Did Dave King honestly say there would be a “forensic investigation” before newco, under his control, would repay Mike Ashley’s £10m loan? This, before the second tranche of the loan, which the club will need to meet payroll, is paid, and while Ashley could acquire an array of property and IP assets by simply not transferring the money when expected.
Unnecessarily provoking the source of short-term finance your club is dependent on is a bizarre tactic.
If it is indeed “the end” for the current newco board, as King promises, said board have a matter of weeks to secure whatever assets they can for those who have previously invested in the club and provided loans.
The crux of King’s comments are reported as:
“Would we pay [Ashley] immediately, I don’t think so no. We would complete a forensic investigation.
“If David Somers’ indication is correct that there has been some malfeasance then it is possible that the club would have a claim then I would attach the money and make a claim.
“If any individuals behaved improperly then it is important that they are held accountable.”
There’s a scene in Pulp Fiction when an unfortunate predator, “Z”, is informed that some African Americans are about to “Get medieval on his ass”. We don’t get to see what this means but stay tuned, between now and the EGM, Mike Ashley might just provide a demonstration of what Tarantino had in mind.
Remember, Ashley is not at Ibrox because he fancies being the next David Murray. He is not interested in the godforsaken world of having to run a football club in Glasgow, he’s happy to allow others to carry this burden.
He may well allow King to ‘win’ the EGM, but the spoils of victory will be very much on his terms. Trying hard not to imagine Paul Murray in a leather mask now.

I’m happy for us to merely disagree on the ‘monkey’ terminology.
However, as far as I’m concerned it’s just about highlighting their primitive behaviour over decades.
We’ve got guys on here, not you, worried about how the banner and our use of the term might be perceived abroad.
Whit?! Who cares.
We’ve sought to achieve the promised land of the ‘moral high ground’ for as long as I can remember.
It’s overrated in my opinion.

Hello again HT – not long back from the Hamilton Water Palace – trying to loose the moobs! Had Wee BGFC and Miss BGFC with me, but we were all put to shame by some of the young boys and girls who were doing their swimming club training – seriously fit and fast weans – great to see.
Fair enough comments – as you appreciate, my point wasn’t really about what anyone else thought, it was just my own view on how I feel about it.
Re: moral high ground – hard enough trying to get up there yourself, withought trying to drag the whole Celtic support up with you! Hard enough trying to bring up your own children with decent values.
There are bampots in every group, so unrealistic to expect the Celtic family to be universally squeaky clean – there lies the road to disappointment. I do, however, like to maintain a distance in terms of behaviour – and percerception and reputation – between the Celtic support in general, and that of the horde that follows Sevco. I guess we would have to have a sustained plummet in behaviour for that gap to close anytime soon.
Paradoxically (or perhaps not) the perception gap about our two groups of supporters is much wider in Europe than it is at home.
Anyway, onwards to a tougher game Dundee on Saturday. Me and Wee BGFC now have a nice wee pile of four sets of tickets under the telly – Dundee, Thistle, St J, then FC Internazionale – super :-)

There’s nothing that says the club receiving the loanee has to pay any of their wages. It may suit the loaning club for the player to get appropriate match experience so they are happy to pay the wages.
I’d put reasonable stake on New Utd paying their full salary.
