The sun shone, McStay’s Maestro’s ‘Celtic’ won from being two goals down and 25,000 people contributed to War Child, Unicef and the Rio Ferdinand Foundation.  Yesterday was another defining yardstick on the Celtic journey.

Getting the balance of these games right, in order to provide an actual ‘match’, is difficult, but the two sides managed it.  There were fewer Directioners there to see Louis Tomlinson than last year, but their contribution to the causes was still welcome.

Frank McAvennie scored a classic Macca goal.  Hollywood A-lister James McAvoy converted a penalty kick and looked as happy as you or I would in the circumstances.  We’re going to struggle when Tom Boyd retired from the Legends game.  Simon Donnelly and Bobby Petta looked like they could still do a job in the pro game, but special mention has to go to Gary Tank Commander (Greg McHugh).  The words “Nice, Lubo”, left my lips as I mistook Greg for someone else after a deft piece of skill.  Don’t ask me to explain.

It wasn’t football as you know it, but it was Celtic supporters doing what they do best – helping those in need.

All this came a day after the Paradise to Cardenden Cycle 2014, when a group of fans cycled from Celtic Park to John Thomson’s grave for the Celtic FC Foundation.

The Foundation is not the club, it is you, me and thousands like us who believe Celtic is something greater.  It works in four arenas:

Health
Equality
Learning
Poverty

There’s no obligation for Celtic fans to get involved, or to cherish any of the above, but I know many of us get a whole lot more out of Celtic by anchoring to these principles.

There’s a sense that we’ll see a new Celtic on Saturday.  Looking forward to it immensely.

Fed up with the point scoring from all expert on here – fact is at this stage you are either Yes or No

More importantly I’m still worried about the consultant (Ronny D) a few loan players and a Spanish 2nd division striker does not compensate for no CL

Work to do Ronny let’s get started with some positive excitement this week end

  10. What is an economy? Economics. ..? Interest rates? FTSE. ..NASDAQ. … seriously. … what is this all about?

Energy is economy. Energy is created by the people. We’ve been brainwashed that our energy is created to serve the few.

Our energy should be created to serve all of us with each and everyone contributing. …taught from youth. Natural resources and the replenishing of natural resources is the only way forward.

Do multi national corporations agree to this? Do pharmaceutical companies abide by this…? Or do they profit from secrets? Hidden secrets, created by nature and energy?

    Telecoms. .. heating… policing… law… courts….justice. supermarket price wars…. choice…. advertising…. marketing….

All made up. Made up to brainwash us. …. better cars… Houses….. gadgets. Most unnecessary bull.

Why can’t we create jobs for real life issues… poverty…. famine… better housing stock… replenishment of existing housing stock…. renewable energy (no profit… as all of the above)

I’m sick of the system and any opportunity to change should be embraced. There is so much more we could do and achieve if we dissolve the greed.

  11. What a bare faced liar that Angus Robertson of the SNP is. On TV trying to re-write the history books by saying Labour gave us Thatcherism.

The SNP joined with the Tories to vote down a Labour government, the SNP gave us Thatcher.

How can you believe a word these chancers speak?

Is that Jackson article for real?

I’m always reminded of the hearse parked in Kerrydale St. I suppose any gimmick at Celtic’s expense was worth doing for our rags, still would be in fact. I don’t recall one journo at that time speaking out about the effect it would have on Scottish football if Celtic died. (McNee perhaps?)

    ____________________

I don’t know if you mean that, Gerry McNee spoke out about the article?

But, I do know that Gerry McNee was ‘probably’ responsible for the article as he was a columnist in the Sunday Mail at that time, as well as being the STV sports editor enabling him to ‘educate’ the Celtic fans as to ‘how’ to take control of ‘their’ club.

The hearse pic came 3 days after the old ‘bored’ had knocked-back a proposal from, Dempsey and McCann to the tune of £18 million to take control of the club at the AGM in November 1993. McNee was trying to ‘shock’ the Celtic fans into bhoycotting the club and, effectively – sack the ‘bored’!!!

It must also be pointed out here that, all this was going on whilst, the majority of the media were gathered round David Murray’s table – on their prayer-mats.

Ye see, McNee, Hugh Keevins, Paul Cooney and Davie Provan were – driving – a campaign from within the media to – sack the ‘bored’ – so worried were they that, the old ‘bored’ were prepared to take Celtic ‘down’ a division, just to hold onto the family dynasty control.

Fergus used the ‘hurting-Tims’ in the media to win the hearts and minds of the fans then, locked them all back outside again – once he had all their share money.

    Aye….

“Fergus used the ‘hurting-Tims’ in the media to win the hearts and minds of the fans then, locked them all back outside again – once he had all their share money.”

That’s one way to look at things.

    The way I see it:

Fergus did EXACTLY what he said he was going to do. There was nothing hidden, nothing underhand. He had a plan and a timetable to carry it out, he had huge balls to build a 62,000 seat stadium, he could have lost every penny he had earned but saw it through in spite of the odious press people you laud.

I am proud of what we did as a support and Fergus was the right man, in the right place, at the right time.

My share certificate is on the wall, we have a great arena, we are Scottish Champions and our rivals died cheating trying to achieve what Jock Stein did on a shoe-string.

I wish Fergus a long and happy retirement on my money

He seems to fluctuate between Chicago and Miami.

So he’s obviously not too concerned about living in and financially supporting a country that starts illegal wars and invades other countries.
