Brozek in Glasgow chess game. Check.

1155

Two years ago I had a memorable journey from one end of Poland to the other, mostly in silent prayer that our man from Poland would slow down, to check out a few footballers, including Wisla Krakow striker, Pawel Brozek, who obliged with a goal.

Pawel has played mostly as a lone striker, he can hold the ball up and bring others into the game.  He’s not a particularly tricky player but he has good positional sense inside the box.  His move to Trabzonspor last year hasn’t worked out well as he has played back up to scoring sensation, Burak Yilmaz, who is averaging better than a goal per game in the league this season.  Brozek’s record at Wisla was comparable to Maciej Zurawski, who he replaced as top striker in the league.

The Polish CQN brigade told me Celtic should move for Pawel and his twin brother before Trabzonspor signed them.  When news leaked that Pawel was a target to replace ex-Rangers player (too soon?) Nikica Jelavic our man in Poland suggested he would pick up a lot of points for Rangers in the SPL.

If he comes to Celtic on a six month loan both parties will have plenty of opportunity to figure out if there is long term fit.  In the meantime, should Pawel arrive we have someone to put pressure on Gary Hooper and Anthony Stokes and the Cheeky Chappie will have to consider his next move (again, too soon?).

On the subject of Jelavic….  Remember in August 2010 when we were told he “effectively went on strike” to engineer his escape from Rapid Vienna after the player declared he wasn’t able to face Aston Villa?  I hear he’s unable to play against Hibs this afternoon.

  1. And from the Honduran press…

TEGUCIGALPA .- In matters of economic attributed the President of the Motagua, Pedro Atala, the player Jorge Claros, no sign for Rangers in Scotland, the club that came a few days ago for testing.

The leader explained that the Rangers, despite being one of the big clubs in Scotland, is economic prosperity, as it has seized several accounts, which may have caused the non-signing the talented midfielder.

“The truth is that the Rangers offered an absurd amount of Claros, Motagua assign it did not suit what they offered, much less suited the player, so it is best for him to return to Motagua, although there is interest from another team in Europe, but nothing concrete yet, “said the boss motagüense on” The Flight of the Eagle, “Radio HRN.

He further stated that even if the player had convinced the coach of Rangers, McCoist Allyster, economics was the primary obstacle to signing the player for the Scottish club.

“The technical comments about Clare were always excellent, but the monetary influence, the player himself was convinced that the economic proposal was very much below the asking Motagua, we can not give a player with the value which has clear “.

He revealed yesterday that the player packed his bags and took a plane to Honduras, so it is now going back into the country to join Motagua practices, and always waiting for another offer that could leave another club in Europe.

Regarding Jerry Bengtson, who is said to have offers from some European clubs ruled he can leave now, because there is nothing formal on the part of contractors who advertise, so it is a fact that is Motagua at least for the Clausura.

He reminded the crowd that they have today committed fans with the club, starting at 4:00 pm at the National Stadium, Atletico face Choloma, inviting them to attend the giant capital, as they have promotions on the ticket especially in the areas of Sol y Sombra, which are the 2X1.

    ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

A concise summing-up of the traits and, mindsets of MO’N and, Neil.IMO!

I think MO’N came to us and tried to, reign back in the ‘gung-ho’ mindset of previous regimes that hadn’t worked out too well. Having said all of that….I will be forever indebted to MO’N for, giving this Celtic fan some of the best times of my life! I will never forget hearing Hugh Keevins saying that, “grown men wept when MO’N left Celtic!” Well, I hold up my hands, unashamedly and, admit to being one of those grown men that wept when MO’N stood on the front steps of CP and said, “I would like to thank you all for giving me the five years. I will never, ever forget them!” “Thank you Celtic fans.”

I think that,on one of MO’N’s excursions in europe with us he said, “Neil Lennon is monumental to Glasgow Celtic.”

Well if ever there was an understatement….

I have always as a Celtic fan, looked to see who was going to be our midfield workhorse/dynamo in the team, before I would try and work out how the game would go. I have always thought that, it was important to do the work before we started to turn on the Celtic stuff. Always!

