Best to Ledley, Goals Griffiths and Perpetual Movement Stefan

567

I read some discourse heading in the direction of Joe Ledley last night, which I can’t quite figure.  Joe had initially seemed keen to sign the contract which had been in his hands for several months.  Celtic wanted to get the deal done but it became clear this week that it wasn’t going to happen, and that Joe would leave under freedom of contract in the summer, if not this week.

This is the player’s absolute right.  He committed fully to the cause until full time on Wednesday, and when Celtic decided to accept a bid reportedly close to £1m, rather than let him run down his contract – most probably from the stand, he agreed to join Crystal Palace, who were almost certainly not top of his desired destinations.  Although he clearly pushed Palace all the way on the contract.

Joe could have just as easily free-wheeled for four months while continuing to collect his wages and shopping around for a new club, which would have suited him far more than Celtic.

Best wishes to Joe, I’m sure he’ll keep Palace up this season.

A formal welcome to Celtic to Leigh Griffiths.  His interview on Celtic TV last night betrayed an irresistible focus.  ‘What will you bring to Celtic?’  ‘Goals’.  That’s what it’s all about Leigh, score goals, lots of them.  Then score some more.

I was pleased Stefan Johansen got some game-time on Wednesday after 45 minutes for the youths on Tuesday; really hope we see him tomorrow.  Did you notice his movement on Wednesday?  Every time he passed the ball he sprinted into space.  Hope he gets a start tomorrow but most of all, let’s break a record.

  1. After the recent MSM frenzy following seats being damaged at Fir Park it should be very difficult for them not to lead on the alleged Lenny attack at Tynecastle.

However, you can be sure they’ll find a way to ignore it or move to the inside pages with as little comment as possible.

  2. Clyde1 so far avoiding the disgusting treatment of our manager. If the club dont come out and DEMAND retribution, then I wouldnt blame Neil if he turned his back on this backwater.

The smsm are culpable for the treatment NFL receives in

this Country, they have vilified him in a attempt to keep their

customers happy……..their dying, and will soon join their

    former favourite team.

  6. Speirs on about why NL attracts this behavior, is it because he was player etc etc

Speirs fudging the issue like the rest of them

NFL attracts this kind of behavior! The words of Spiers ….the thinking mans Fud!

Just listened to that. Mealy-mouthed and weak comment rather than strong statement of condemnation. Pathetic.

  9. I need to wait for more of this story, Whois fans it was, and what happened, knee jerk reactions won’t help us, let the dust settle, and then we separate the men from the boys, things will be done, as soon as we get the right story, best way to go right now, make decisions next week, make no mistake right now my blood is boiling, but we have to keep our powder dry for the moment.

  10. Absolutely unbelievable by spiers. He Suggests its maybe because either he was part of a successfull mon team, or even because he was arrogant on the field…or even because he was a good player…I predict an outbreak in ostrich syndrome in the smsm.

  11. Spiers “I don’t know about the incident, BUT, sometimes Neil Lennon brings it on himself” ??

Like when he threw himself at an innocent Hearts fan at Tynecastle.

Why not come out and admit “it’s because he was brought up a Northern Irish Catholic and played for & manages Celtic

There is NO fault attached to Graeme Spiers or the words he has spoken.

    He is completely correct.

In this country Neil Lennon IS the target of totally unjustified abuse.

Ergo, he is the target of the bigots who NATURALLY find his very existence offensive.

GS is in NO WAY justifying that abuse.

NFL would have been in the main stand, the sheepies had

3 of the 4, so the chances are!!

  14. Police Scotland and Hearts have just issued a joint statement:

“Reports have just reached us that Neil Lennon, the manager of Celtic FC, was pelted with missiles and spat upon as he sat in the main stand at Tynecastle today during the match between Aberdeen and St Johnstone.

However, we are unable to comment as during the alleged incident all police officers and stewards were on a tea-break and we have recieved no complaints from others present.

We hope that this will be the end of the matter.”

He is disingenuous about the reason NFL is subjected to the abuse.

He knows the reason but is too cowardly to say what it is.

    He’s weak.

  18. NatKnow - Supporting Wee Oscar on

Graham Spiers isn’t justifying it – but he sure ain’t condemning it with the force he should be. Perhaps it caught him off guard and he doesn’t want to say too much before he knows more.

I’m not sure it was actually sectarianism that led to the Lenny incident today. Aberdeen have a hard core of scummy fans, no doubt, but they hate the huns every bit as much, if not more. If that had been McCoist today, I suspect something similar would have occured.

    Still an utter disgrace though
