Being taken for a brainless clown

629

I like Alex Ferguson.  He likes his football and cannot hide the respect in which he holds Jock Stein and the great Celtic team of the 60s and 70s.  Like you and I, Alex is immersed in the history of the game here, a history he contributed significantly to at Aberdeen.

So, when questioned by the Daily Record on the potential shuttering of Hampden, his overwhelming reaction was for the loss of history:

“… leaving your history behind you

“You’re throwing away all that fantastic history

“history you are throwing away

“That’s a fantastic history

“history has been formed

“The history of Hampden is riddled with fantastic games

“We need history to tell us where we’re going”

No football fans are more immersed in history than Celtic fans, it sustained us through many a dark day, so these words will resonate with you.  But fear not, there is a solution!

They can raze Hamden to the ground and have another venue BUY THE HISTORY!  Why didn’t this occur to such a great mind?  Buying history is a fairly straightforward issue in Scotland.  I now own the Crimean War, which I purchased from a guy in Edinburgh last week.

The same vendor was selling the Renaissance, which I would love to own, as I would really like to have painted the Sistine Chapel in the 16th century, but he was wanting £1000 for that, and an internal voice told me I was being taken for a brainless clown.

    Dammit,missed the quiz!

I’ve just read it back,so maybe just as well I missed it. Some fiendish questions.

Will try to catch the next one though.

  5. In other news tonight, this warmed the cockles of my heart. Terrific player on his day.

“I have been to so many clubs and this is where I’ve been at my happiest. Leaving here would be out the question. I want to be here for 10-in-a-row.”

Aint it great to have high IQ intelligent weans.

I blame the parents and the Catholic schools.

  7. Re Mahes question, If the King already has a Boy, then there are only 2 possibilities, 2 Boys or Boy & a Girl.

    That is 50/50 to me.

The 66.66 only applies if it’s part of the equation whether the Boy or Girl came first. Then there would be 3 possibilities.

Mahe’s question simply asked what were the chances of second child being a girl.

  10. Sorry Mahe asked what were chances of OTHER child being a girl, I think he should have said what were the chances of the King’s SECOND child being a girl.

Ha, cheers G! Indeed. Not sure how she got her brains though. Maybe the mother? :-)

Looks like Dundee could be her first choice, as meant to be a fine University for medicine, so will be on the lookout for some of our Dundee CQNers for assistance, if that is the final decision.

  14. Big Wavy Whilst SS has not reached the level of performance of last season he remains a valued member of BRs squad. And despite the utmost provocation SS has been an exemplary professional from the day he arrived at Celtic. Hh

Agreed fella. I think we’re lucky to have him and should enjoy every minute of it….

  16. Apologies to anyone caught up in the traffic jam at approx 6.30 tonight on Great Western Road as I shepherded a swan back in the direction of Knightswood Pond.

Esp the Sikh bus driver who blocked everyone westbound.

Didn’t feel daft at all shouting ” c’mon mate, you can do it!” waving my arms like Duncan Goodhew.

  17. FAIRHILL BHOY, you seem a nice guy when sober, just dont post when under the influence.hh.

I will pass on the message will see Tosh (Mr. S) and Mrs. S tomorrow. I take the Sacrament to Mrs. S on Sunday. They speak highly of Mick.

I believe Tosh sometimes reads the blog as does one of the Bhoys.

    Keep the Faith!

    Hail Hail!

I’m glad Brendan mentioned the lack of break time, the last close Season.

Big Eck, I reckon will not select any Celts for the ludicrous friendlies, he might be daft (I certainly don’t think he is that) but he isn’t stupid.

Celtic are doing a subtle change of the game in Scotland from what I can see.

Celtic have the Good of the game in Mind.

    Perhaps I am wrong.

Was on your coattails tonight. Will be trying to pip you next week. Good challenge tonight.

  24. Reading back due to being busy with spiritual things, I noticed most of the talk about Donegal was for the West of that great county. As one whose people are from Inishowen, well, only for the last 300 plus years, could I just say if you have never tried travelling the Inishowen 100 you have missed out on some beautiful places. If you ever get the chance to try it. You will really enjoy the scenery, great beaches, rolling hills, beautiful glens, plenty of great pubs and fine fish.

I am going to beat everyone next week, I am dusting down the old encyclopaedias, the whole 32 volumes.

Whits that I hear you say about computers and Google …. Nah I’m old school

  26. If the king already has a boy, it matters not how it is phrased, the choice of the other or the second child, it’s either a boy or a girl, so it 1/1, evens, 50/50, it can’t be anything else, no matter how it’s spun.

  27. BMCUWP: Will you pass on my email addy to NavanBhoy, please?

NavanBhoy: I lived in Phoenix, Arizona in ‘84/85.

Sedona, the Painted Desert, the Grand Canyon & Flagstaff all worth seeing.

The Irish Cultural Centre and Heard (Native American) Museum in Phoenix well worth a visit also. I have a connection with the ICC and I think I was the first Irish person to teach Irish in Phoenix.

I know the owner of the bar which hosts the Phoenix CSC – he’s a native of Belfast and is a season ticket holder.