I’ll cut to the chase. In my time of supporting Celtic, Murdo Macleod has been the toughest player I have seen in a hooped jersey. He has NEVER been replaced imo! Murdo, for me was a box2box midfielder/ball-winner/goal scorer and, the only Celtic player(Henrik apart) who put in a shift from first whistle to last, in EVERY game we played!

Although, I would say that Craig Burley, for one season came close to MM. What a season we had when Burley managed by, Jansen and Macleod(two of the toughest midfielders this Celtic fan has seen) along with Paul Lambert brought a level of class that had been missing from our team since the days of, John Collins and Paul McStay.

Anyway, back to where I started… to say that I’m, hugely impressed with Neil Lennons management career so far, doesen’t do NL justice. I feel that Neil, if dealing from a proper hand could take us, beyond the dream!!!

For me, Neil Francis Lennon is Glasgow Celtic FC’s, Mr Unbreakable!!!

    Hail! Hail!

The ole Honduran press seem to kno the score down Paisley Road West.

Perhaps they should send one of their reporters over here to help out.

    Re Tom McLaughlin

Never met the man in my life, posted a few comments to him over 2 years ago. My son was going to Oz by himself & asked Tom for some advice, as he was keen to base around Gold Coast at start of his experience. Tom picked my son up from Brisbane at 2am, over an hours drive from his home, gave him a room at his home for his first week in Oz, to get him settled. Tom, Kerry & his son Stuart showed him around & took him out on social events. All so that my son was safe and my wife & i were happy that our son was safe.

That is what Tom McLaughlin is all about, not the blog, but a true gentleman.

Cheers Tom, still owe you big time and still hope to meet you one day & thank you personally. Paul(midfield maestro). Hx2.

  8. Voguepunter, I hear what you say but someones got to make a stand (whilst sitting TAL) and speak up for the armchair supporters.

There are millions of Celts all over the world who can’t manage to see the Celts live, the armchair supporters deserve a voice and they’re an equal part of the Celtic family, if we’re an all inclusive club….. As an aside, ye canny whack all incl in a 4/5 star hotel in the sun :>)

    I might change my monicker.

Do you think the government is trying to scare protesters with the news this morning that they are training the para’s in riot control techniques following last summer’s disturbances and the failure of the police in quelling them?

    para’s – riot control

    ============

With Monday being the 40th anniversary of Bloody Sunday with the murder of 13 innocent civil rights protesters as well as thise injured on that day who are still alive today by the Paras you’d think the British government would be a little more sensitive.

    You’d think! Wouldn’t you?

  11. Tom. Get well soon , you said you were coming to Sydney a few years ago and let me down :(

Still want that beer with you as the only time we net the time was too short

    Regarding Tom

When Martin led Celtic to the title in 2004, a certain Tom McLaughlin posted on the BBC Celtic board that Martin was leaving Celtic due to personal reasons and will be replaced with Gordon strachan

Well the abuse he got, talking rubbish he was

12 months later his prediction became true

Just listening to Your Call from yesterday .

Low and behold ,on comes a ragers fan saying ,there is no way my club will go out of business because someone will come in and buy them in the next couple of weeks. Jabba and English nearly fell over themselves to tell the guy ,if you were a wealthy man looking to buy ragers ,would it not make more sense to wait till they fall into admin before buying them .

That is the 2nd time I have heard this from different pundits on different shows .

Any outsider hearing this would be entitled to believe that the MSM were pro ragers ,as surely these shows should be insisting these wealthy fans get together and help ragers pay their dues not shaft the tax payers of nearly 50m

  17. Could someone enlighten me as to the meaning of MSM?

Those trying to contrast the BBC’s handling of the threats made to our manager and Ferdinand are forgetting that the BBC down South took both situations very seriously. In fact, our manager was on the main news programmes. It was the local lot who ignored it, just as they are doing their damnedest to ignore the debt that those bankrupt servants of the Crown owe to Her Majesty and her people.
