Cadete scandal casts shadow

1236

Alexander (Sandy) Bryson has been mentioned in reports concerning another controversial matter in SFA history.  He was Head of Registrations when Celtic tried to register Jorge Cadete in 1996.  That case led to SFA chief executive, Jim Farry, being dismissed for gross misconduct after he failed to register the player in time for him to face Rangers in a Scottish Cup tie.

The Burness report into what happened noted that Farry “deflected responsibility to Mr (Sandy] Bryson (head of registrations] …. (on] certain executive decisions”.  In a contemporary article, Mirror Group Newspapers noted “it is unclear what part registration chief Sandy Bryson may have played in this debacle”.

You should know better. They never once questioned Ogilvie’s position as their beloved football’s association’s president.

  2. i think they would be terrified of it turning in to a massive embarassment on their part

incidently i think they will makesure as best they can that we dont reach the final.

After today’s farce, I’m surprised they don’t find some mechanism to kick Dundee United out of the Scottish cup and resurrect the Zombies……..

Would resurrecting the undead be a world record perchance ?

“incidently i think they will makesure as best they can that we dont reach the final.”

I think we have been pretty good at ensuring that ourselves.

Aye, scotland is indeed a beautiful place, I was once proud to be scottish, that was many years ago, when I was young and impressionable, time has taken it’s toll…..

I honestly don’t want to sound patronising, but, I could see the writing on the wall many years ago, maybes I took the cowards way out and ran away, but I weighed up all the scenarios in my head, and reckoned that bringing up my family away from sectarianland was for the better.

My daughter had to endure some terrible things just cos her Da was a Celtic supporter, she was only a young wean at the time, came home covered in spit on ocassion, I tried to confront it, got beat up for my troubles, I even got arrested and spent a few weeks in the jail for getting beat up, but that is another story.

    ……………….

    BCW

I have always though that CG would walk away and leave the club to real rangeres men, I thought that they would go bust again. now, I’m not so sure, I think he has done a wonderfull job in convincing the hoards that they are indeed the peepil, and fair play to him.

Whatever, we will see what transpires in the long run, as a club, we are well prepared for the long game, just a pity some of us won’t be around to see it, but I was around to see us winning the big cup, I remember it as clear as day follows nigfht.

Cowdenbeath will still have a say in matters, just something that I heard, and keep hearing.

I am at a loss as to what I honestly expect our suits to do.

To make a statement will not appease some, to not make a statement will not please the seeming majority.

They do seem to be stuck between a hun and a hard hun place.

Their silence will convince some that they are complicit, that is looking even money fav imo, but to say anything……

What would you do ? genuine question.

I know what I would do.

Thats not what he said. Do you really think PL could ever get off the phone w/the donut to call Fergus?

  10. Hovisheid proclaiming victory over being found not guilty.

Why is no one challenging the not guilty claim?

Smith ( barnet ) claiming just an administrative error.

Murray saying club vindicated despite himself stating in public side letters did not exist.

Dingwall claiming waste of money investigating as nothing found to be out of order.

The SPL brought this investigation, why is there not a spokesman for their organisation on the LNS result? No comment on mainstream news programmes from people who disagree with the outcome, why?

Oh wait, it’s Rangers football club, fear has to be considered, that’s why.

Was hoping to see a kids footy tournament today, but it was washed out, when it rains here, it rains, none of your wishy washy pish, things get washed away, a couple of years ago, i watched a mates house sliding down the mountain side, seriously, it moved about half a mile, it did break up a bit, but it could have been lived in, connected a few wires and pipes, bobs yer auntie and the like, but the farmer who’s land it was on wanted it moved, no compassion some of these farmers…..

Staying with the BBC so hopefully the Eastleigh by-election result won’t be too late but in the meantime. It was after all Lord Nimmo-Smith who, in the context of an earlier investigation who ruled/decided/considered that the club was somehow distinct from the company that the club turned itself into. A deliberate view of company law that, to the best of my knowledge, does not carry any legal weight at all, and certainly not within the HMRC. It is Lord Nimmo-Smith’s opinion, no other, that allows followers of what is, and I am not the originator of the description, to support what is, in effect, (and if The Exiled Tim is correct, in fact) a successor club to that of Rangers FC as was. Nimmo-Smith’s adopted position however is only in the context of the SFA Rules of Association (see PFayr in this context) and should not, cannot apply to any other form of jurisdiction, Lord though he may be.

  17. Kilbowie Kelt on

We would probably get depressed about today’s debacle if we did not remember where exactly this shameless mob are at this moment in time.

