Cadete scandal casts shadow

1236

Alexander (Sandy) Bryson has been mentioned in reports concerning another controversial matter in SFA history.  He was Head of Registrations when Celtic tried to register Jorge Cadete in 1996.  That case led to SFA chief executive, Jim Farry, being dismissed for gross misconduct after he failed to register the player in time for him to face Rangers in a Scottish Cup tie.

The Burness report into what happened noted that Farry “deflected responsibility to Mr (Sandy] Bryson (head of registrations] …. (on] certain executive decisions”.  In a contemporary article, Mirror Group Newspapers noted “it is unclear what part registration chief Sandy Bryson may have played in this debacle”.

I read McConville’s take and he did the legal defferential bit as well.

For me it’s as perverse as the majority verdict in the FTT. Weaselling with words in order to connive an outcome.

I’m looking for natural justice not legal dissection.

Agreed. They had to go down the road of EBTs because they realised we had become consistently financially stronger mainly through the support from the fans. This was, is and will continue to be our strength if we stick together through this.

  7. In 2002 I worked with this guy from the Bronx. He was not very friendly at first, indeed initially, his body language was bordering on the hostile. Through time and humor we became friends. After a couple of years he confessed to me that he did not like white people, experience had taught him that.

He then invited me to his Ludge in Harlem. It was a Black Ludge. I laughed. He asked me about Scotland and its relevance to freemasons. I explained what I thought to be the truth….

Today I was angry. Then I laughed when I realized that the SFA, the media and oldco are simply a microcosm of what is going on in the wider world…

Banks too big to fail, and too big to jail, are found guilty of fraud and corruption, but are fined a fraction of what they benefitted from the fraud. They call the shots whenever and wherever. Politicians simply play the tune they think sustains their position of influence.

The Mainstream Media are focussed on celebrity nonsense, scapegoating, or playing to the gallery that is known as their market and its prejudices. Truth is secondary. Investigative journalism is considered an anachronistic superfluous expense.

When I was a kid watching World At War on Sunday afternoons I used to wonder and ask my father…Why did the Germans do this? Why did the German people think it was OK to invade other countries? I know the answer now. My country of residence and the country of my birth invade other countries to ‘liberate’ them and bring ‘freedom’ and no one questions it…. The media control the agenda.

The Mint, his vanity project and his relationship with the Bank are at the root of this debacle. The Media watered and nurtured it, and continue to do so. The politicians (Salmond, another Banker to trade, watered it further).

The old Divide and Rule is not only a strategy, it is an extremely profitable.

I do not know how Celtic PLC will respond.

I do not know how Celtic supporters will respond.

I do not know how Scottish clubs in general will respond.

I can see how oldco and its supporters are reacting.

I suspect in the longer term, their glorious guilt today will be a Pyrrhic victory….

What I do know is that Banks and Bankers, politicians and lawyers are central players in this dangerous debacle … And The Scottish Rite is a Globally recognized Enterprise.

I await the responses of bit players with profound interest…

  10. Scotland Tonight review:

Chris Graham – what a weird looking guy! Had to agree about his conclusions regarding the SFA and SPL while being diametrically opposed to how he reached them. Thought he was a poor 4th. Had a fair hand of cards to play but was shown up.

Tom English – bizarrely stated completely cleared of cheating only to then give several examples of deliberate breaking of rules. Ok otherwise. 3rd place.

Graham Spiers – also bizarre opening with claim that title stripping not justified regardless of any scale of wrong doing. Otherwise good stuff. 1st=

Alex Thomson – a bit quiet and looked a bit bored, as if he knew he was surrounded by more feeble intellects (true). Made good points without getting out of 2nd gear. 1st=

You’re talking about a Government who had a very good set of statistics on sectarian crime, those stats didn’t suit their agenda, so they lost them. It is very difficult, near impossible to loose such information that has been passed from computer to computer. I find it hard to trust them on that basis. Then they produce a Bill to “even up” those same statistics. Ask Christine Graham, MSP.

So, while an independent Scotland sounds like a good thing, I am very wary of trusting the SNP, I have called them Covenanters before, they have done nothing to change that view.

The SNP may not ever be in government in an independent Scotland though.

  12. Row Z – surely Thommo put up a fight? Even Spiers was tweeting that the report was damming of the RFC Board.

  13. Hi. Don’t post these days but looking for a bit of off-topic info please.

There used to be some youtube footage of Hearts fans clearly singing sectarian songs, including “up to our knees in Fenian blood”. I can’t find the links I seem to remember.

Would someone kindly direct me to them?

I could write screeds on todays developments, but the thought uppermost on my mind is that we have always known that the establishment are Huns. Our success sticks in their craws. 1967 was the catalyst for their demise. Only by getting stronger, despite the favours and handshakes, can we continue to hurt them.

Ach, almost ready to write the screeds.

Instead, can anyone point me to footage of the hearts fans I’m looking for please.

“In the light of recent events Celtic Football Club will be actively seeking an exit from Scottish football, as we no longer have confidence in the integrity of the administration of the game in Scotland”

dawdle, it keeps it general, it does not say we are leaving but it does make clear that is our goal.

    or

“Celtic Football Clup PLC has identified irregularities in the administration of Scottish football and have asked our legal team to investigate the financial impact to the club and shareholders, with the view to recovering lost finances via legal recourse. CFC PLC does not support corruption.

English backed the bizarre no cheating viewpoint.

There was some numpty, who had that smug smirk that conformed he was the Zombie supporter. He nearly reduced the discussion to a shouting match at one point. Thomson made one statement re- how can you spend all that ill-gotten dosh on players and not gain an advantage ? Speirs did state the decision was ahumiliation but he didn’t want their stolen booty to be stripped.

  21. Just watched the highlights of last night’s match.

Hadn’t realised just how poor Ambrose was in the run up to the second goal.

Badly positioned, missed the header, and is then easily beat.

He is a decent athlete, but it is going to take a lot of work to transform him into a player whom we can trust.
