BLUNDER Bhoy Boli Bolingoli has left Celtic on a permanent deal to return to Belgium with Mechelen.
The frozen-out left-back, who made only two first-team appearances for Ange Postecoglou, has gone after playing only 31 games since his £3million arrival from Austrian outfit Rapid Vienna in the summer of 2019, according to a report on the club website.
There appeared no way back for Bolingoli after he broke strict Government Covid rules for a two-day break in Spain before coming on as a late substitute in the Hoops’ 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park in August 2020.
DOWN AND OUT…Celtic outcast Boli Bolingoli is heading back to Belgium.
The 27-year-old defender was packed off to Turkey on a season-long loan with Istanbul Basaksehir and was returned after missing the run-in to the campaign through injury.
Another temporary transfer was arranged in January with Bolingoli heading for Russian club Ufa, but he never kicked a ball for them after the invasion of Ukraine.
Bolingoli’s last game for the Hoops came in the 2-0 win over Motherwell at Fir Park in November after his first outing in the 1-0 loss at Livingston the previous month.
Championship side Reading were credited with an interest recently, but the Belgian has now signed for Mechelen at an undisclosed fee.
