Brown called Green right with only one solution remaining

1082

Scottish football has gone through months of drama and uncertainty to rescue ‘Rangers’.  Only weeks ago we were told a CVA was likely.  Once this failed the question of today’s SPL vote crystallised.

The SPL met several times to discuss this matter, even doing so before Rangers CVA failed.  Sentiment was firmly behind Newco, to the extent that some were worried they would be allowed into the league without any sanction (if one Ayrshire club had their way).  All this changed when Charles Green and Duff and Phelps agreed to challenge the SFA at the Court of Session.  At the SPL meeting following this decision the mood changed dramatically.

I then had several friends in the media rubbish my suggestion that Newco were far from certain of being voted into the SPL.  To be fair to them, my information was not coming from Neil Doncaster, whereas theirs was.  If Doncaster was so assured when speaking to the media, day after day, we can only imagine what he was saying to Green. His influence has not been helpful to the cause he championed.

Clubs, who were previously weighing up the argument, suddenly had a convincing point to consider.  Rangers going to court was the biggest own goal in their 140 year history.  Terry Butcher, eat your heart out.

After this Green was at the mercy of fortune, and the growing influence of the hawk(s) in the SPL who saw no need to create space for Newco.  In many respects, John Brown is correct.  Having gambled and failed, Green did whatever he could to accommodate but there was no way back.  Underestimate John Brown at your peril, he has his club’s interests at heart and has the fortitude to raise a phoenix from the ruins of Ibrox.  His unconventional style is easy to mock but it is just what needed (I truly believe this).

Where now for the Newco-Sevco-Rangers?  I don’t see a solution.  Sooner or later Mr Green will let his friends know they only way forward is for him to acquire an existing Scottish Football League club, rename it to something like Rangers United, and move it to Ibrox.

The toxic history would be set free and it would be game-on.  Keep your eye on Cowdenbeath.

  1. Evening bhoys, seriously hot, but as ever hun free.

An eventfull day, no huns in the spl, who would have thunk it a few short months ago.

Cowdenbeath, aye, been saying keep your eye on Cowdenbeath for quite a few months now, will it finally happen, I believe so.

  2. PFA Scotland Solicitor Margaret Gribbon of Bridge Litigation has today written to all English Premier League and Championship Clubs responding to Charles Green’s letter to them dated 29th June 2012.

Ms Gribbon stated “I have been furnished with a copy of Mr Green’s letter sent to English Clubs in their top two divisions and consider that it amounts to an attempt to deliberately misrepresent my clients position. I have therefore today sent a detailed letter to the Clubs setting out the facts and repeating our very firm legal view that Mr Green’s allegations of breach of contract are entirely without legal merit. My clients are free agents and I am pleased to note that several Premier League Clubs have already made applications to the SFA for International Transfer Certificates indicating that they attach little weight to Mr Green’s assertion that Sevco is entitled to seek damages for breach of contract”

“Furthermore it should also be noted that the SFA has confirmed that in the event of there being a dispute over registration the matter will be referred to FIFA. We can confirm that the SFA has today rejected to issue the registration for one of our clients to an English Premier League Club. The Club in question disputes the rejection and will now write to FIFA seeking their intervention. We expect a speedy response from FIFA.”

RogueLeader, it is the only workable and controllable solution.

    Awe Naw, right.

Richie, Ten Men, I said Brown was just what is needed. For us, of course, not for them.

Now let ‘Bomber’ get on with it!

  7. Paul – if you’re right about John ‘The Orator’ Brown – then we’re only a few years away from what we’ve witnessed in the past. This guy will not disavow their 9IAR he will peddle this backed up by Marseille ‘cheating’ Rangers out of a CL Final. It’s not his lack of finesse that worries me. It’s his ‘we’re still ra peepil’ stance. The misplaced superiority swagger will soon return, the bombast, the triumphalism, the division. And he’ll be praised for it. And those like him who will rally to their new flag telling all who’ll listen (And there are plenty of paid ears who will) that it’s really just an old flag, for the old team.

And see all this? All this cowardly destruction of integrity and fairness in Scottish Sport? It will have all been for nothing. And their crimes will never be listed or chronicled properly. And the apologies will come from the wrong mouths (If at all).

There was nothing won here today. Just a clearer map laid out for that bunch to get back on course for where they, and the hierarchy believe they should be.

