Best to Ledley, Goals Griffiths and Perpetual Movement Stefan

567

I read some discourse heading in the direction of Joe Ledley last night, which I can’t quite figure.  Joe had initially seemed keen to sign the contract which had been in his hands for several months.  Celtic wanted to get the deal done but it became clear this week that it wasn’t going to happen, and that Joe would leave under freedom of contract in the summer, if not this week.

This is the player’s absolute right.  He committed fully to the cause until full time on Wednesday, and when Celtic decided to accept a bid reportedly close to £1m, rather than let him run down his contract – most probably from the stand, he agreed to join Crystal Palace, who were almost certainly not top of his desired destinations.  Although he clearly pushed Palace all the way on the contract.

Joe could have just as easily free-wheeled for four months while continuing to collect his wages and shopping around for a new club, which would have suited him far more than Celtic.

Best wishes to Joe, I’m sure he’ll keep Palace up this season.

A formal welcome to Celtic to Leigh Griffiths.  His interview on Celtic TV last night betrayed an irresistible focus.  ‘What will you bring to Celtic?’  ‘Goals’.  That’s what it’s all about Leigh, score goals, lots of them.  Then score some more.

I was pleased Stefan Johansen got some game-time on Wednesday after 45 minutes for the youths on Tuesday; really hope we see him tomorrow.  Did you notice his movement on Wednesday?  Every time he passed the ball he sprinted into space.  Hope he gets a start tomorrow but most of all, let’s break a record.

  1. so much for Aberdeen fans “Standing Free”.

absolutely disgusting that our manager has to continually put up with this. even more so that the media more often than not blames the victim for suffering the abuse. because sitting quietly watching a football game is “bringing it upon himself”.

what the eff is wrong with some people?

  2. Police and stewards..

From what I’ve witnessed this year they’re only interested in banners and rebel songs, real violence and triumphalist bigotry receives no attention.

  3. I’m a bit confused (easy done) but can someone explain to me how David Cameron is currently protecting Neil Lennon or what new powers independence will give Alex Salmond to allow him to start his campaign against us?

Further, who on earth thinks Salmond will have any power in an independent Scotland?

FWIW I think an independent Scotland will have much greater international scrutiny, especially in the early years, which will make it much easier to fight any anti-catholic initiatives. The vast majority of anti-irish and anti-catholic abuse comes from those who will lose the core of their identity if there is no union jack to celebrate. The union gives them strength, let’s disarm them.

  4. I think I do Ernie. I’ve lived on Sandy Row and witnessed at first hand their version of Britishness celebrated with their Scottish Brethern. Anyway, We disagree and move on, nothing personal mate. I’m going to take prestopans advice and head to the pub ! Good night folks.

No matter the team No matter the manager he/she should be welcomed at any ground in the Country and treated as a guest of the host club. The welcome mat should be out, football is our National game and once again it has been dragged into the gutter by hooligans and a club that is not stewarded or policed properly this should be taken up by Celtic with the football authorities.H.H.

  6. In Oct 2007 I petitioned the Scottish Parliament asking them to investigate the causes for the disporoportionate number of RCs in Scottish prisons (2 times more than Protestant or no religion).

The Public Petitions Committee were obviously embarrassed with it and kicked it around for over three years without ever mentioning the word Ireland or Irish before they eventually asked an academic to do a report on it.

Dr Susan Wiltshire reported that there may be a factor in the numbers due to residual anti-Irish bias and this may exist in the justice system.

The PPC didnt know whether to publish this or not but did and immediately passed the petition to the Equal Opportunities Committee (don’t aske me why) who in a meeting that lasted only a matter of minutes closed the petition just short of its 4th anniversary!

During the time the PPC had the petition one MSP contacted me privately and more or less told me the reason for the numbers was the Irish RCs who came hered during the Famine had never got out of the ghettos on the West Coast.

Scotland can’t deal with this matter historically or now. Pretend it’s not there.

Sevco fans, Aberdeen fans, fans in grounds all around Scotland and countless people with little or no interest in football at all all , united in a media fuelled hatred of Neil Lennon and what he stands for. What many of US stand for.

When you switch on your T.V. and see ethnic warfare and hatred fuelled atrocities in supposedly less enlightened countries than ours, you are glimpsing into the same dark soul which festers in Scotland.

Less extreme, superficially more civilised but with much in common

I fear for next Saturday in Glasgow. There will be guys looking for revenge for todays actions at Swinecastle. The Sheep seem to be building bad rivalry with us. Their behaviour since the hun died has changed. Seems they want a hatred with us.

Big Nan- coincidentally I was at Glasgow Sheriff court last week with a relative who is one of those arrested for being kettled in the Gallowgate- and it was really obvious that most of those accused had what could easily be described as names associated with Irish descent, I thought at the time that I should see if there are any figures around arrests by religion in this intolerant wee country

  14. Lot’s of outrage about what happened to NFL today, and

rightly so……what should his employer do?

Delaneys Dunkey. I am sure the majority of Aberdeen fans will be disgusted with the treatment of Neil Lennon today we cant tar there whole fan base just because of a few hooligans. The main focus should be on Hearts lack of security and not for the first time.H.H.

Why do the people of Glasgow not have a party on March 17th? They do have a party everywhere else in the world. Not here though. Funny that eh?

Imagine Jose going to watch a match in Newcastle and he was spat on and hit with coins. It would be the first item on the national news. Not up here though. Funny that eh?

This country has to take a massive look at itself and decide whether it wants to continue on it’s existing dead end path where Orange walks are allowed in modern Scotland for goodness sake and faith based schools are blamed for our malaise.

I accidentally put SSB today at 2ish. £20k was up for grabs for God knows what. The question was put to a panel member what he would spend £20,000 on. He said Balde in the summer window. This on a busy commercial radio station. Unbelievable. Then the Orcs smash up a Brechin supporters bus. I fear for us living here. Since our manager was assaulted at Tynecastle it’s been open season on Celtic. Complete unabashed racism and sectarianism which should be addressed and dealt with on a national level by our judiciary. So why not? Eh? And people want independence. Don’t make me laugh. HH.

But we don’t have to out up with it any longer……….we allowed the last Tynecastle incident to pass, and several before that……..we need to act now, if only to highlight the situation across the World………hit them hard, with the maximum publicity that will bring, TO SHAME SCOTLAND’S SHAME to the core……suggested mandatory actions in my previous post this evening…….WE CANNOT LET THIS PASS…….WHEN IS IT GOING TO STOP, WITHOUT OUR INTERVENTION…..
