Ajer can follow van Dijk to top

600

Kristoffer Ajer made clear to Norwegian media his intentions to leave Celtic this summer. “With one year left of my contract, that would be the best solution for me and my club.  Something is going to happen this summer.”

Kris made it clear to the club two years ago he would not sign a new contract and has stuck to plan since.  For me, he was our stand-out Player of the Year last season and compares to the very best central defenders we have seen in the modern era.

At 23, Kris is one year older than Virgil van Dijk when he joined Celtic in 2013.  I would be hard pressed to pick a more impressive season between Kris’ last season or Virgil’s first.  Virgil was better in the air but I have never seen a Celtic central defender break through the lines as safely or effectively as Kris.  Virgil tried this but was not in the same class.

Just as we knew Virgil could do better than Southampton, Kris can do better than the apparently-keen Newcastle.  Liverpool could do worse than pair them up next season, he will play for a top EPL team eventually.  I hope we keep him for the European qualifiers.

Bigbhoy, you may be correct time will tell. I think Julian always gives his best hence getting injured trying to stop the ball going in the net. His first injury was unfortunate also.

I don’t know if you have a link to anyone at The Scum newspaper .

But for months now many linked news articles here are quoting them .

The latest article on Ntcham is an example.

That newspaper is an utter disgrace .

It’s reporting of the Hillsborough disaster still makes my soul shudder .

Please try and stop giving them the oxygen of exposure on CQN .

I think we missed a very good chance to try out some

of the youngsters after the scum won the league

For this alone Kennedy and Strachan should be nowhere

    near our new coaching time

As for Julian he is just a big girls blouse – his first injury this

season was mysterious and no doctor in the UK could get to the

bottom of it then he mysteriously got better

I would also have questions about how injured he really

    is at the moment

Injured in the head and dreaming of the big bucks Duffy

was on is his main injury

  4. “injured in the head” is one of those phrases that I thought had been consigned to the bin.

  5. a really terrible way to describe another human being never mind a Celtic player who has had Covid and been injured for 6 months

  6. It’s been a long time since I posted as I can’t be bothered with all the political guff and infighting.

There are still good posters though and good debates from time to time.

My view on the current shambles is that I would urge supporters to fill the ground to support the team 100% regardless of who is playing and how good they are. Be overly vocal in that support but at the same time take every possible chance to be equally vocal in our disgust at the board.

Make sure everybody knows that we are unequivocally behind the team on the park and equally bitterly opposed to those on the board and their anti- Celtic policies.

We can’t possibly win a financial fight as not enough of us would support a boycott etc. We also can’t win a PR war with negativity however we can show that we are the best supporters in the world without endorsing the attempts of the board to undo all that we stand for.

I know that our trophy haul over the past decade is exceptional but we also stand for equality, fairness and consistency and our board have let us down on all of those issues, negligently so.

We (the club) has no backbone at the moment and I believe never will have under the current structure therefore as fans we should take positive, vocal action to take some control of the narrative in respect of what our values are.

It won’t force people out but might make them think about the consequences of their actions.

    Apologies for the long post.

  7. So has our mega board decided to go for skippy, get your head around this, Rodgers to Lennon to skippy, BIG CLUB. MENTALITY, they fuckin hate us

  8. Gutenburg: I’ll be renewing, to support the team, but like you, I’m extremely unhappy with the board.

I’d love to show my disgust with the board but not hurt the team.

New banner in the empty top tier?

  10. Get your head around this DD surrounds himself with people who say yes to him “money is destructive “ he and lawell have had a free run in Scottish football for a decade and their arse collapsed at the first challenge. Just like the cock I the no one said, so what do they do double down.# ARSEHOLES

  11. Almore

I’m not conflicted, in fact I see it clearly now.

The gulf between the support and the current board is too wide now to bridge and we can either passively protest in small groups or come together and make a noise.

    I choose the latter.

  12. Meant to add Almore – you and the other Irish fans that renew deserve special praise as it would be easy to opt out at the moment due to the distance.

  13. Gutenberg: I’m on the same page. The huns are on their uppers, so depriving our team of essential funding, given automatic qualification to CL group stages next year, makes rebuilding this season vital. I’ll happily travel over to Glasgow and protest outside the stadium, even missing matches, but the last thing I want to do is hand future SPhelL titles on a plate to that shower.

Off to mo leaba. Will catch up in the morning.

Re young Jack Hendry. I was utterly taken aback with the stick the lad took when playing for us the season before last. Why did he catch stick? Because we perceived that, coming from Dundee FC, he wasn’t ‘Celtic class’. Dear me. His performances ranged from sticky to ok to more than decent to really good. Yet still he didn’t get a chance, and I have to say that from where I sit, adjacent to the Green Brigade, a lot of the crap aimed at Hendry came from the Green Brigade corner.

How about we give him some encouragement this time (if there is a ‘this time’?). Faithful through and through shouldn’t be just words. He’s got quality, you could see it at Dundee, and he just needs the kind of belief he’s had at Oostende. If we can’t offer him that we are failing him and we are failing ourselves. Y

Was dismissed on cqn in the early games as being a feartie and not Celtic class.

  16. The overwhelming majority of Celtic supporters don’t give a damn what the Green Brigade thinks.

No fans at club matches – no fans at the Scottish Cup final…….and yet 12,000 at Hampden for the Euro;s, and thousands of drunks in a fan zone day after day as Covid infections rise exponentially…….what is the reasoning? Scotland the Brand – the cult cannot resist it – to hell with public health!

The Green Brigade have never professed to know anything about football.

Hendry bottled it after a few mistakes and lost his confidence. If he’s now found his backbone, good for him, and Celtic.

  18. Celtic forever,

Shocking post. How the hell can you comment on injuries?.Are you qualified?.Have you personally checked the injuries?.Or more likely you just don’t like Jullien, but think this a smart way to put your dislike across.

    Its not.

  19. Danso 1818 ! you rarely get a reply to your posts!! put a wee post that’s against the cult , Guarantee at least two replies, three if the lions bore isna replying to his flock ☝️

Dunderheid Julian should have been fined for stupidity that day he decided to smash his knee into the post.

  21. Brilliant story/recollection of Bobby Murdoch by Tony Haggerty on A Celtic State Of Mind , when he and his dad met Bobby, Jinky and someone else, sorry can’t remember.

Halcyon days when there was a connect with fan and player.

  22. ” Skippy”Dear God.What sort of bloody supporters.,are really out there.?

Getting really disgusted with the level of bile being thrown around on here.

    Time to take a break.

  23. It’s a blog. A blog invites anyone to express their opinion. OK, I get that. But …. my God we have our fair share of anal passages on here at times.

We should never EVER think that our cohort is superior to the dross we expect from THUMS. Turkeybhoy @ 11.34 sums it up nicely. Shocking post about a Celtic player and that’s only one example.