And I see Ogilvie, Regan and Doncaster are STILL in situ. Strange that…

  8. I await PL retort to Bomber Brown in time. Should be amusing. I mean after HRMC investigate Murray way back to when he first buhgt Rangers, Bomber could be involved in a tainted 9 in a row along with the “gaffer” Walter!!

Special mention to Fergus McCann, Brian Quinn (especially), Dermott Desmond and Peter Lawwell. You done the club proud. stopped the 10, and put us back to the top of scottish football when the title stripping occurs.

    extract from Charles Green comment…

“”This time last week, all of us at Rangers were resigned to the fact that we would not be admitted, due mainly to the public declarations of clubs indicating they would not support our application.

“At the weekend, we were approached by representatives from the SPL suggesting our application still stood a chance of success and we should discuss this further with clubs. This we did in good faith but with the knowledge of the hurdles that lay ahead of us.

“We had asked the SPL whether it would be more appropriate for us to withdraw our application but were advised against this.”

Surely based on this alone Doncaster should resign…

JOHN BROWN:- Damn right its no. Everything`s a green conspiracy, trying tae dae doon ra Berrs. We`ll get thum aw back. Anyhoo, ah phones that Charles Green earlier the day and he says tae me “Listen, Bomber, given the SPL vote, we might now be interested in selling up. How much are your consortium offering, whats the quantum?” Kwan-Tum? I asks him. Kwan-Tum?? You mean tae tell me that ye huvnae heard ay the Kwan-Tum, ya Sheffield safty? DELAHUNT:- Time for an advertising break.

“I`m Peter Dean, your debt expert………..”

  17. I agree the appeal to the CoS was a massive mistake by What Was Rangers (initially I seriously thought CoS was the Church of Scotland!), but I am ever hopeful that the changes that are now happening regarding fan-power, chairmen’s integrity (Kilmarnock excepted of course) and the like will continue to gain momentum. I hope the SFL clubs follow their SPL colleagues (Kilmarnock excepted of course) in changing our game for the better.

Whatever happens now, there is no “Old Firm”, there is no Rangers 1874 and there is a little rising sun glow of integrity beginning to shine back on a game that has suffered incredibly under the malevolent influence of Murray, of people like Campbell Ogilvy, of Surrender, No, Johnstone. The governing bodies will now need to take a long hard look at themselves and make some decisions on their own futures and that of football in Scotland – or their members will…

Colour me happy. I’m aff to the pub.

Paul67 : Another in a sequence of great articles. A pleasure to read over the past weeks.

Can’t wait to see I’m John Mackay and his big Hun coupon

  19. There are many things that have annoyed me about the campaign to leave the rotting, debt-ridden corpse of der Hun and re-constitute a shiny debt free Newco-Rangers playing in the SPL.

The byzantine manoeuvrings of the old-boy networks in achieving this have been pathetic, while at the same time sickening in that they confirmed my view of much of what is worst in this country of ours.

But today is a good day in that the best of our fellow men and women has passed judgement and found The Rangers and their heirs and successors guilty and cast them out. That is no mean achievement for all concerned given the pressure they were all under from a Masonic Scottish Media that Joe Goebbels would have envied.

Well done to you Paul for your part in the downfall, but perhaps you have started to celebrate too soon and should put down whatever it is you are drinking and go and lie down for a bit.

“Underestimate John Brown at your peril, he has his club’s interests at heart and has the fortitude to raise a phoenix from the ruins of Ibrox.” Is not the best statement you have come up with to date.

I will go to sleep tonight praying that Brown, Findlay, Goram have a long and ultimately successful fight with the Green Man and emerge triumphant. Then the lunatics will be running the asylum.

    So.

Not one single existing club supported Neil Doncaster’s proposal.

The overwhelming rejection of his “solution” was marred only by Kilmarnock’s corrupt and cowardly abstention along with one vote from beyond the grave in favour of Sevco SPL.

How can he possibly play any further part now? His credibility has been publicly shredded.

And, yes – Cowdenbeath has always been the safety net, in my opinion. But will we now see a schism in the ranks of the Huns? I won’t be surprised if battle is now joined now between Continuity Brown Huns and the Provisional Decent Huns.

  22. Having witnessed first hand the level of hatred towards Charles Green form the Orcs. I honestly cannot see them backing (in any meaningfull numbers) the acquisition of another club by Green.

They are hell bent on Bomber Broon and ‘aw ra peepul’ being their saviour(s).

I can honestly see a rival Orcs team (a la Man Utd) started by the Bomber and the peepul with a resulting a schism in Saron.
