Best to Ledley, Goals Griffiths and Perpetual Movement Stefan

567

I read some discourse heading in the direction of Joe Ledley last night, which I can’t quite figure.  Joe had initially seemed keen to sign the contract which had been in his hands for several months.  Celtic wanted to get the deal done but it became clear this week that it wasn’t going to happen, and that Joe would leave under freedom of contract in the summer, if not this week.

This is the player’s absolute right.  He committed fully to the cause until full time on Wednesday, and when Celtic decided to accept a bid reportedly close to £1m, rather than let him run down his contract – most probably from the stand, he agreed to join Crystal Palace, who were almost certainly not top of his desired destinations.  Although he clearly pushed Palace all the way on the contract.

Joe could have just as easily free-wheeled for four months while continuing to collect his wages and shopping around for a new club, which would have suited him far more than Celtic.

Best wishes to Joe, I’m sure he’ll keep Palace up this season.

A formal welcome to Celtic to Leigh Griffiths.  His interview on Celtic TV last night betrayed an irresistible focus.  ‘What will you bring to Celtic?’  ‘Goals’.  That’s what it’s all about Leigh, score goals, lots of them.  Then score some more.

I was pleased Stefan Johansen got some game-time on Wednesday after 45 minutes for the youths on Tuesday; really hope we see him tomorrow.  Did you notice his movement on Wednesday?  Every time he passed the ball he sprinted into space.  Hope he gets a start tomorrow but most of all, let’s break a record.

Lets not turn on each other or knee jerk let’s see what the club do about it before we start demanding anything. It’s not right and all of us should know by now that this country is about 100 yrs out of date, The hardest part for me tbh is they have had to except Asians, blacks, eastern Europeans, Name it and after all that they still hate us the most, Mental. Please don’t read my post as being racist, I’m merely pointing out the changes to the make up of Scotland through the years.

We support each other and Neil and let’s see how it plays out.

Reflecting on what happened today, I suppose the media’s reaction is a side-issue ?

What we should focus on is the actual incident and our Manager.

  3. Charles Kickham – never seen that before. Loved it. Great stuff.

We have a lot to be thankful to Neil for.

It’s a cop out BCW, he starts with the fact that Neil is no angel, seed planted, the problem with Graham is he would like to tackle the situation but he does not know that he has been programmed to justify in the most subtle of ways..

The opening statement makes it clear, Neil is no angel, Lurgan born, knows how to look after himself( how very dare he) etc etc..Gracie probably doesn’t even know he’s doing it, so for me his fumbled attempts at supporting our community are exactly that.

The splinter runs deep on that boys arse..

Kevinlasvegas. My concern is they may well drive Neil Lennon and his family out of this bitter wee Country. H.H.

The real issue is the LACK of media reaction, which only encourages and perpetuates this kind of nonsense which we have to put up with.

Exactly, they will always need a bogey man. Its the best way to have unity have a common enemy.

  8. My experience of anti-Catholic sectarianism is that it’s based on supremacy. A feature of British nationalism that feeds on the belief they’re better and this is their country.

Perhaps, the trailer trash of Britain’s dead empire can be moved into the 21st Century, free from the baggage that comes with their version of Britishness if they move towards a Scottish identity.

There are strong historical and cultural links between Ireland and Scotland.

Perhaps an independent Scotland can renew these links and leave behind the sectarianism created by British supremacy.

  9. Kilbowie Kelt will vote YES on

Practically EVERY spitting, coin throwing, foul mouthed abuser of Neil Lennon will be voting NO in September.

Those of us who want a DIFFERENT Scotland will be voting……….. YES.

I hope not, Neil is made of sterner stuff than any of us, My heart breaks for him in times like these when i would run to the hills, I’m not a coward by any means but there are some battles just not worth fighting. The countries dark underbelly is too big and poisonous for one man, The club stay quiet in case of reprisals, just look at the arbroth team bus tonight, That’s what we have always been up against and always will be. Our board aren’t cowards they are just just powerless in Scotland.

  11. Hit the governing bodies hard they just signed a Sky contract worth £50m over 4 years with Scottish football.Do you think this is good publicity for Sky and Scottish Football after this.

Read the tag to the twitter picture first – ‘This is just asking for trouble’ NL Idiot’ – before clicking on the picture, whilst lurking on TSFM.

In that small gap I thought, well, there’s gonna be an image here of say ‘a moment of dialogue’ between NFL and Aberdeen fans.

But of course when the image appears it is a bog standard group of men standing/sitting in a sports stadium, all looking at the action on the pitch (save for the ‘intrepid’ photo-journalist)…and oh look one of them is NFL.

Minding his own business, watching the game.

Bleak day brought to you by troglodytes.

  13. ernie lynch I was up at a Celtic Connections thing last week and stayed in a hotel. At breakfast we were placed next to four bears and had to endure their loud rants for half an hour or so. Apparently they were given complimentary tickets for a VIP area ( one where you could sit without the roof falling in).

We simply could not believe their triumphant WATP attitude and so pro union, I have no doubt these people will be voting for the Union.

Back in the day when I did follow the bhoys most days the ground I felt most intimidated at was Tynecastle but funnily only when we were playing there. That hateful, nasty atmosphere was not present even for Heaarts Hibs games, I have no doubt the Cousins of William will also be voting for the status quo.

I must say I am surprised that Sheep supporters (despite the coin throwing at Parkhead) directed their fury at Neil today and wonder if some Hearts supporters came along to view what should have been a good game of football and decided to stir things up.

If British supremacy is responsible for sectarianism why does it manifest itself in Scotland but not in England?

  15. Really don’t know what the referendum has to do with

our manager getting spat at while watching a game.

For the record, I don’t vote, hoping for a turnout of below

40% with half the ballot papers spoiled.

  16. An Dun,

English people have no problem with Catholicism. It’s simply not an issue there and hasn’t been for years.

Anti-Catholicism is a definign feature of Scottish life. Not for nothing were the SNP known as the Strictly No Papes party for decades…

    Thoroughly predictable and depressing.

This has nothing to do with the referendum, Alex Salmond or any other politician. It has a lot to do with police and stewards not doing their jobs properly. That is where we should be setting our sights.

  26. Guys, I didn’t mean to say it was a feature of Britishness. It’s a feature of their Britishness. That’s why you won’t see too much of it in England. Though it still exists there in some quarters.
