Neil Lennon has been fluid with his team formations in recent weeks. As a result, three central defenders, Efe Ambrose, Kelvin Wilson and Charlie Mulgew could each be regarded as first choice picks, although Ambrose and Mulgrew have also been deployed in midfield. Ambrose has featured in all nine games since the beginning of December, while Wilson has featured in eight and Mulgrew in seven.
Add to the picture the fact that fourth-choice central defender, Thomas Rogne, has appeared in eight of those nine games, missing only the replay against Arbroath, and our central defenders look curiously stretched. Much has been made of the proximity of Efe Ambrose potential involvement in the African Cup of Nations to Celtic’s Champions League tie with Juventus, but the numbers suggest a vacancy exists beyond this tie, hence the recruitment of Rami Gershon, who will join on a six month trial, pending a work permit, with a permanent transfer agreed in principle, pending performance between now and May.
Gershon, 24, has kicked around Standard Liege for three years without making a discernible impact, but he is an experienced international who fits the profile of a non-critical recruit, competing as fourth of fifth choice central defender. His six-month objective will be to secure Thomas Rogne’s place in next season’s squad. The try-before-you-buy strategy we discussed earlier this week will ensure Neil Lennon has a player keen to impress whenever he gets an opportunity. Sound squad management.

I have some experience of living in Scotland. 50 plus years. I’ve worked abroad many times but have always had a home here in Glasgow since the day I was born.
For what it’s worth, I have wanted an independant Scotland since I was a teenager.
You’ll get lots of well-reasoned argument on here for both views, and lots less well-reasoned. For the ‘cons’ you will hear of the founding fathers of the SNP and their KKK-like tendencies, or it’s about the contemporary leadership and policies which will lead us to armageddon (where have I heard that before?)
I’ve had my own experience of anti-Catholic/Celtic/Irish (middle name Patrick omitted from CV) but some of that was in London.
In any case, it’s each to his own, and I for one will take the only opportunity I am likely to have before I die to vote for an independent Scotland. When/if it occurs, I think a lot of good people, currently subdued, will step up to help the cause and country.

I’m all for ignoring Sevco as a fourth tier brand new scumbag tribute act non-entity who are a million light years away from our world famous, successful club, but…
I think the time has come for Lawwell to put the likes of Jabba in his place. How dare he suggest our club had anything to do with the end of Rankers and where Sevco started – which as a matter of fact was a very fortunate place in Scotland’s fourth tier.
If any other club bad mouthed Celtic we would respond. Time to speak out about these monkeys.

Sipsini – Falkirk won the first division, but didn’t get promoted because their ground wasn’t up to SPL standards – 99/00 I think. From memory Aberdeen would have gone down.
If ever a statement defined the status of a football club, it was today’s effort from Jabba. This guy is employed as the head of communications for Sevco and that statement was obviously cleared by the board before it was loaded on to the official Sevco website.
Despite all the bluster about their supposed attendances, apparent standing in the game and who they actually claim to be – that article proves Sevco are no more than a two-bob outfit.
From top to bottom the have no class. A proper football club would not conduct public affairs in that manner.
But it was extremely funny to read. Keep up the good work.

We are financially secure for many many years to come whilst major clubs all round the world are feeling the pinch …
And as you and I fear ….
The worst is still to come with a worldwide economic meltdown heading our way .
Yet our club has planned for this …
They have implemented strategies …
And will flourish when others will die !
Let’s not be naive to think that Rangers FC will be the last major club to die! More will follow .
Times will change …
As will our club to adapt to these changes , because our custodians are well placed and have the knowledge and know how to change.

PF – I won’t go into the background, but many years ago I had the misfortune to be in the company of an RUC sergeant.
He was bricking it about the peace agreement and what it would mean for people like him. He was convinced that there would repercussions and revenge attacks for many years to come and he was planning on getting out and relocating somewhere up the west coast of Scotland. He said that he wouldn’t be the only one!
We might laugh about the taking down of the butcher’s apron in Belfast, but it’s one more sign to them that their old order is long gone.
