AJER SWITCHES TO STRIKER

KRISTOFFER AJER, the Norwegian midfielder who will arrive at Celtic in the summer, will be converted to the role of a striker in his remaining games for his club IK Start.
The Hoops have agreed a £750,000 deal for the highly-rated 17-year-old who will quit for Parkhead at the end of the month.
Ajer is an attacking midfielder, but Start have decided to play the youngster up front after a poor campaign so far.kristoffer-ajer-celtic-scottish-premiership_3417366
The teenager has admitted he has no issues with the switch.
He said: “I’ll play wherever the manager wants me to play, but I would have no problem playing as a striker.

“Last season, I scored eight goals and had a spell leading the attack. It worked well and there is no reason it can’t work again.

“I am good at receiving the ball and I would back myself to score when I get the opportunity.”

And Start boss Steinar Pedersen is happy to push Ajer up front in his remaining time in Norway.

He said: “We know what he can do as a striker. He has the physique and the pace to play there.

“He’s not got long to go here before he moves to Celtic and we would have no problem playing him as a striker.”
