Best to Ledley, Goals Griffiths and Perpetual Movement Stefan

567

I read some discourse heading in the direction of Joe Ledley last night, which I can’t quite figure.  Joe had initially seemed keen to sign the contract which had been in his hands for several months.  Celtic wanted to get the deal done but it became clear this week that it wasn’t going to happen, and that Joe would leave under freedom of contract in the summer, if not this week.

This is the player’s absolute right.  He committed fully to the cause until full time on Wednesday, and when Celtic decided to accept a bid reportedly close to £1m, rather than let him run down his contract – most probably from the stand, he agreed to join Crystal Palace, who were almost certainly not top of his desired destinations.  Although he clearly pushed Palace all the way on the contract.

Joe could have just as easily free-wheeled for four months while continuing to collect his wages and shopping around for a new club, which would have suited him far more than Celtic.

Best wishes to Joe, I’m sure he’ll keep Palace up this season.

A formal welcome to Celtic to Leigh Griffiths.  His interview on Celtic TV last night betrayed an irresistible focus.  ‘What will you bring to Celtic?’  ‘Goals’.  That’s what it’s all about Leigh, score goals, lots of them.  Then score some more.

I was pleased Stefan Johansen got some game-time on Wednesday after 45 minutes for the youths on Tuesday; really hope we see him tomorrow.  Did you notice his movement on Wednesday?  Every time he passed the ball he sprinted into space.  Hope he gets a start tomorrow but most of all, let’s break a record.

Not been on for a few hours as I’ve spent all afternoon trying to start a blog for myself. As I managed to delete the 1400 words I wrote I’ve abandoned the project. So you are stuck with me for my rubbish

    Just learned the staggering news

from Tynecastle. Genuinely cannot get my head quite round it. The depressing thought it is the close circuit cameras won’t have captured any worthwhile footage and that in a few days time it’ll have turned out to have been Neil’s fault.

What surprises me is folk on CQN saying they were shocked at how Lennie was treated. All I can say is you must lead a sheltered life in this bitter wee country. There are many places in Scotland that it is inadvisable for Catholics to visit alone Lennie used to I dont know if its still the same have a big minder who often went around with him. Some say fans of other teams hate the Rangers more than they do us well I dont think that is true they see us as one side of the same coin. Now Im not saying all football fans but ever club has a minority of headbangers and today the Stewards and the police should have stepped in the fact that appears that they didnt tells you a lot. H.H.

Enough is enough……..we will not tolerate any more of this abuse aimed at our manager, simply because of his Nationality and Religion……

The following joint statement, or words to this effect, is now the duty of our Board and CSA

Celtic Football Club is appalled and disgusted as a result of this latest atrocious abuse of our manager for reasons which are obvious to any sensible, non- bigoted person in Scotland.

Once the club of the perpetrators of this outrage is identified, the following action will be taken by Celtic Football in an attempt to minimise the possibility of a future recurrence in respect our current, and any future, Celtic manager.

For the remainder of this season….

    1) Celtic Football Club will refuse entry to any supporters of the Club in question to any match at Celtic Park for the remainder of this season.

    2) Celtic Football Club will recommend to all Celtic supporters that they consider whether or not they should attend matches at the stadium of the Club in question for the remainder of this season.

    3) The Celtic Football Club Board will not attend any away matches at any stadium, including Hampden Park, for the remainder of this season, on personal safety / security grounds.

    4) In consideration of his personal safety and security, the Celtic Football Club Board has instructed the manager of Celtic Football Club not to attend any away stadia for the remainder of this season. We will honour our remaining fixtures, and the team will be managed by our Assistant Manager at away games.

As a Club, we have ignored this behaviour for far too long, and our patience is exhausted. There has been a concerted attack on our Club for decades now, and it is our responsibilty to finally take action to protect our staff and reputation.”

No more……..we are now compelled to take action to ensure the actions of others does not destroy the fabric of our great Club……we are now at RESISTANCE LEVEL 2…..

Utterly disgusted to here of our managers treatment today. What response will come from our club?

Shameful that Neil Lennon is treated this way never mind the mealy mouthed reporting of of it by useless bastard no marks in our scottish media.

Good point – so we can expect a total condemnation from Alex tomorrow and a holyrood summit called immediately – no thought not

  7. I’m Irish and hold no strong opinion on Scottish independence. For the life of me though, I can’t understand people linking these events to Scottish Independence. These things are already happening while Scotland is in the UK ! It’s a case of you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

  8. Disgusted to hear of today’s events. Someone needs to ask the victim-blaming MSM – should NL stay at home and never show his face in public? Is no manager allowed to go to another game now? The only answers they can give will reveal their racism and bigotry.

It has not been dealt with in the past 100 years under all shades of Government. Will it be in an Independent Scotland?

In fact I believe participating and contributing is a more productive model on the road to parity. The alternative is to always be on the outside looking in.

My point is initially he was very callous with his remark re Neil, anyone listening would have thought Neil had the Jacket off, as this goes with the MSM reputation of Neil, and only when prompted did he fully put his card on the table.

If anyone is thinking about voting YES, look at todays latest “He deserves it” episode. SCOTLANDS SHAME

I am absolutely disgusted at what happened at Tynecastle regarding our manager today and hope for further clarification and hope for a hard hitting Celtic statement

However what the hell has this got to do with a YES vote, this sadly is a reflection of our Scotland today, I will be voting for a better Scotland in the future .

To all those castigating Speirs. An extract from the journalist in 2011:

“It is true that Lennon is no angel — he grew up in Lurgan and has always had to know how to look after himself. But the fact is that Lennon embodies the very thing that some residual bigots in Scottish society and Scottish football cannot stand: a visible, vocal and successful Irish Catholic who doesn’t shirk from anything. This is too much for some to bear.”

To balance that he did suggest that NFL was “fighting” with his assailant, John Wilson at Tynecastle 2011

  27. There’s a darkness to Scotland’s attitudes to Irish Catholicism. Always has been. Has lasted longer here than in England and Wales.

I’m afraid anti-Catholicism is a defining feature of Scotland. Scottish Nationalism – which is already shockingly anti-English – will give it succour, sadly.
