Best to Ledley, Goals Griffiths and Perpetual Movement Stefan

567

I read some discourse heading in the direction of Joe Ledley last night, which I can’t quite figure.  Joe had initially seemed keen to sign the contract which had been in his hands for several months.  Celtic wanted to get the deal done but it became clear this week that it wasn’t going to happen, and that Joe would leave under freedom of contract in the summer, if not this week.

This is the player’s absolute right.  He committed fully to the cause until full time on Wednesday, and when Celtic decided to accept a bid reportedly close to £1m, rather than let him run down his contract – most probably from the stand, he agreed to join Crystal Palace, who were almost certainly not top of his desired destinations.  Although he clearly pushed Palace all the way on the contract.

Joe could have just as easily free-wheeled for four months while continuing to collect his wages and shopping around for a new club, which would have suited him far more than Celtic.

Best wishes to Joe, I’m sure he’ll keep Palace up this season.

A formal welcome to Celtic to Leigh Griffiths.  His interview on Celtic TV last night betrayed an irresistible focus.  ‘What will you bring to Celtic?’  ‘Goals’.  That’s what it’s all about Leigh, score goals, lots of them.  Then score some more.

I was pleased Stefan Johansen got some game-time on Wednesday after 45 minutes for the youths on Tuesday; really hope we see him tomorrow.  Did you notice his movement on Wednesday?  Every time he passed the ball he sprinted into space.  Hope he gets a start tomorrow but most of all, let’s break a record.

Tony- you must admit you were rapid in blaming the GB for all and sundry- yet you ask for time when the sheep attack our manager- what’s your agenda?

Speirs did not say anything like that he explained clearly why he had made the earlier comment. When fully explained his comment was entirely understandable.

When highlighted, he was only to happy to unequivocally state his thought on NFL and his courage in the face of bigots.

Earlier several post had condemned him for failing to highlight the sectarian source of the bigots ire. Speirs clarification comments certainly should have cleared up any doubts to anyone listening.

To my recollection the GB took the blame, and they are gone, this is worse than Huns saying rangers still exist, so don’t come to me for recognition, I ain’t playing your little games any more, you want to talk about Celtic fine.

In my opinion. Graham spiers is the subject of some misdirected anger. To my mind he completely and utterly condemned today’s and previous acts of intimidation and aggression against our anger. I thought he was praising Neil’s courage more than anything. When he said Neil “attracts” this behaviour, that did not mean to me that spiers thinks he brings it on himself , more that the Neanderthals in their twisted minds think he’s fair game.

The enemy is not graham spiers.

  7. Of course Neil Lennnon brings it on himself. He is everything the bigots fear all wrapped up in one package. He is Irish has a Catholic upbringing and is good at his job. The last one is what really annoys them. Kevjungle never ever talk disrespectfully of our manager ever again. You are not fit to wash his socks never mind lace his boots.

  10. Utterly disgusted by the events in Tynecastle and I hope Celtic are preparing an investigation via Police Scotland into the disgraceful behaviour of Aberdeen’s fans, not for the first time.

They got away with coin throwing at the last game at Celtic Park, maybe the Celtic board will use their ‘broad brush’ approach and ban them from Celtic Park, and give them their money back, for the Cup game.

    No Chance CSC

Sure Tony- manipulate the truth then say you now only want to talk about Celtic- that’s certainly answered a few things for me

  17. I listened to Spiers on Shorty and IMO he let his mask slip when stating Neil attracts trouble.

He could easily have worded thus differently, after all he is a man of words and supposedly a man if intellect.

In saying it the way he did he undoubtedly IMO pandered to the bigoted.

He then realised his error and backtracked .

Deliberate or not his words were chosen by him and I feel deliberately ambiguous .

I heard both accounts from Mr Spiers the first of which made my blood boil, and only when it was pointed out to him, that Twitter etc had gone balistic, did he bring in the Sectarian factor, hence the reason he lost his cool, GOT PULLED UP for his language, maybe remorse, he did mention he was the son of Baptist Minister, Big Joke, wonder if he will follow up, and put to print, wont put any money on it.

    Easy done mate.

I don’t always agree with Speirs but he has some moral fibre and tells the truth. His comment about Rangers being dead last week were both accurate and brave.

For my money he was actually praising NFL for standing by his ideals and not shirking in the face of the vile. It was in that context Speirs stated NFL attracts their ire.
