Appellate body CEO taking sides

826

So the chief executive of the appellate body awaiting a decision to appeal says, “It’s crucial with league reconstruction being such an important issue for the game that we now draw a line under what’s happened”.

According to the SPL Commission the president of that same appellate body was one of the “directors of Oldco [which]must bear a heavy responsibility” for what happened.

Responsibility, however, is an unnecessary concept for the chief executive of the appellate body, who told the media “It’s not about trying to find scapegoats to take responsibility for what’s happened in the last 12 months.”

Note use of language, those responsible are now “scapegoats”.

Scapegoat, def: A person or group made to bear the blame for others or to suffer in their place.

Let’s not look for scapegoats.  Instead let’s stick to who Lord Nimmo Smith’s Commision blame, “the directors of Oldco”.  Including the appellate body’s president.

The appellate body is unfit as an appellate body and as a football association.  SPL clubs must look for a new playing environment.  Let the SFA and SFL run the grassroots game. They appear to want this anyway and I am sure SPL clubs will flourish when no longer restricted to opposition from Scotland.

    Read again!

I have not given in. I have read the official documents.

Pre-LNS I was full of the same stuff. They will be pronounced officially dead this time surely. But no, yet again, a “learned legal mind of unimpeachable integrity”, has confirmed the duality between club and company, indeed he went as far as to fine the dead company to prove they were still separate from the existing club.

    Given in??? Really??

It does not matter one jot whether we, as Celtic fans, proclaim them dead and refuse to recognise them. I’ve been doing just that since last Valentine’s Day and I will continue to do it because it is great fun.

But it does not become official because you and I say so anymore than it was official when Sevco fans were stating they had 140 unbroken years. We are the Lord Astor’s in this situation. We can be dismissed with the famous scathing riposte of Mandy Rice Davies – “Well, we would say that. Wouldn’t we?”

What matters for me, for the history books and for the views held in the wider world is what the official record shows.

In a few weeks time, all those official bodies are going to record their 55th title win. I will continue to proclaim the opposite but, until the official bodies pay due regard to honesty and the facts, the real world is going to think differently than you and I.

We need to get the official record overturned before we win this one. If you think I have given in on this, you are well wrong. But the battle will not be won by you and I pretending otherwise.

I thought you were still talking of the shares ! Took me a minute to realise what you were saying . Once I did, the perverse logic made me smile 0:-).

Just to say I will be renewing my season ticket. Will not let anything deter me from going to Celtic Park which I have been doing now for nigh on 50 years.

Some people post clever posts saying why they wont – fair enough – I’m no clever with words but feel the need to say that the statement from the club plus Neal’s comments tells me the club understands the situation and how we, the fans feel.

That’s good enough for me, yes I wish more pressure could be brought to bear on the cheats but it won’t stop me supporting my Celtic.

  11. The thing about the Zombies is that Chuck & his backer’s prime interest is in making money. They are not dyed in the wool Huns, the backers are not even football men. They will work to the tightest Budget re numbers of players employed and wages paid. If they pay peanuts they will get monkeys. If we stay solid behind the Celts we can dominate them for years. “Tell every Hun you know, Its going to be ten in a row”.

The fear I have is that one day our board will get into joint sponsorship with CHEAT FC again.

After all that has went on they still refused to rule it out at the AGM.

My love for the club grows as does my interest in what the board do.

Someone said earlier they have nothing to lose by standing up and coming out against cheating,

I will go further and say they may even gain some fans.

Many people outwith Glasgow tar us with the same brush,COME OUT AND TELL THE WORLD WE ARE NOT “O*DFI*M”.

WE ARE CELTIC and will never be connected again with corrupt lying cheats.

I dont know how tied the boards hands are but to me and the rest of the footballing world that would be a massive step.

  13. Eurochamps

“Now, I understand your fears that Sir no surname etc will ride in on their white charger and set all things to right in the great Hun fiefdom, but what evidence have you to assert so?”

You think I am scared of Walter. I would love it if they brought him back. I specifically said, Money Men. Now Walter made a few bob from EBTs but he is not going to turn Sevco around.

It is men like Jim McColl, who were willing to get on board but not willing to risk the opprobrium of a tax scandal or a fraud investigation. Once both those hurdles are negotiated, they will feel free to back Sevco without embarrassment and they will do so from a position of strength whilst we continue to pay our tax debts that they escaped.

