Celtic cruise past relegation battlers

757

Celtic didn’t need to get out of second gear to overcome Dunfermline yesterday, making it one of the most comfortable performances of the season.  After the festive season games against Rangers in the previous two seasons we played the team bottom of the league, Falkirk and Hamilton, both of whom were subsequently relegated, but we dropped points on each occasion.  Teams fighting for SPL survival are filled with players fighting for money to pay their mortgages, no result can be assured.

Dunfermline are everyone’s hot tip for relegation but they are still missing several players and having watched Hibs capitulation against Hearts yesterday I reckon nothing is clear cut yet.  Hibs are in trouble.

Hoopy New Year dear friends in Celtic

Any day now I expect Whyte to announce that he has made a deal with the SNP and the commonwealth games committe to get £40m as advance payment for ticket sales to the spectacle that is Commonwealth Rugby at Ipox. The SNP will say that the demise of RFC cannot be considered as it would put this worldwide spectacle in danger. Sammond will describe it as a great deal for the Scottish taxpayer and in return to balance the equation they will not be paying Celtic anything as we should consider it an honour just to be involved.

Sammond also stated that they were in advance talks with Hertz to ensure a similar deal is reached.

    or if you prefer

SNP will announce a snap referendum for independence – the main platform will be a guarantee that they will write-offf any debt to HMRC of the establishment as the debt would be owed to the Scottish Govt.

Sorry if this has been offered already on Common’s absence:

A wee birdy told me he is having touble with his fitness because of the amount of work he did in the gym over the summer on his upper body strength. This has severly altered his stamina levels and pace in his legs that has ruined the impact he had on the game last season.

He gets a lot of stick for his fitness … this is a serious post !!

Can anybody clarify this or indeed offer a better explanation – I’m not buying tight groins any longer!

bobbycfc…….on the contrary, he actually makes a fool of them,….

    Terry……a true CELT

  19. James Forrest is Lennon on

    I thought Terry did great.

He actually tied them in knots over the ten million quid hole in the balance sheet, and utterly embarrased them on the question of the HMRC settlement.

The ten million hole .. THAT is the real elephent in the room, people, not the tax case. Even if they win the tax case (unlikely bordering on ridiculous) they still have to make cuts which relegate them to Hearts wage levels.

Things have changed. These players they’re being linked with? That’s their future.

    – LFC banned for 6yrs, other english for 5

i suppose many fans have never forgiven the scouse for that but am sure they’d have won a few more cups

    Hail hail Terry !!

The tax man taking 10p in the pound if they are found guilty of evasion their Queen’s revenue? I think they may just take the lot – Ibrox is worth £120 million don’t you know.

  22. bobbycfc- Did you not hear Guidi backpedal on the Tax issue, admitted he didn’t really know what he was talking about- “sumdae tellt me” -woeful excuse, and his “I don’t read blogs” excuse when Tel offered @RTC as a source of information.

    Well done Terry, mate!

  23. Enjoyed that Terry. You get them flustered every time your on.

What we got tonight on Snyde was a conditioning process for hun support. Wouldn’t be surprised if there were a few plants given the level of signing being discussed.

Nearly time for MBB to pull the carpet. They’re just about ready to take it.

  25. \o/ Coming at you!! on

    From BBC:

Bendiksen, 22, told the Tromso website: “I had a very good contract offer from Rangers but I refused it.”

And he added: “Tromso is a good club and it has ambitions to be even better.”

“I aim to play my way to a permanent place in the team and look forward to an exciting season, both at home and not least in the Europa League.”

Hope he’s got December’s wages in the bank, something tells me he’s still waiting.

  26. Re Terry phoning Clyde.

Of course Guidi knows about RTC. Of course he knows the huns financial predicament. But they control the switch off button, they can talk about Terry after he goes and he gets no right of reply.

I would much rather we just let these stations continue with their crap, dont give them any ammunition, and eventually they will cease to exist.

Lets not lower ourselves to their tabloid levels.

  27. Enjoyed posts referring to the Bisley Bar in Clydebank.

What an institution & how many memories.

I don’t suppose many people will remember a young part-time barman in this hallowed institution who went on to become the Chief Constable of Strathclyde Police & was made a knight of the realm by our Gracious Majesty.

Just one more example of how the cream of the Donegal diaspora made Clydebank such a jewel in the crown of our adopted land.

    Patsy Gallagher.

Johnny Divers ( father & son).

    Etc, Etc, Etc.

Too many great Celts to try to acknowledge.

Clydebank, … the natural Scottish destination for our immigrant forefathers.

Mate, that’s exactly how I read tonight’s little Comedy Central classic.

They are being conditioned. Perfect word. Describes it succintly.

When Jody Morris can be touted as a real possibility for a squad which needs “warm bodies” they really are being prepared for the very worst.

I found tonight instructive in that when Skacel was mentioned in connection with Celtic (not officially, as a suggestion) me and my old man had the identical reaction, waving at the speakers with a “no, no, no”.

In fact, he is a far better player than many of those the Rangers fans were on tonight claiming to be “excited” by.

Quick question; wasn’t Gary O’Conner involved in some kind of doping scandal? Funny, cause although he got a lot of attention tonight no-one mentioned it, so I thought I might have imagined it.

  30. …just caught up.

Loved the ‘Lovin’ Cup’ video from earlier and all that warm natural chemistry between the leading lights of Scottish fitba, and Ali Russell.
