The Football League in England have woken up to the notion that they do not have a working business model. Solidarity payments from the FA Premier League’s new TV deal will earn Championship clubs £2.3m a season (considerably more than Celtic will receive from TV for winning the SPL), with League One sides earning £324k and League Two sides earning £250k.
Unfortunately, for those hoping to establish a well-balanced and competitive structure, parachute payment to those relegated from the Premier League will earn each club £69m (£23m in year one, £18m in year two and £9m in years three and four).
The Guardian report that today Championship clubs are expected to warn the Premier League that they risk permanently damaging the “integrity of the Football League” by increasing parachute payments to the proposed level. An unusual case of a group asking for some of its members to receive less money.
The Football League doesn’t have a viable business model. Clubs spend unsustainable amounts of money trying to attain the riches of the Premier League, where they can add zeros to both income and expenditure. Most fail and many of them plummet down the divisions. Even those who drop into the Championship with parachute payments (albeit at the old level) find deleveraging too difficult.
The SPL doesn’t have a viable business model either. They should be talking to the Football League and see what benefits could accrue from working together.

I have been ever more negative about the future of Scottish football since the LNS verdict.
You will know that I am not a natural conspiracy theorist and I do not credit the masons with as much power and influence as some do. That said, the FTT majority verdict and the glibly naive conclusions of LNS have discouraged me that there is any official and purposeful regulations working against them.
I understand that old rangers cannot and will not pay back all that they owed. The consequence of that for me is that they are treated the same as Gretna, Airdrieonians and Third Lanark. If you are liquidated you cease to exisst and start again. Simplicuty itself. Plus that has the benefit of discouraging other clubs from playing fast and loose with their futures. There was no need for Dundee, Dunfermline, Hearts, Aberdeen, Motherwell, Killie and Livingston to buy players they could not afford. They cheated well run clubs like Celtic, united, Hibs and St. Johnstone who accepted the sporting consequences of only assembling a squad they could afford.
Unless the Scottish football authorities confirm that they are a new club with no established sporting record, I am finished with the game. I don’t want corruption back at the table.
I genuinely fear that this season may be my last unless this situation changes.

I do not know if Andy is telling lies or not. That is why I ask the question- how do we at Celtic benefit from letting this lie spread? I am not asking them to say anything provocative about Sevco. I am asking them to call out Walker & Keevins so that they do not stand a chance of being believed.
BTW, Andy Walker has one thing in his favour. He is one of the few pundits who meets my minimal challenge in that he always refers to them as a new club with a discontinued timeline. After saying that, mind you, he wants them back in the top flight because he feels we cannot afford sporting integrity.
If things can be shown to be as dire as Andy says, I would accept his line. Let Rangers back in a top division but confirm that they are a new club with no official history of achievmeent. I don’t care if all the Rangers fans, Charles green and Ally go on believing otherwise so long as the official football record of this country states the truth i.e. Sevco will have one trophy to their name at the end of this season making a grand total of one trophy in their overall history.