The whole Fakeover is based on the premise of finding a way to get David Murray selling Rangers without losing more money than he needed to and leaving Rangers in a position to prosper. The 1 or 2 years left for them to negotiate promotions to the top flight will hurt them but not cripple them and, once they are back, they will get serious financial backing.

Do you really think all of this was done to let them limp along ineffectively as an also ran club? If you entertain any such thoughts, you are going to do more harm to Celtic than my so-called defeatism.

If we are going to win this war, we need to scout our enemy’s strengths and weakness. No bombast that any Celt is worth 10 of them is going to give us any advantage.

We need to tackle the official record and the official record keepers, nothing less will do.

We have been told long enough- “do not interrupt our enemy when they are making mistakes”. Well just look what those mistakes and our inaction has brought us to.

  14. Fergus McC said something along the lines of and I paraphrase, the only way I will come back into football is if it is to change the footballing authorities, or something like that. Maybe someone can find the quote. I think his time may have come. Can we send a batman style cqn badge light into the sky or maybe someone has his number? If not then obviously Celtic have lawyers, it’s time for them to earn their crust or leave the payroll.

it was great to be in the team and in the dressing room with Neil as he was a leader. He worked a lot for me, for Henrik, for everyone, and he was satisfied with that role. I picked my wee Ghirl up from the St Patrick’s Comhaltas traditional Irish music club at St Andrew’s in Coatbridge on Saturday morning. I had just been at Wee BGFC’s football in Gartlea with Gartcairn – they were gubbed 17-2.

I was in a foul mood; still simmering over the LNS parody. Radio shortbread news came on and there was some triumphalist comment about it – I can’t even remember what was said. It must have been the last straw, because I snapped at the weans – “Right, that’s it – I have had it with Scottish football. Stuff them, it’s completely corrupt, and I’m not going back.”

A lot of us feel that way right now. Some would, like me, maybe change their minds if they saw the look on Wee BGFC’s face; it just crumpled – quavering chin, tears welled up in his wee eyes. He looked away out the car window because he didn’t want me to see him crying.

He said quietly “But dad, that would mean no more Celtic”.

No more Celtic. That’s what they want, these cheating masonic ratbags – no more Celtic.

Well, fek them. They can do their worst, but me, Wee BGFC and Princess BGFC will be at Celtic Park next year, and their weans will be their in their turn.

I think the current Board will do everything that they can to fight against this abomination of a situation. But if they don’t, they will be gone in their own good time too.

When the Lawells, Kellys, Grants, Whites, Desmonds are long gone, Celtic will still be there – my family will be there supporting them.

  28. Snake Plissken on

I understand your fears but nowadays what top class players will come to Scotland if they are established?

The days of Scottish teams paying 3M plus in transfer fees are over – yes even them.

These guys you think are waiting in the wings may appear but the EPL has made Scottish football an effective backwater. It’s now a place where young talent will be developed and sold and unknowns will cut their teeth in British football before moving on.

The EPL bubble will continue for a while yet and we’ll suffer from it’s effects but so will Sevco.

I do not see banks allowing them to rack up the kind of debts they did previously and if they do then we know where it all ends. The EBT thing won’t happen again because things have changed. People are wise to it so they’ll have to find another way to cheat – other than the traditional ways they’ve always enjoyed.

I share your concerns but there is one thing which will keep Celtic ahead of them – CL money.

They cannot get it for a minimum of 3 more years and even then with qualifiers nothing is taken for granted.

Celtic’s absolute priority is getting the group stages at least next season. With that cash banked and the possibility of getting last 16 or Europa football the money will continue to come in.

We also have a playing staff who can raise significant funds for reinvestment.

Hooper, Wanyama, Mathews, Lustig, Wilson, Forster, Forrest and even Izzy would all raise Celtic a pretty penny.

The difficulty comes with getting players of equal quality to replace them and that is why our Scouting network has developed as it has.

Our own youth players need to develop and take their chances. Watt, McGeoch, Irvine, Herron, George, Fraser,Chalmers, Atajic and the Twardziks must kick on from here and make real contributions in the next two years to be more than a match for the coming of Sevco.

One thing my Grandparents told me still rings true today regarding Celtic and that mob in blue – You need to keep putting the ball in the net to make sure you win against them.