For all their cheating & connivence, all their unpaid debts to small local businesses & charities, all their tax evasion & all the fraternally motivated .honest mistakes, they are in the hands of cabal of Arfur Daleys, operating in the FOURTH tier of Scottish football, running at a steady loss in front of ‘world record’ crowds every home game & hated & despised by the supporters of every other club in the country.

The most vindictive of Celtic men could not have wished for a more fitting situation for them than the one they are in tonight.

    Be still & know…………..

  18. Reading an excerpt of his decison LNS appears to have accepted the FTT ruling that payments were not “irregular” but has imposed a fine for non disclosure of what must then be “regular” payments.

If on appeal the payments are deemed irregular, does that negate basis of LNS’s judgement and revive the charge that Rangers did in fact cheat HMRC and Scottish Football?

If linkage to the FTT exists through LNS judgement then the cheating allegation still depends on the final outcome.

When I say depends I mean as a counter argument to those that say officially no cheating took place, the same folk who say ebts were not and are not illegal after the FTT ruled.

  19. macjay1 for Neil Lennon on

    K.K.

They are just symptomatic of the cancer that exists within the Scottish body politic.

As others have said,I`m just glad my kids won`t have to live with it.

  20. Margaret McGill on

Rangers were liquidated because they cheated outside of Scotland.

Back in Scotland the cancer was only in remission for a year.

The wife beater will be back soon enough and the wife will love it.

  21. Re above

    It continued:

“The relevant SPL Rules were designed to promote sporting integrity, by mitigating the risk of IRREGULAR payments to players. Although the payments in this case were not themselves irregular and were not in breach of SPL or SFA Rules, the scale and extent of the proven contraventions of the disclosure rules require a substantial penalty to be imposed.”

So penalty was for non disclosure of payments not of making irregular payments, loans not being payments being an outcome of the FTT, but not necessarily the UTT.

  22. Kilbowie Kelt

    Of course you are right.

At the weekend we play a semi final cup game, next week we play a last 16 of the best club competition game on the planet, aye, we are doing good, better than the hoards are presently.

\They are experiencing a term of ……what is the word ????….I really don’t know, it’s not punishment, it’s not purgetory, what is the word ???

They are going through a period of something, and they are no happy, they will be blaming Timmy…..I thot Peter Lawwell was running football in scotland….maybes they will have to re evaluate that assertion.

    bed now.

    take care

I will awake a Tim, if I do indeed awake, tis that bad btw.

Take care miki, you are a star.

  23. Kilbowie Kelt

    Karma can be a bitch.

What LNS did though was to reinforce their argument that they did no wrong.

    Karma however obviously disagrees.

  24. The Bryson intervention reminds me of Callum Murray speaking up for Bougherra and Diouf after they manhandled him i.e to justify a lighter sentence than was merited.

  25. Geordie Munro on

So because wee Fergus took on the sfa about a Celtic players registration the current Celtic board should do the same about deadcos dodgy registrations???

    Aye ok.

  26. All this means little to me or any of my family, or ancestors, for that matter!

What it does mean to me, is the fact that come what may, I, when I awake in the a.m.,

Will still be, who I am, what I am, and that is the sum-total of those who went before me.

They suffered the slings & arrows, famine, injustice, etc., and we are still here, and still,

Celtic supporters, still playing- the- game, and having a great time, do I give a hoot about

The LMS decisions? I think not!

It was ever so!, time does not age us, nor can it harm us, we just keep passing on our traditions In the time honoured fashion of those who proceeded us, Christian, Jew ,gentile, who among us would have it any other way! Not I !

    H.H.

  27. So, let me get this right…

LNS states that as the payments/EBTs were made by MIH for the purposes of playing for RFC1872 in addition to wages paid by said club then no sporting advantage could be derived…

… but I’m positive the rules clearly state that all benefits derived from playing football in form of wages, bonuses, enhancements or other type of benefit must only be paid BY the club???

So the players received monies, bonuses or enhancements from a third party??? In breach of the rules???

    Am I missing something??

  28. Ok.

had a few probs with a major company the past few months…Dell to be precise.

Thje wifes laptop got fried, fair play to them, they have sent out engineers five times, have changed everything on the computer apart from the screen, in effect we have a new computer, but she can’t get interweb access, oh, and only one of the usb ports works, they have tried so feckin hard to fix thias, they have tried so feckin hard to not fix this, but eventually, we managed to get to ralk to an american person today, who accepted that sending people out, who have to travel 2 hours to get here, and then can walk away not fixing our computer, it’s costing them serious money, they gave us a 3 year on site warrenty, so their problem.

They have promnised me they wil be back on monday, aye right