Walker wouldn’t be on there if he was saying what most Celtic fans think, indeed most football fans in Scotland think about Sevco. I never usually listen to SSB but have caught it for the past few nights – they have tried everything they can from touting Neil Lennon for the Blackburn job to putting forward the notion that they should only agree to being fast tracked IF the transfer ban is lifted.
Walker is entitled to his opinion but it is tainted because he is being paid to be part of their propaganda machine which since their demise has become increasingly blatant and partisan. It is with this in mind that I am a little surprised at you falling into one of their traps.
Celtic are not the establishment club. Our enemies understand that one way to weaken our collective resolve is to attack us in ways that they have done for generations. The Green Brigade have come under severe pressure this season from the forces of the establishment. Why?
Because they wish to provoke a reaction. Remember their Poppy tactic. They wish to have Celt arguing with Celt. Get the Green Brigade annoyed and they will sooner or later hit out at the Directors and provoke a fissure that will be difficult to heal. Pro Green Brigade, anti Board etc when before they started all this we were pretty happy with both!
We have talented people at our club. The manager who the board stood by when people on here wanted him gone, the players who have taken us to the last 16 in the Champions League and even on the board. And the support.
I put a post on the CQN Magazine Facebook page yesterday asking if supporters booed Fergus the day he raised the flag that stopped TIAR. The answers are fascinating but most if not all accept that they were wrong and were played by the MSM – the very people who were playing with you tonight by buying in Walker’s “on message” opinions.
We mustn’t pull defeat from the jaws of victory. We are miles ahead of Sevco and they are in danger of never catching us. In Fergus’ day he never had the likes of CQN, where supporters could discuss these issues – the support probably read hard hitting anti Fergus pieces in the Daily Record all summer and subsequently did Traynor’s booing for him. He must have been delighted, uttering on the phone to Murray, “job done boss!”
I heard Walker. I don’t believe him but I think I know why he said it. We need to repel these people – they have shown they are powerful – look at the recent verdicts they have managed to achieve. Listen to their sense of entitlement on these phone-ins. From what I believe the Celtic directors wanted them exactly where they are and don’t want them back any quicker. And I personally am happy to go along with that view as it has been consistently expressed and it all adds up. I hope we as Celtic fans are able to recognise that we, whether we like it or not, are being dragged into their desperate fight for fast tracking/survival. If we can be undermined our club at the same time then it will be all the sooner they are back where they believe they belong.
So when I read about them trying to shift Joe Ledley to Cardiff I don’t believe them. And when I see helicopters, and hundreds of Polis bullying young boys going to the game, I try to get my head around what they are really trying to achieve. I suggested to Paul today that we gather questions from the blog and put these to the Board and use on the blog and in the magazine. At least we will have these answers “for the record” and there will be no hidden anti-Celtic agendas.
By the way I presume we both agree that Walker has talked himself out of any chance he had of making the CQN team of the 80s! Did you read the new magazine yet? We are very proud of that issue!
Celtic are almost out of sight – let’s not waste it.

tonight its been confirmed that Paris Saint German are the 2013 European Champions having agreed a commercial arrangement with all other clubs left in the competition.
Walker sounds more like a paid employee with every broadcast.

For clarity, I do not want Celtic responding to every kite flown by a journo or pundit commenting on Sevco or the League. That would be daft.
That is why I limited my request to only those statements where pundits and journos are stating that Celtic personnel have “confirmed” to them that this is their secret viewpoint.
The Board do not have to confirm that what the pundit represented as their viewpoint is not actually their viewpoint. They merely need to confirm that the person has had no official or unofficial briefing from any Celtic Board insider. Then it is up to Andy Walker to prove otherwise.
Let me give my clear unequivocal view. I do not believe that Andy is lying. I do believe that there are some on the Celtic Board who have expressed some views about accelerating the return of Sevco. These pundits are just too damn confident in their statements for me to believe otherwise.
Here’s another prediction- I do not expect to hear a peep from Celtic officially on this matter. Which, for me, is sad.

It’s looking more and more likely that Celtic will play the NEW rangers in a competitive game one day. When that day occurs I am done with Celtic. A 125 year opportunity to instill integrity and honesty in the beautiful game by my life long love the beautiful Celtic is done. The symbol of all that is honest and just. When that day happens there is no alternative but to accept that there is nothing beautiful with Celtic anymore. They would have just become another bunch of money grabbers exploiting the faithful for a few quid.
They should sue the SFA now. Finish Sevco off.

I am fully aware that Andy is a favoured Scottish media “Celtic” man but he does not fit the profile of a full “backside in the air” Uncle Tim character who buys all their pash (Hugh Keevins fits that bill)
Andy, as I said, calls them a new club. That earns him some minimum respect in my eyes because that is very far from the accepted narrative for commentating on current football. Speirs will not go that far nor will Pat Nevin. Everything else he may say is suspect but to say that is brave when it would be easier to go with the flow.
I do not want responses from CP re every kite that is flown by a journo. I do want no credence given to leaks or people purporting to having inside information. I do have some cause for concern from the initial statements from Mr. Bankier, for example, re Tartan Army superiority over the Celtic support, to think that we have a few Board members who are, at least naive about their customers or, at worst, actually conspiring against our interests and taking us for granted.
P.S, I did read most of the magazine and loved the articles by Bryce Curdy and BRT & H. Let me know if you have got an 80s article coming from praecepta or one of the other more regular stalwarts. Give me some notice if you do not get one and I will try to step into the breach instead but I’d be very much a 2nd best option there
