Best to Ledley, Goals Griffiths and Perpetual Movement Stefan

567

I read some discourse heading in the direction of Joe Ledley last night, which I can’t quite figure.  Joe had initially seemed keen to sign the contract which had been in his hands for several months.  Celtic wanted to get the deal done but it became clear this week that it wasn’t going to happen, and that Joe would leave under freedom of contract in the summer, if not this week.

This is the player’s absolute right.  He committed fully to the cause until full time on Wednesday, and when Celtic decided to accept a bid reportedly close to £1m, rather than let him run down his contract – most probably from the stand, he agreed to join Crystal Palace, who were almost certainly not top of his desired destinations.  Although he clearly pushed Palace all the way on the contract.

Joe could have just as easily free-wheeled for four months while continuing to collect his wages and shopping around for a new club, which would have suited him far more than Celtic.

Best wishes to Joe, I’m sure he’ll keep Palace up this season.

A formal welcome to Celtic to Leigh Griffiths.  His interview on Celtic TV last night betrayed an irresistible focus.  ‘What will you bring to Celtic?’  ‘Goals’.  That’s what it’s all about Leigh, score goals, lots of them.  Then score some more.

I was pleased Stefan Johansen got some game-time on Wednesday after 45 minutes for the youths on Tuesday; really hope we see him tomorrow.  Did you notice his movement on Wednesday?  Every time he passed the ball he sprinted into space.  Hope he gets a start tomorrow but most of all, let’s break a record.

  1. First words out of GS mouth ” I don’t know about the incident but Neil Lennon sometimes brings it on himself”

Why would NFL do this? Publicity or being masochistic? GS please advise

  2. They were waiting for NL before he arrived here the Lambeg drums were heard beating in NI by their bigot brothers in Scotland and he was in for it the minute he signed for Celts…..Fact

MoN knew what the game was about in relation to NL when he played at Ibrox and about the only time I will give Hugh Keevins credit is because he called it for what it was

  3. Thought this sectarian problem was a West of Scotland one.

Edinburgh with Aberdeen and St. Johnstone fans??

Looking got another summit from Salmond. Ohhh forgot he is a Hertz man.

  4. I have seen at least 4 hun managers at CP watching games, never been any issues, let’s hammer this Sheep mob next week

  5. From TSFM site….

In other off field news, twitter reporting the Brechin supporters bus was attacked after the game

To summarise and paraphrase GS…NL should tug his forelock and just be grateful ……ffs!

Nawwwwwww, your picking this up wrong, lol, Speirs is saying he is what it says on the tin, and don’t fck. With him, that’s the way I read it.?

  7. Ghuys,

I believe the club’s lawyers may wish to look at Speir’s comments, as they are testing the border of what is fair comment on National Telly

Did anyone from the Beeb point out he was being a twat or provide a mitigating opinion?

Ps Speirs has the exact same voice as the lady who runs the Tories in Scotland , uncanny.

Still, perhaps Speirs may need some time away from Celtic Park to reflect on his head of the 6th form type drivel.

Check out Phils twitter feed for a twitter photo allegedly showing Neil sitting in his seat ,

under the heading “this is asking for trouble”.

  10. Massive back track from Speirs on Shorty follow a flood of texts. He is so flustered and knows he has made a massive mistake that he even swears.

Totally lost his cool a he knows he is bang in bother.

Just to reiterate…… Speirs said Neil Lennon attracts this kind of behaviour……ATTRACTS .

My Ghod the hatred of us is actually more acute than I thought.

    What a disgusting sick country

  11. Kilbowie Kelt will vote YES on

    Something POSITIVE happened today.

The fanatical hatred of NL by a supposedly NEUTRAL Scottish football crowd has shown the true extent of bigotry in our country.

Of course,… he brought it on himself.

  12. Neil lennons lawyers said he was spat on, coins tossed at him, and verbal abuse?

When does this end, is this the Aberdeen mob getting on there high horses cause they are second best, I’m surprised.

  13. I expect Celtic FC to make a statement on this issue tonight. Neil Lennon works for Celtic FC and was at Tynecastle doing part of his job. They should also be contacting the police and the SFA.

  14. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

Speirs is right NFL does attract hatred from bigots, simply because of what he is and is proud to display it.

Think some are getting it entirely wrong in their interpretation of Speirs remarks.

We have plenty of enemies in the MSM, he ain’t one of them.

  17. td67.

Maybe you’re right. I just got the impression he was implying NFL had the audacity to look you in the eyes were previously we should be looking at the floor!

Genuinely not looking for a fight Tony, but your defence

of GS is puzzling, you were very quick to condemn the

GB after the Fir park malaise…….yet your adopting a wait

and see stance when our manager is spat on and a weak

jurno says NFL should not be so uppity

  19. Valentines day

Listen mate the GB are another story, and nothing to do with this one either, or like Neil Lennon am I drawing attention to myself because I am against the GB, spit it out man.?

  20. Stairheedrammy on

Why should we be surprised at the abuse directed an NL just for attending a football match- or the excuses broadcast by such as Speirs- there is a culture of anti Irish Catholic sentiment thats accepted as the norm in this country- thats why Speirs cant see anything wrong with it. With the resources FOCUS have I’m sure there will be dawn raids taking place soon- probably on GB members- though the Edinburgh juries tend to agree with attacks on him

    The victory today

Possibly one of the worst performances ever at Ibrox, even allowing for the fact that we managed to hold on for a win, the second half was a fxcking disgrace.

Black. 1/10 offered nothing, stealing a wage and must be dropped.

McCulloch. 1/10, he must have to take a five minute break when he gets injured wrestling his two year old!

    Moshni 1/10 wannabe nobody

Bell 3/10, nothing to do all game(obviously no chance with goal) but with two minutes to go, he takes a free kick and punts it into Enclourse!

Law 1/10, he gets the one point for being so good at hiding.

Faure 1/10, slept with a footballer

Daly 1/10, my 5’1″ 87 year old granny can jump higher than him.

Templeton, Aird, Shiels tried hard 5/10 each

Wallace 8/10, felt sorry for him.

    Sick

Is that not Billy Brown sitting just along from Neil ?

Was he abused, or spat at or hit with coins ?

    Sitting here fuming.

I lived and worked in Aberdeen some 15 years ago, my Ghirls going to St Joseph’s primary school with Derek Whyte and Jim Leightons kids, they all separated when going to high school, cause there wasn’t a Roman Catholic one.

In fairness, never came across any level of Bigotry towards our religion in Aberdeen though

CFC need to protect our manager …official statement …complaint to the SFA ..and that bar steward Speirs officially condemned and banned from CP
