CAUGHT ON CAMERA: CELTIC’S 23 SECONDS OF PURE MAGIC

0

CELTIC couldn’t score in over two and a half hours of football against struggling St Johnstone until Callum McGregor sent a spectacular first-time drive past the previously unbeatable Dimitar Mitov in the 67th minute of a lopsided encounter in Perth yesterday.

Matt O’Riley piled the misery on the Bulgarian keeper with an unstoppable right-foot drive that almost took the net away.

However, a strangely off-colour Hoops side – who had to answer to a furious Brendan Rodgers at the interval after gifting the hosts the opening goal – had to wait until stoppage-time before they could breathe a little more easily.

It was a killer goal that was put together in a spellbound TWENTY-THREE SECONDS after Joe Hart had produced a stunning save to push away a netbound header from Jay Turner-Cooke that would have given the Saints a leveller and robbed the champions of two crucial points.

THREE CHEERS…James Forrest, watched by Oh Hyeon-gyu, lashes in Celtic’s third goal against St Johnstone to seal three points.

In the aftermath of the breathtaking swoop, Cameron Carter-Vickers helped the ball on to James Forrest who volleyed a pass to the halfway line where Oh Hyeon-gyu battled with a defender before poking a pass in front of Tomoki Iwata who took off at high speed on the left.

With the hosts’ defence in disarray, the Japanese ace carried the ball into the danger zone before releasing a pass at precisely the right moment for the evergreen Forrest to fire behind the exposed Mitov.

The points were heading home to the east end of Glasgow in that quickfire moment of eye-catching play from Rodgers’ men.

It’s worth a second look, courtesy of those good people at Celtic TV Unique Angle.
