Unless you read back of course :)

  9. SETTING FREE THE BEARS @ 8:40 AM,

And Shaun Maloney scored a similar goal against the World Champions.

    Perspective please!

    Hail Hail

  10. Shhhhh, don’t say anything negative…you will get lynched.

But the fact is…we drew after being in control.

Sorry, but imo….izzy should know better….he needs his ass kicked for letting down his teammates.

Perspective here…..Molde beat Fenerbache on their own patch 3-1.

    So….lets not get carried away.

  11. MoonbeamsWD,

I voted No but still waiting for that Pledge to come to fruition.

As I’m saying, Trust noone, well apart from wan. ;)

The Liars are having a field day.

  12. Marrakesh Express on

Just read the Heralds Matthew Lindsay’s sickly sweet lie ridden fawnfest on Warburton.

If he’s that good he’ll bugger off to the first struggling English team with actual money to spend.

Lindsay makes Keith Jackson look like a Tim

  13. I was very negative beforehand and will apologise for that.

Interesting to see how Fenerbahce approach things now. They may lose interest and concentrate instead on their league.

One thing that concerns me about our defence is that last night we had a Swede, Croat, Belgian and Honduran with Nigerian and English subs. Not much common ground for communication there.

Efe is starting to look like Morgan Freeman btw.

No – it’s not just you mate. As you know there are plenty out there who want to talk Celtic down. It’s easy to do this – for example we could say the Lison Lions were simply lucky and only progressed because of a coin-toss and they only had to win against a few teams to get to the final. So no real achievement, eh?

There’s only one solution to this – just keep enjoying being a Celtic fan and leave those looking for negatives (any kind of negative!) to it. You won’t change them and they won’t change you.

Efe is starting to look like Morgan Freeman btw.

    ———————————————-

RED:” I could see why some of the boys took him for snobby. He had a quiet way about him, a walk and a talk that just wasn’t normal around here. He strolled, like a man in a park without a care or a worry in the world, like he had on an invisible coat that would shield him from this place. Yeah, I think it would be fair to say…I liked Efe from the start.”

  16. So, now on CQN…we have not to be honest about our opinions……ffs its not North Korea yet.

We were hanging on at the end because of izzy’s diving in.

    We drew….we did not win.

Now, if that is being negative, I make no apologies for it.

  18. Just going to offer a couple of points because I’m a contrarian

    – I really like the look of Tyler Blackett. He impressed me when playing for Manchester United and has shown enough in his early games to provide optimism. Let’s not forget that Ajax and Aberdeen are possibly our most difficult games of the season. I’d like him on a permanent basis and I think we have a better chance of signing him than we did Denayer. Blackett know LVG doesn’t have plans for him.

    – Efe had his one moment of madness early on when he gave away the ball at the edge of his box. But other than that, he was a rock last night. A couple of good tackles and a lot of headed clearances give the impression that he has some confidence back. I think he’s a player.

NATKNOW – the Lisbon Lions did not progress because of a coin toss – that was the 1970 team.

  20. Anyone see last night’s formation as 4-3-3/4-5-1? That’s what it looked like to me:

    Lustig Boyata Simunovic Izaguirre

    – – – – J’nsen – Brown – – Bitton – – –

    Commons — Griffiths – – – Forrest

    A radical departure for Ronny.

FFS What IS THIS – NORTH KOREA?? AM I NOT ALLOWED TO EXPRESS AN OPINION??? :-)

OK – the Celtic team of the 1970’s must’ve been pish then. :-))

If we are being realistic we would have taken a draw before the game so in no way is the draw a bad result.Yes we might have won it but that is football we have a point on the board a point more than many expected and that point could turn out to be very important indeed. The negative posters need to give it a rest and ask themselves what good am I doing the club by being so negative we are supposed to enjoy the game and love our great club so how about it Bhoys lay off the negativity for a bit. H.H.

  23. By the way, Izzy’s second booking was a shocker. If you watch it again, think to yourself, in what world would Izzy actually get a foot to the ball? Even if he had the longest legs in the world he wouldn’t have got to the ball without going through the player. Absolute madness.

As for the rest of the team, I find it annoying and distasteful when players are getting booked for time-wasting (Johansen and Lustig). We hate it when teams do it to us at Celtic park.

  24. A day of “we only got a draw because ajax are a pub team” and “we only drew because Ronny played ma formation”

Nah. not for me. I’m too cheery today.

    Happy Friday

I wasn’t referring to your post, my point was a general one…..Lets not get carried away with a draw.

It is not being negative to say….we were the better team, and imo, would have won if izzy would have used his head….but he didn’t.

So…to end up with a draw….was for me slightly disappointing.

A bit like what RD thought.

Molde beat Fenerbache 3-1 away……Id say that’s the result of the night.

    And one we should note.

TIMALOY. It was just a poor decision by Izzy to make the tackle and it cost him and us but we cant argue that the wee guy might not be a great defender but he gives 100% every game. H.H.

I saw your post last night to BMCUW re 10/10.

I would be happy to pick you up and take you home afterwards. Stay for as little or long as you like.

It would be great to meet you.

As for me not having a drink on 10/10 that is not a problem as the company will be intoxicating!

If I can help, please get my business email address from Paul67, or maybe some of the ghuys on here could pass mine on to you.

My lappy at home is knacked!

  28. Joe Filippis Haircut on

Last nights results show that the group is wide open and I believe any of the four teams could progress. If we play well and win our home games we can do it so I can see no reason for the long faces and the moaning. H.H.

  29. Easy on guys….

It is reasonable to have mixed feelings about last night.

Yes, it was a result that many (me especially) didn’t expect.

If I had logged on after the final whistle and just saw the score, I’d have been delighted.

On the other side of the coin, we had decent control of the situation and ended up leaving two huge points on the table.

So, once we get over the happiness of getting a result, it is normal to look at how close we got to a major result.

And this is coming from the president of the happy clappers clique…….:)
