BBC’S NEWSBEAT’S “RANGERS STARTED AGAIN AFTER LIQUIDATION” REPORT IS AMENDED

THE BBC’s NEWSBEAT Sports Reporter Simon Mundie stepped into a storm this morning after posting his preview on tomorrow’s Glasgow Derby on the BBC site.

This is an extract from Simon’s article as it originally appeared:

————————————————–

It is the biggest match in Scotland, and one of the most passionate in world football.

This Saturday will see the return of the Old Firm derby in the Scottish Premiership for the first time in four years.

Celtic and Rangers have not played each other in Scotland’s top flight since Rangers were liquidated in 2012.

They started again in the third division and have since risen back through the divisions.

The two Glasgow giants last met in April when Rangers won on penalties in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.

However this has subsequently been amended and now reads as follows:

—————————————————-

It is the biggest match in Scotland, and one of the most passionate in world football.

This Saturday will see the return of the Old Firm derby in the Scottish Premiership for the first time in four years.

Celtic and Rangers have not played each other in Scotland’s top flight since 2012.

Back then, Rangers were placed in the third division but are now back in the Premier League.

The two Glasgow giants last met in April when Rangers won on penalties in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.

It seems that the National broadcaster do not feel ‘safe’ or ‘confident’ in saying that “Rangers were liquidated in 2012” or that “they started again in the third division”  to rise “back” through the divisions.

Obviously we’d point out that as a new club they didn’t rise ‘back’ but you have to credit Mundie for telling it almost exactly as it was for the young Newsbeat readers.

His feature wasn’t as well received in some quarters. After the Mundie’s article was referenced on one Ibrox supporters’ forum the replies were certainly more hostile. Here’s a flavour…

Is news beat not their brand of news for youthful lefties? They’ve probably described the north Korean nuclear arms test this morning as a friendly call to arms.

I really hate the BBC. They really can’t help them selves with lies and propaganda. I think it’s time to ban the outfit from Ibrox permanently. I’m going to send them a strongly worded email when I get home from work tonight.

The concerning thing is that the article was written by a Simon Mundie who is the Sports Correspondent for Newsbeat. A London based Journalist who you would expect to have no axe to grind with Rangers.  We would expect this nonsense if it had been written for them by member of Pacific Quay CSC.

Looks like Simon Mundie is a liar.

Newsbeat woldn’t have a clue about this stuff. Obviously contacted Pacific Quay CSC for info before this weekend’s game. It’s the scum at BBC Scotland that are the problem.

The cancer spreads throughout the BBC, when the commonwealth games were in Glasgow BBC pricks from all over the UK were in Attendance, you can be sure the Pacific Quay CFC spread the hate. I know several fro BBC Wales News and Sports dept and they think we should have been kick out of football. I don’t pay my licence.

They can’t possibly believe we are only 4 years old……otherwise they’d try to molest us

how many times have we complained and how many times have they said they were wrong and changed articles, but yet it still happens

Probably just mis-informed. Which makes him a clown.

The only people that can stop this are inside Ibrox. Unfortunately they don’t seem concerned. In the meantime we have to suffer day in and day out.

The guys fixed it after a few folk tweeted him.Think it was an honest mistake.

How many teams have gone down the newco route? Leeds possibly? Middlesbrough? I NEVER hear these teams being referred to the way we are. It’s genuinely sinister that national, supposedly impartial broadcasters can peddle this sh1te. Didn’t Fiorentina have to change names for a wee while after they had some business problems and were demoted? I didn’t hear any “newco” stuff about them when we were playing them.
It just proves the level of obsession that they have for us. If someone was this obsessed about me, I’d be phoning the rozzers and keep a bat beside my bed at night. Weirdos.

Papist Quay have a big hand in this.

Worse still , Simon is simply regurgitating the lies that are constantly printed about the club not realising it’s nonsense .
Tell a lie often enough and it’s eventually accepted as fact

That’s why it’s worth answering the lies, even it’s just with a straightforward contradiction. Give the yahoos free rein to spread their propaganda and some folk accept it as the truth.

On BBC Scotland just there with Stephen Jardine chairing a discussion on tomorrow’s Old Firm game – a ‘St Mirren’ fan who pointedly and repeatedly referred to the “Glasgow Derby” and a ‘Kilmarnock’ fan who praised Celtic fans for raising money for charity (Palestine?) and trotted out the “new entity” line.
In fairness, Jardine chaired the discussion like an impartial journalist, a rare thing at Pacific Quay.

I’m not seeing any reference to liquidation or new club – has it been edited?
